Thread: If there was another planet would you go?

Well... if we just discovered it then it's probably in a better shape than the current Earth... so why not.

But if it's the same otherwise, then that's the only reason why i would go.

Ten times bigger and only double the amount of land?

I wouldn't go, because on a planet 10 times larger than Earth, the gravity would preclude such luxuries as being able to walk around, and would probably prevent blood circulation, leading to a rather quick death.

I agree with Forsaken, gravity would be a big problem.

It's a common misconception, but Earth isn't actually 100% earth...

Nobody considered about the human factor? Do we have so many lone souls on DV?

Being in another planet will lengthen the distance between the people I like and love, especially those who are already far from me in the first place. So no. Unless it's fun!

Exploring newly discovered earth-like worlds: this isn't really a question for me. It would be more of the natural course of an uncontrollable inclination than a choice.

What about the natives and animals that live there?

If the planet were a bit smaller, like... between 50% and 150% of earth's size...

I'd totally go.

He should have just stated a planet the size of Earth with more lands and less seas. So there's no gravity change issues.

I guess that means we'll need to consume more calories and generally be more lean?

You know this becuase you've seen the core of the planet??? it probably just has a compositions similar to mars's core. Or its core is made out of marshmallow.
I would definetely go, so many new nature to explore, businesses to set up, a good evironment without the pollution for my children, unusual animals, huge quantities of metal.
Due to the increased spin on such a large planet I would live longer than people on earth.

Even if it was made out of marshmallow, you would be crushed in the core. Due to weight of the planet pressing towards the core, I would think it wouldn't be made out of marshmallows. Also how do you even know the composition of mars's core? I wouldn't think so, seeing that the planet is ten times bigger.

Also, what does the spin on a large planet have to do with living longer. I would think due to the sudden change of planets, it would make life much more difficult.

Edit: Also, to answer your first question, I know this because of the planet's size.

There's a flaw to this, because diamond will become so abundant, it would no longer be valuable, also, making a home would be very hard since the main component of the planet is diamond.
