Heads up, there may be a Great Comet next year:

      New Comet Discovered

Although, some very educated commentators also speculate that it may be the return of the Anunaki or something.

Not just one, but possibly two. Two possible 'Great Comets' coming in 2013 - Alamogordo Daily News

So excited. I have seen the Hyakutake in 1996 and it was an awesome sight. "ISON" is compared to Great comet of 1680.

Wow. I've always hated the fact that I was too young back in 1996/1997 to appreciate the comets, and now there might be 2 more!

I know how you feel. I still kick myself for missing the one in 1680. Next year should make up for it. Unless it will kill us all. Then it won't be as cool as I thought.

Wow, nice link! So we all, northern and southern hemisphere-ers, will be able to see these marvels!
      Brilliant

On the evening of March 12, the slender sliver of a crescent moon, just one day past new, will be positioned less than 5 degrees to the right of the comet, making for perhaps a very picturesque scene. Prospective observers will need to seek the most favorable conditions possible.
Get your cameras ready for that one, folks.

      Won't be going fast enough.

Fuckers cancelled it though. That was so gay, I set alarm to wake up at 4:30, couldn't get to sleep anyway, then they cancel it due to wind.
The previous record holder was getting pissed off at the guy going for it this time because he kept wanting them to look at the second radio which wasn't working.
By the time it was fixed, the wind picked up.

In 1960 I doubt the wind would have stopped anything.

Anyone in the Southern Hemisphere of the Earth catch the total Eclipse that transpired yesterday?

I wanted to share this from the Google Chrome Experimental Lab, which was just published online today. If you like stars, you'll love this, just click the image.

      I saw it
Went on a motorbike trip to Queensland to see it in totality.
I got a couple of pictures which I will upload later if they are any good.
      It was incredible.

Chang'E 2, China's lunar orbiter is also going to take pictures of it on the 13th I heard it may land on it too, but I don't know.
For some reason China is really not saying much about it :S China being China I guess?

      Gemini Meteor Shower!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow night, for everybody North and South Hemisphere
From as soon as it gets dark, to 3-4 am

Just look in the direction of the Gemini constellation, or the frying pan (Orion's belt).
Find a place with no light pollution (or very little, at least), bring some hot cocoa and enjoy!

Should be 100 to 150 an hour, plus the Moon is new, 0% full, so conditions are perfect everywhere.

Ten tips for watching the Geminid meteor shower | Astronomy Essentials | EarthSky

I might give it a go, but according to the article it was supposed to start before tomorrow night.

Lol, funny you mentioned that. Just came here to say I had the wrong night, was about to get going for the mountains tonight.
      It peaks tomorrow.
And yeah, you could see them all week and next week khh, but it peaks on the night of December 13th.

Also just found this, it might coincide with a new meteor shower, giving an extra 30 or so an hour!

Just came in. Went out twice, first time from 1 am -1:30, and 2 - 2:30. First time saw about 7, second time just 4-5.
They were coming from all over the place. From Gemini, towards Gemini and even at 90 degree angle. Coudn't figure out where the Pisces are, that should be the new meteor shower origination constellation.

Too bad I didn't notice they start after sunset. It's usually best after midnight, just before sunrise.
