A few quick questions about WILDs [N00B]

I've done some research on WILDs recently and I have a few questions..

When I go to sleep, can I just try to go straight into SP and start the WILD? Some people are saying that I have to like...wake up a night first because you don't start dreaming when you first start sleeping.

I've tried to enter SP but never fully entered it. I've gotten the body heaviness (feels like a lead blanket is laid on me) and a few other symptoms. I haven't gotten to the actual paralysis..

The main problem I have is that when the heaviness starts, my eyes start freaking out. It sounds like the REM movement but it's so violent that it causes me to slightly open my eyes and that usually screws everything up. I don't know if it actually is REM sleep or if I'm just getting too excited/panicking. My eyes usually hurt for a few seconds after this happens, also.

      TL;DR

      1. Can I start a WILD as soon as I go to sleep?
      2. Should my eyes freak out when entering SP?

      Thanks

Yes. But it's hard, close to impossible. Read the tutorial "why you fail at WILDs" and you'll see.

      2. Should my eyes freak out when entering SP?
Nothing ''should'' happen, everything happens different to people. You can hear sounds, see HI or other things, including your eyes starting to move by themselfs.

      Welcome.

Yep I agree with this. I have trouble with my eyes too I just try not to focus on it.

I wouldn't try it as your first going to bed because it will make it even harder. And as for the eye movement thing, that's happened to me once before and I ended up opening my eyes too.
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

It's very, very hard to WILD when you first go to sleep. First of all, you aren't relaxed as you would be when you wake up in the middle of the night. Secondly, you're not in a REM period yet, and that's the crucial part - dreams form mostly in REM, so even if you do manage to get into SP, you might just drift unconscious because a dream can't form.

During REM, your eyes move around by themselves, sometimes back and forth. This can happen during WILDs which is completely normal, but it can be annoying if your eyes open during this time. If it happens, wear an eye mask - the extra pressure might help keep your eyes closed, and if they do happen to open, you'll open your eyes into blackness instead of possible lights in your room.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
