lol. My uncle Hank was LITERALLY retarded (erm... mentally handicapped is the PC word?). He lived to be almost 60 but he had the mentality of a 9-12 year old boy. He had two other brothers who were also mentally handicapped- one was a psychopath and the other had a major speech impediment (he drove a motorcycle and had a job though). My grandmother (their sister) took care of them since 1983. I spent a lot of time around them while growing up.

My favorite uncle (Hank) nicknamed my youngest daughter tippy-toes because she walked on her tiptoes until she constantly wore shoes to break the habit by 4 years. He also called her ladybug

She, Zee'Arra, has had a bunch of nicknames. Other than the above, her friends used to call her Zero and Zeekers among others I've forgotten. Mostly, though, she just goes by Zee.

And I get "Ape"

I am Alyssa, pronounced a-lee-sa, but people call me Alissa and it's like a second name, because it's spelled that way. Not once have I referred to myself as Alissa, but over half of people I encounter continue to make the mistake. I've never had a nick-name. I have some vague memory of one friend saying she wants to call me Allie, but that never happened.

My name on here, when I played L4D2 a lot, people I played regularly with started calling me a few things: 'D', 'Die', 'Dia'. I like the last two. Sometimes public people would call me Diane and that just annoyed me because I never intended it to seem like my real name was Diane with that made up online name.

I hate having a nickname for my name, but when I was little people called me "Andi" which has just recently sprung up again.

People have tried to call me "Mandy, Manda, Manda Bear, Mander Pander" and so on.. but it doesn't hold.

I was nicknamed Çino by the Turkish people from my class a few years ago, I was mostly called like this throughout my highschool years. I still am by my friends.

To my friends back in elementary school/Jr. High, I used to be "The Luke-inator" which morphed into "Nator" by the time I was in 3rd grade. which sounded like they were calling me Ralph Nader... "Hey nator!" It was quite strange.

By my siblings and cousins who could not pronounce their "L's" I was "wukie" and despite both my age, and my older sibling's best friend's age, to her I am still "Lukie". She's now 23... 4 years older than me.

I'm called asshole a lot, but that probably doesn't count.

I'm called Mikey a lot, the people that call me that though, say it's because I look like Mikey from American Chopper, which I sure as hell do not! I've also been called Bull or Brick, found out later it was because I was always really aggressive in a fist fight, and because apparently, bumping into me (at the time I'm sure) was like running into a brick wall. And at my previous job, everyone called me by my last name to the point that I almost forgot what my first name was.
