Making chi and flying vertically? n00b questions

I had my best LD ever last night. When I first became lucid I made some chi balls with some DCs. It was pretty intense, like a blue fire in my hands. I didn't have to much control over it though. Then I finally flew for the first time. I went outside closed my eyes and expected to fly and sure enough I slowly rose up off the ground. People weren't exaggerating about the feeling of this, it was incredible. But no matter how hard I tried I couldn't fly vertically well. When I did I would quickly lose altitude. Any tips? And whenever I would close my eyes it would take forever for my vision to come back. I remember thinking of it as a loading screen from a video game, but I knew I didn't want to rush it and accidentally open my real eyes. This happen to anyone else?

That's strange lol, I was actually having trouble flying horizontally (the way Superman does) a few weeks ago.

You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

Yeah, no tips, just share that it's hard to control sometimes! Horizontally occasionally I have nights where I keep hitting the ground and can't fly. This morning I had an amazing lucid dream I could fly so fast that the air was whizzing past my ears like I was in a jet.

I'm putting it down to focus and consciousness. The more you get the hang of lucid dreaming and become conscsious in that state the more control you will have. Lack of control for me is often paired with lack of lucidity, the dreams where I can't control flying for example I wake up more quickly or lose consciousness.

So I guess, keep at it and keep getting better and you'll get control, although occasionally you will lose it for no reason.

Did you ever try flapping your arms (like a bird) ?

The mind is going to take what you know and integrate it into your dream movements and experiences. For some flying is like swimming (me, for example) and others fly like a bird or a superhero.
How you fly seems to depend on what image and perceived ability influences your mind the most.

I grew up swimming in a nearby 1,000-foot long spring-fed pool. It was a great place to swim. I spent so much time there that being in and under the water was my natural environment, particularly during the hot Texas summer. The feeling was freedom, like flying. My flying-dreams reflect this.

I have flown an airplane but you don't feel any wind or resistance to your body. Swimming on the other hand gives direct feedback through a fluid mass.

How do you perceive the act of moving through the air? Feel the air rushing past you and think about what you would do to control your flight. From this you may be able to figure out how to control your flying dreams.

Try swimming trough the air, always worked for me in the past.
Anyone know a good way to find your dream guide?

I'll definitely try the swimming when I get to the point where I can fly again lol

thebigm, I almost forgot about focusing on my consciousness. That use to be my original focus, but like many others I got distracted by all the crazy fun stuff haha
