      Parkour (free running) in LD's?

Hi! I have not yet had a lucid dream since joining, but when i do, i want to try Parkour. (if you dont know what this is go here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2kJZOfq7zk)
Anyway, i heard from everyone that in your dreams you not governed by any laws of physics. Is there any way to turn them back on so it is just like earth?

      Thanks!

i've been interested in doing parkour in LDs also.
Yes you can make the physics/gravity however you want. so you could jump farther, or you could make everything regular.
I would want to make myself be able to do cooler stuff though, since in real life I could only do what I CAN do.

Physics are usually off in dreams. So you could easily do it. Considering it's all in your head as well.

Haha, I bet! It's your dream, you can control absolutely EVERYTHING. If you want the gravity to be normal, just expect it to be, and it will be. Also, vice versa.

I've done parkour in a dream before, but it wasn't lucid. It was sick as hell

Once you get better at Dream Control, you should be able to chose the gravity levels and other laws of physics at will. You are bound only by your imagination.

If you pay attention to the physics in your dreams, it can get pretty close. you'll find that you can make gravity pretty accurate, mainly because you live every hour of your waking life in this environment with a constant gravity, and physics. I suppose when you get that down, you'll be able to do it in real life!

Desert Claw has a good point here! There have been reports of people who, after doing an activity or sport in a dream, became better at it in real life (a tennis example springs to mind.) This might happen for you!

I have performed many parkour activities during lucids. Back when I first started lucid dreaming, one of my goals was to compete in Ninja Warrior during a lucid. I used my neighborhood to do some training for fun. I definately recommend trying some parkour in a lucid. Me and some of the ninja warrior all-stars were training together.

That is exactly why i am asking about it, i want to learn it without getting hurt. Anyone here learned how to do anything from a dream?

dont get your hopes up, things cant be learnt in dreams only, it would take waaay to long - unless if you were able to dream about it every night...

One of my goals is also to be able to practise parkour in my dreams.. Im pretty new to lucid dreaming so im not able to do parkour yet, because im still struggling to maintain lucidity. Dont expect to be able to do parkour in your dreams before you got dream control down.

Okay, finally watched the vid. That guy is sick!

But yeah, I've done this in both lucids and regular dreams. It's fun

While you can do Parkour in your dreams, I doubt you could learn it just from that. You can practice muscle memory in dreams, true, however, you cannot simply learn a new skill. The same way I can't expect to learn how to play baseball from dreaming. It just doesn't work. What it can possibly enhance is reaction time, rote memorization, handling adrenaline, judging distance (although that one's a stretch).

If I remember correctly, there are places you can train for that. The floor's usually covered in foam, there are foam pads on walls for running up them, and pits filled with foam blocks for jumping into (backflips, jumping off things, etc.)

Just don't land directly on your head with your body twisted at an obscene angle, and you shouldn't be able to injure yourself.

One of the first things I'd do when I'm able to LD, is be like the main character in Mirrors Edge and jump from one rooftop to another

Aw man, how did I never think of this!? Next time I'm on the computer I'll post a few vids I have in mind, give you some Ideas maybe. Best part is it's very flexible as far as environment goes. I'll definately put this next on my list of lucid tasks.

I've done parkour in a dream before, out in the woods, non-lucid, and very long ago, and it was wonderful!

Yeah! Parkour in LDs is possible. I imagine you'll have your focus on both your body's fluidity and may even turn yourself into water, as well as focus on your environment, giving both very good detail.

      Good luck!

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.
