Only time in my life I remember crying was from this recording, when I heard it for the second time. Normally my eyes would get a little watery if it's really good, but this was a surprise. Tears were rolling down my face from about 20 seconds into it untill the end. But one thing; if music doesn't give you hope, it's pretty bad music

      Wonderful idea for a thread!
So many come to mind, honestly... I first choose:

      "Stay True" by Thursday.
(for overall feeling and compelling lyrics)

      Hope is essential.
Even when words fail and/or there is no grand accompaniment to the living moment...hope compells us to be grateful and to grow. With hope so much is possible, but without it so little.

Music has a knack for conveying emotion, at times without words.
It is poetic in the way all art is, in that it can be tricky to describe but you truly know it when you experience it.

With or without grand instrumentation, exquisite lyrics or notsomuch...
Music touches us like very few auditory things can.

Vaporwave, I like the relaxing feeling that I get from these songs.
Also, the vaporwave art style is really creative and nostalgic which makes me happy because it feels like a place where I can enjoy thinking back about re-living in the (early) 2000's and also get that 90's and 80's feeling while listening to retro cgi elevator music :^)

I know it's a song called "Come, Sweet Death" and it's about committing suicide, but I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion and End of Evangelion (the movie this is from) at a pretty critical time in my life (when I was 14 and again when I was 16/17). The experience of it all culminated in this song and what was going on in the film when it was playing. It had a lasting impact on me, and really helped me get through life during that time. It allowed me to move on, grow up, and learn to love myself. I guess that's about as qualified as a song can get when it comes to giving somebody hope.

This is one of my all time favorite pieces of music : Pachelbel's Canon in D major. I didn't listen to it for half a year, and just recently one night as I went through all my favorite songs, I listened to it again... It was 3am, and I was sitting alone in my room, that was only dimly lit by a small table lamp. The music started and as the song was halfway through, I was no longer sitting in my room. I was sitting on a carriage going through a town of Victorian Era, watching all the people going about their daily lives with smiles on their faces. I kept visiting places like beautiful and sunny parks, cathedrals and buildings, but soon I was no longer able to do it. The song just became... beautiful. My face became numb from crying. Every string stroke and note played caressed my soul and showed me, what true beauty is. I almost couldn't take it. I felt like I didn't deserve it and yet another chord played, making me press my eyelids close even harder with tears flowing down my cheeks. I think it was the most emotional Iv ever been when listening to music. I like all kinds of music, most of my favorite songs are from this century. But I have to say that modern artists have little compared to the old masters. I can't imagine what it must have been like, to only hear this masterpiece once in a life time during that era. I'm saving this for another six months... and then I'll be in heaven again.

Tip: Listen to this after midnight, alone in your room, with only a little lamp light.

"Beating Of Hearts", "Ballet For A Rainy Day", "Wrapped in Grey"... all these are XTC songs penned by Andy Partridge...

"Undertale" - but you need the context to really get it along with "Hopes And Dreams" which shows up later in the game...

Most of the lyric to Spacehog's hit "In The Meantime" (not counting the middle/bridge/interlude - whatever it's called - section)

      Speaking of Justin Hayward:

This is from a full length album called Jeff Wayne's Musical War of the Worlds, which is one of my all time favorites - especially around Halloween. Here's a playlist with all of it (except for the first video for some weird reason). Justin sings several of the songs.

A live stage performance can be seen here, but the speed is cranked up a bit and it sounds a little off. Not too bad though. Amazing stage show as well.

Most of the music I listen to is either thematically vapid/straightforward or is altogether very dark/morose in its presentation, tonality or content. And this song is no exception to that--but it still has underpinnings of hope--and I find that quite nice. I hope you do as well.
