That sucks, Xox. I had a netbook stolen because an old roommate was bringing shady people into the house--not something you should even have to worry about in your own home. Did you call your carrier to see if there was any way for them to locate it and/or lock it? I have Seekdroid on my Androids, but then I never have GPS or data turned on, so it's kind of pointless

You can get decent used Android phones for around $100 if you do a little research and keep an eye on craigslist. Beats going clamshell.

Bah! What really sucks is when your own children steal from you. I got mad earlier because I went into my daughters rooms looking for a lamp and I found several of my missing minor items- Magic and WoW cards, sketch books, ancient diaries. There was also a laptop hubby let me use- on the bedroom floor- open and no doubt destroyed. I'm still pissed my youngest sold my iPod so the minor items just made me feel worse.

It's also FREEZING in the house. We have no heat to speak of and it's 18 degrees outside. The space heaters we had in the living room and my youngest boys room died last night. My room is comfortable because it's very small, I have a working space heater, plus I have 4 100 watt bulbs putting off heat.
I covered the windows and doorways, in the Living Room, with blankets but the space is just too big. So the boys have been staying with me in my room for the most part. As soon as hubby gets home I'm going to ask him for $50. to buy a large space heater.
Because we have no heat, we also have limited water. As soon as the weather started staying in the 20's, I shut off the main water valve then drain the pipes of excess water to try to keep them from bursting.

The cats have clawed their way into the AC vents again which is driving the dog crazy because she can smell them and then the cats bang on the vents trying to get out.... Tiny keeps getting through the insulation and under the tub which is driving the bunny insane and making me worried, so he's been staying in my tiny room too.

If this keeps up, we may have to move back to the Farm for a while. Though getting in and out is a bit of a bear, at least there's heat (and a working fridge and stove/oven)

Rave: got a job! I just heard back about interning for a prominent media/tech blog. It doesn't pay much, but it is slightly more than my unemployment, so I know I can live on it, and it's actually a writing job, which is what I went to school for.

Grats Taosaur! I second what Tommo said

My current rant is that I am unbelievably sleepy but I'm stubbornly trying not to close my eyes. It hasn't been working out for me so far.
A couple of hours ago, I sat at my desk and my 17 year old asked why a teddy bear (collectible bear) had a rabbit coat on. Only, I didn't hear that, I was snoozing away in my seat and started explaining to him that it was a wolf in sheeps clothes
Then I tried eating my side salad and I kept falling asleep with food in my mouth. At one point, my dog made some noise and I startled so much I nearly threw the salad into the air.
I finally gave in and fell asleep for a couple of hours, then my hubby called asking how the new space heater was working.

And I have yet to properly clean my thumb. As I was struggling to take the heater out of the box, the cardboard gave me a nasty "paper" cut. It bled a lot at first. It looks like an upside down wide "v" (it reminds me of a mahjong character I call the "dove" )

hehee... nah, I would take that one to be "Spring". It must be a different set. There's one shape that looks like a cursive "r" and a symbol for North, South etc.
I call it the dove but it looks absolutely nothing like a bird
When I was a kid, I have an extremely faint memory of collecting sand dollars. If you broke them open a certain way (?) there would be pieces inside of them in the shape of a "v". (Sort of like cutting an apple to reveal a "star") My grams had some sort of religious plaque that contained those pieces and it spoke of doves. So my brain has always linked it all together in a hodgepodged sort of way

My rant is that the heater I bought is absolute crap. It's almost as cold in the living room as it is outside, but it's too icy outside at this moment to exchange it at Wal-mart. I changed my gmail status to "WeNeedHeaterPlz", so when hubby woke up he gave me an extra one of his to use until I can get a new one. It's for a medium sized room but it's better than nothing.
The water is also frozen somewhere, because none will pass through the pipes when I turned it on to flush the toilet. We better not have another stinking water leak!!!!!

I'm also raging somewhat over my hubby's expectations of me. He grumbled that I didn't get the furnace serviced this past summer. 1) Financially, I can do nothing on my own (literally) 2) He expected me to clean out the vents POSSIBLY removing them from underneath the modular then sticking them back.
Okay, I can stick a brush through the vents to get big stuff. But removing them? Seriously? The whole underside of the home has a thick black plastic covering everything. 1) How would I find the vents without having to remove all of it 2) If I did remove all of it, how would I remove the vents? 3) I can't even buy plastic to staple (?) back up. When I "fixed" the water leak some months back, I removed the plastic from that section. I told hubby that the pipes are now completely exposed and I needed him to get me some plastic or something. It fell on deaf ears.
The pipes are STILL exposed- thus the most likely reason why they are now frozen.

I love how he seemingly thinks I'm so intelligent to be able to figure all of this out on my own, but I'm not. Not in the least.
So he's going to get grumbly that the problems are now much worse and I'm going to get grumblier because he doesn't hear anything I say.

I have to wake up at 8:30am and miraculously became tired at about 1am. After 4 hours of sleep, I've awoken without a hint of tiredness remaining. Perhaps I should stay awake until school. At least I remembered some intense dreams.

Today/yesterday was hell. I avoided a hangover but felt terrible. While drunk I think I might have angered some people, made an idiot of myself around others and fear that at least one won't want to talk to me anymore. Then today, the one person who knew I was depressed and tried to help me, I pretty much ignored and told him to fuck off (not in those words) because I felt like being alone, and that just made me worse.

I can't remember what life was like before I had this constant burden in the back of my mind. It seems to be too happy a life to have ever been true.

Edit: Haha, sorry was excited by it because my family plays them all the time. But I don't play them though, I don't gamble.

Ahhhh I figured the first 3 were numbers, but I didn't know that about the others. I just play via a game on my iPad. No gambling is involved
      I called the 4= brick, 5= house, 6= star, 7= "x", 8= Dove, 9= "r" But enlarged, it looks more like an "h"

What does the character beneath the numbers represent?

I took both alcohol AND peroxide to my cut thumb (different times lol) and it's still already minorly infected. It's warm to the touch and very red I hate to think about all the places that box could have been and just how many rodents made their mark

It's interesting how non-Chinese interpreted our words to be.

      But you're right, 4 indeed look like a brick, 5 looked like a house, 6 a star, 7 an x. 8 doesn't look like a dove to me, I can't imagined how 9 is a r.

Basically all of them are numbers, from 1 - 9.

The character below is "萬", it's pronounced as wan. It mean 10 thousand, but I've no idea what it meant for mahjhong, probably the same thing too.

I just bought some stuff off of Amazon to put our old N64 back in business. Talk about an impulse buy! The system works still, from what I can tell, but I had no controllers for it. Of course, it being me I bought more than just controllers... xD

I finally took my car in to get it fixed - wish I had got pictures, but a few weeks ago I was backing out of my driveway and this stupid little pointless step that jukes out at an angle into the driveway caught the edge of my front bumper and peeled it off. Caught me completely by surprise - I was just backing out, no big deal, and suddenly there's some kind of violent noise at the front of the car. I look and my front bumper is upside-down looking back at me over the hood! Just for a second, then it popped back down into place, but now the plastic shell is torn loose from almost all of the bolts that hold it on. There's just one secure bolt left, on the passenger side, and the bumper has been hanging down lopsided for all this time now, threatening to droop all the way down and drag on the street. Worst possible scenario I could envision it getting under my front wheel and making me wreck.

Well, on New Year's day I went to my aunt and uncle's house for lunch with my family and when I was almost there suddenly there was this terrible loud dragging scraping sound under the front of the car. It wasn't the bumper itself, but this black plastic piece underneath it. Some kind of splash guard or something. I pulled over as soon as I could get off the highway and messed with it, but there was nothing I could do, so I just got back in and drove the rest of the way with it dragging loudly and embarrassingly, scraping gravel up off the street etc.

For 2 more days I went ahead and drove it like that because I needed to stock up on groceries and stores were closed by the time I got home. It was no fun at all driving around - once I got on a fast smooth street it wasn't too noticeable, but on rough side streets it got really loud and people would all turn to look with their jaws hanging open. So I found a body shop that's on Main Street so I could take a bus home and dragged its lame as up there yesterday.

Weird thing - while I was in the shop and the guy was on the phone waiting for a list of parts he'd need to order we got to talking and it turns out he's friends with a lot of guys I new in school - guys that were all bullies and assholes. I fact a couple of them I had had run-ins with myself. But we laughed about it and how much we've changed and yet inside at some level we're still the same people. Then he did a really nice thing - instead of letting me go stand at the bus stop for half an hour in sub-freezing temps he had his shop assistant drive me home. I was a little hesitant, because the guy's best friend turns out to be a guy that used to bully the hell out of me in grade school days, and he apparently talks to this guy all the time - so while he's got my car he may well mention my name to him. But what the hell - we're not kids anymore. Right?

      Right?

Anyway, now I have food to last a good solid week and I'm socked in here waiting it out.

I woke up extremely early and am not happy about it. In fact I feel very uncomfortable, like I was used to the night, it put me in a state of mind that I liked, and being out in the daylight feels wrong now. I'm energiless and everything is more stressful, and I'm dreading getting tired early. But I also know the lack of sunlight wasn't good for me. So I have no idea what I'll do about my sleep schedule. Going to try to sleep before my next class.

My previous computer science instructor emailed me to ask if she could use some test plan I made in one of her classes, as an example to her new class. That made me feel slightly good for a few moments.

I have the tiniest sore in my throat (1, maybe 2 millimeters) but every time I move my tongue, I get the "foreign body" sensation and it feels as if something is stuck in my throat.

I woke up too LATE, which is bad, because I have to start getting up even earlier than last semester by the 9th. I need to get on a sleep schedule that is functional D:

I've been going nocturnal again and I don't like it. I used to love it, but now looking back I realize it made me feel bad the entire time. For a while there I was getting to bed around 11 and getting up at like 5 or 6, and it made me feel great (and I was productive - this is when I was writing Passing Strange). Now that I've slipped back to the old nocturnal ways I'm losing my productivity and getting dejected and morose again. I need to get back to a morning schedule.

AH, me too! I was almost on a completely consistent schedule; going to sleep at around 11-12 and waking up at 6:30 - 7:30.

Now I'm just fucked again, woke at 11:30.
I was actually tired last night at 11:30, but then my mum kept opening and closing the door and keeping me wake. So didn't sleep until like 2:00 or something.

      Massive exercise today I think....

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCKING GOGD DAMN FCU!K FUCK!

I JUST FUCKING .. fine no caps. I succeeded in sleeping but just woke up 15 minutes after class starts. This is a class with a teacher I had last semester who pretty much murders you and your family if you're late. I'm sure he'd make exceptions for the first day but I don't want to deal with walking in 40 mins late, so I guess I"m not going.... I managed not to be late for a single class of his last semester, and now I am for the first day. Don't know how I'm going to get the course outlines or w/e else I'll ened.. guess I'll have to email him. I set my alarm and have no idea why it didn't go off.

And look... it's still raining.... Well it didn't stop the last 5 days, don't know why I expected it to stop now....

That sucks about your car Darkmatters! I hope it's easy to fix and doesn't cost too much!!

Dianeva. Feel better soon. I sympathize with your sleep and energy troubles!!

ThePreserver, could you have tonsil stones? I get them a couple times a month and that's what it feels like to me. I create an unattractive suction in my mouth and pull them up to spit them out. It gives me a bit of a sore throat for a bit afterward but getting rid of that something-lodged-in-my throat sensation makes it worth it.

      Enjoy your purchases Singularity

lol, Carrot. The 9 reminds me of a cursive lower-case "r". But like I said, now that I see the symbol enlarged, it looks more like a lower-case "h"

My rant is that the water still hasn't thawed. So I walked over to hubby's earlier to use his outdoors faucet to fill a bucket for the toilet and an empty soda bottle for Ramen. Tomorrow or the next day (when it's supposed to warm up), I need to disassemble some old insulation/wrap that hubby placed around the sewage output for the RV to free a heating element. It's some sort of wire that you can wrap around pipes then plug in to keep the pipes warm. If it wasn't destroyed by the construction workers that is.
The living room is still freezing and I never did make it back to the store. I told the boys to clean up the master bedroom and we could move the living room into it. It's a smaller area (right off of the living room/kitchen) so it would be much easier to heat. But they're not interested, so I'm not interested in doing any more. When they truly start suffering they'll make more of an effort.

I'm also ranting that child support hasn't come through yet. We only have Ramen to eat at this point. Child Support was supposed to carry us until Sunday and we should have gotten it yesterday. The website hasn't even been updated since Dec. 31 so the holidays messed everything up I imagine.

So.... did everyone wake up late today? Cause I was almost late for work, because I slept in. So instead of taking a shower, and doing pretty basic hygiene, it was "Clothes, laptop, keys and gone". Showed up right at 8:30AM, which is when suppose to start.

      Yes D:

I was 20 minutes late to history...my teacher hates me lol, he said next time I'm late I go to the office. I give myself 2 days before it happens again. Oh well...hopefully I'll get more than an hour of sleep tonight, anyway. I literally couldn't keep my eyes open during math, whenever I closed my eyes for more than about 3 seconds I'd start to fall over and have weird dreams (HH?) incorporating whatever the teacher was saying. Once I dreamt I was reading what he was saying on DV...

Also I start work at McDonalds tomorrow. It can't be a hard job but I'm scared anyway >: I don't trust myself to do anything right and I don't like strangers lol
