Greetings oneironauts!

I'm excited to be here! I'm a research assistant and student at Utah Valley University - I love studying anything science related. My major is biotechnology but I enjoy psychology as well, especially when it's related to dreams. When I was younger I used to annoy my parents by always telling them all about my dreams every morning. I'm married, and we have a three-year-old daughter who means more to me than anything.

My wife bought me a book by Stephen Laberge about lucid dreaming, and I'm about half way through. Since beginning to read the book I've had two lucid dreams. In the most recent dream, after marveling how vivid and detailed the dream world was, I asked a passing lady, "Why are dreams so vivid?"

She quickly replied, "because perception has no resolution." I took this to mean that one's perception isn't limited to the confines of a resolution rating like televisions and cameras, and therefore dreams are infinitely vivid. I was amazed by the depth of the answer she gave me. The brain is amazing, that it can create such a beautiful experience during one's sleep in addition to working out problems and answers on the fly.

I'm excited to get to know others who are interested in lucid dreaming, because there aren't many around here who even know what it is, let alone appreciate it.

Sounds like an incredibly profound lucid you had, that'll surely give you the motivation to have a lot more in the future.

Like you I also love anything science related and I find the brain to be a very interesting component indeed. As it sounds here you got a pretty good motivation to get more LDs ,so I can assure you that with that motivation you will get many more LDs ^^.

Welcome to the forum!

I like your experience. It really is cool to see how complex our mind can be in creating a convincing dream world complete with interaction.

You may not know anyone personally who researches lucid dreaming but I bet some of the people you associate with have experienced them. I am constantly surprised how many people everywhere in this world share the same experiences.
