      War on sound?

      Is this rediculous, or what?

Actually, I think it is a fabulous idea. After all, we would not have The Yellow Submarine, or Mellow Yellow, without such grand displays of logic!

And, if the right side wins, maybe we can get rid of these noise generators that the musically declined put in the cars whose sole purpose is to shake the rust off their cars and dead bugs off my house windows.

Yah, kids could get the idea that drugs will have the same effect and try it. Long shot? Yes. But within shot? Yes

It is the only time I wish I owned a gun. I would gladly exchange noise with noise.

I feel the need to post in here due to my experience with binaural/monaural beats and isochronic tones. They do provide effects and can be used to create "drug" like effects, but then it's more placebo than anything else. B/M beats and I tones CAN'T act like real drugs. They cannot force the body to produce the required chemical reactions for "trips". The only problem is the companies giving these beautiful things a bad rap. After all, you can use them to help sleep/study/relief pain/increase rejuvination/meditation and etc.

Also, this probably isn't the place, but i'm taking requests on anything the dreamviews community needs.

@Armistice and Philosopher: I wouldn't mind if they removed techno music. Leave a little trance music tho :3.

Reporters being sensationalists, as always. The evil New Media is once again corrupting our youth.

      Rude comment: Google ???

Polite comment: It's a company that creates binaural beats in "dose files" with effects of any drug you could possibly find. They say it works and i don't believe them.

Most likely the only way any of this could work is via a placebo effect. However, anything with a placebo effect can be very effective. I read somewhere here several weeks ago that a member told his brother that this combination of fruit juices would make him LD. Almost every time he drank it he had an LD. However, if people read comments saying noise can't do anyhting, it probably won't. If they read comments saying it can, then they probably will.

"Most likely" denotes lack of experience - where's your sources? Sorry mate, no one's gonna take your word on it based on the weasel words "most likely."

@Philosopher I'm pretty sure this debate wouldn't lead to getting rid too much volume and bass in sound systems, but it's a nice thought. I like my music loud sometimes, but I won't force others to listen to the "boomdaboom", 'cause I wouldn't listen to it myself.

As for the article itself, I think their concerns are not well founded. I mean, it's obvious, and I know I won't introduce anything new to this argument with this post, but they're trying to regulate binaural beats' availability to anyone (they say children) because they don't like the idea that anyone would have another way of changing their life experiences by means of sound/hallucinogenics/etc. They're afraid, but they can't scare everyone, and that's the end of the story. Saw this on Slashdot last week and saw some interesting talk there - though it was very one-sided as this post will sound to you, what they presented were different insights into their side of the debate.
