Wow - great video - never knew this! Thanks!
If you have a total lunar eclipse, you see the moon in really red, because it reflects the "earth-corona" of all of earth's sunsets and sunrises, when the sun is hidden behind it, as seen from the moon - when the moon is fully in earth's shadow.

So there are red moons, and you'll have four eclipses over there in short order!
      Niice!

Lovely photo of the pleiades from your link - being blue - burning fast:

This is so cool and interesting, thank you for the info! The things I am learning and the interests I am cultivating all because my pursuit of lucid dreams is fueling renewed fascination and pursuit of knowledge. I look up at this sky with a whole new eye, not only due to new knowledge but also with the thought that I can fly up there...in my lucid dreams! I am enjoying Cosmos (new version of a show that was originally done by Carl Sagan) and Beyond the Wormhole, both with new episodes every week currently.

I fullheartedly understand, what you are saying, fogelbise!!
Our universe has such a sublime beauty - it's almost as if we were made to marvel at it.
Maybe our beauty-loving ancestors were more curious and passionate for finding knowledge and understanding?
Because knowledge and patterns are intimately entwined.

And we had no idea for such a long time, of how colourful space actually is - these nebulae look wonderfully psychedelic - even Space.com commented such.
Yes - and we LDers, who are at least theoretically able to actually go there - it is overwhelmingly fantastic to see these pictures and imagine to swim about in a star-birthing or deathbed nebula!

The famous Cat's Eye Nebula: Dying Star Creates Fantasy-like Sculpture of Gas and Dust:

The unique planetary nebula NGC 2818:

The spectacular structure of NGC 2818 contains the outer layers of a sun-like star that were sent off into interstellar space during the star' s final stages of life. These glowing gaseous shrouds were shed by the star after it ran out of fuel to sustain the nuclear reactions in its core.

Planetary nebulae fade away gradually over tens of thousands of years. The hot, remnant stellar core of NGC 2818 will eventually cool off for billions of years as a white dwarf. Our own Sun will undergo a similar process, but not for another 5 billion years or so.

This Hubble image was taken in November 2008 with the Wide Field Planetary Camera 2. The colours in the image represent a range of emissions coming from the clouds of the nebula: red represents nitrogen, green represents hydrogen, and blue represents oxygen.

Hubble Space Telescope Image of Nebula and Star V838 Monocerotis.

Now I have a hard time stopping..

"Our beauty-loving ancestors". Indeed. I think their focus was in the right place. These things are intertwined; history, philosophy, lucid dreaming, nature, space. These in turn lead to even more obsessions. I spent years playing with astrolabes, sundials, and other ancient tools, and still spend a great deal of time trying to understand ancient Egyptian and Sumerian cosmology/astronomy (for the record, there are no aliens involved). One could spend a lifetime in only one area. And yes, Fogelbise, I find that in my lucid dreams when I should be conducting an experiment or exploring my subconscious I just end up floating under the stars to a piece of music instead. Why not? Experience is everything.

      And why stop?

I so wish, there would be aliens involved within my lifetime ..

First I thought, this must be one of the fantasy-impressions of nebulae - but no:

Double-post, I know, but I found this article & video interesting:

Also, though it is not exactly space-oriented, I thought I would post this as well:

Dear me, nowadays this thread is as void as the vacuum itself...

Found this guys! LIVE STREAM video of Earth from the ISS. Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth

It goes down every now and again to switch cameras, check back in a couple of minutes if it's got the message up. It takes about 90 minutes total to go around Earth.

I still remember how the thinking was that there's an extreme scarcity of the stuff in the universe, more and more good news coming in, pointing to us having lots of company all around us. I always chose to believe that...
