      Curiosity

So curiosity got the best of me.
I am 30 and have lucid dreamed for as long as I can remember. I don't often play with my dream...as in make changes or alter the dream. I just enjoy sleep and rarely feel the need. I don't have a history of childhood nightmares that I know of and was unaware there are so many out there learning to lucid dream. I just wanted to know why it was interesting to others. What is the benefit and if there is some sort of benefit to playing with the dreamscape maybe I should be less passive about the whole thing.
so hello and thanks for having me!

Yes! control is fun! You have all your other dreams to have mindless adventures in (I went to Hogwarts in 6 dreams last night!). You should have some fun, and you can also learn some things if you want to.

Welcome to DV! Glad curiosity brought you here.

I like lucd dreaming because it gives me the option to enter a kingdom right at the center of my brain where I am limited or judged by no one. For me it has been a mind expanding experience and I have done things that I couldn't even hope for in real life. It gives us a taste of power, a place to test things and most importantly a place to have fun.
I think all of us have thought about living in magical places, doing impossible stuff and living a better life at some point. Well lucid dreaming gives us the option to just all these things, get in touch with your inner child and forget the restrictions everyday life places on us.

      Welcome to Dreamviews!

One benefit other than having fun is already mentioned practicing of your skills - karate moves, golf strokes, dancing, just about anything you would like to get better at. Check out the thread 1000 things to do in LD and the Dream control forum for some more ideas.

      Welcome to Dreamviews, Marta!

Read this page that explains some of the main reasons people want to lucid dream: Why have Lucid Dreams?

As a natural lucid dreamer, there are plenty of benefits of taking a step further and controlling your dreams. It can help you solve a problem, advance your creativity, and just be a stress reliever. If you look around the site more hopefully you will realize how awesome lucidity is. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Welcome to Dream Views! This is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn how to lucid dream. There is no quick answer to your question, but the Dream guide team is here to help you navigate the forum and answer questions. We all have 3 green stars above our avatar. Click on our user name and you can then select private message if you have a question, or you can start new threads. Don't worry about starting threads that have been started before, just try it out, if it ends up in the wrong place one of us can move it for you.

One thing you can do in a post is place a link to another thread. I have done this below. You can click on the colored words to see the new thread. Start with this extra basic one, it will help you read the acronyms in other posts, Help With Acronyms For Complete Beginners

After that one the very first thing you should do is check out basic tutorials. This one covers most of the terms you will see members using in much more depth, so start here, http://www.dreamviews.com/f20/beginn...eaming-124786/

Also be sure to check out the DVA Dream Views Acadamy, click on this link to get there, DV Academy.

Matte , our Dream Guide team leader runs a general lucid dreaming class, and you can join in contests where you gain points for dreams you have. General Lucid Dreaming (Matte87)

Gab , another Dream Guide runs a class that is very valuable to beginners on MILD/DILD, which is by far the best method to start with. DILD (Hukif and gab)

Finally as far as the DVA stuff goes, there is a class on introduction to lucid dreaming. This is a great place if you are just starting out and need a little personal help. Intro Class (OpheliaBlue, RareCola, CanisLucidus, Chimpertainment, Xanous)

Now, on the lighter side, you may be excited to learn to fly! Here is a thread where people explain how they went about learning to fly, http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/can-u-...u-learn-40468/

Then just for a laugh here is a thread where people list all the things they want to do in an LD. It is mostly light hearted and supposed to be funny, http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/1000-t...-dream-104556/

Have fun and good luck with your dreaming!
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Lucid dreaming is like another world.
Just about everyone needs a few moments to themselves or a few moments to not have to consider everything that's going on around them.
A lot of people turn to drugs or alcohol (not that these don't do the trick sometimes, ) But it's better to go in your own world & control what's going on there. I truly believe Lucid dreaming is a gift. I know so many people that would love to have this advantage but they're just lacking something. You should be appreciative of this talent & see what all it's about!

They are probably lacking persistance, patience, and other things as well. Lucid dreaming is an art and it takes awhile to even be okay at it.

Just remember to keep practicing and you will go far!

Everybody can lucid dream;there are just a few that have the characteristics of a lucid dreamer.
