      Am I the only one...

who doesnt wake up when I close my eyes in a dream? I see all kinds of posts about waking up if you close your eyes and I just dont get t. That has never hapened to me. It has caused the dream to change before but even then is only if I want it to.

Unless Im trying to teleport by closing my eyes and visualizing a new location everything stays exactly the same just as it woud in real life.
I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.

I don't wake up either, so no, you aren't the only one.
I guess it has to do with the general stability of dreams for people, mine are pretty stable, so that must be why.

Maybe because you still manage to keep awareness on your surroundings?

I always wake up when I open my eyes.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Concentration

It's all about concentration. If your having a lucid dream and want to wake up you have to concentrate on doing so, even when having a non lucid dream. I stand completely still in my dream and concentrate on basically zoning into my body and out of my mind. Thats just me, sometimes it takes a while.
Sitting or standing, something that cannot be identified at the moment. Walls and other obstacles seem to stop existing as my eyes reach whatever space I am trapped in. I search for answers to my confusions. I search for answers in my darkest hours of life. I search and look, look and search, but darkness is all I find.

I try not to, because it is not worth the risk. Sometimes it wakes me up, sometimes it sends me into a false awakening, other times, it just changes the dream scene. Anytime you distance yourself from the dream environment, you run the risk of becoming aware of your physical body, back in bed. I try to stay engaged visually and physically to keep the dream vivid.

but even without vision you still have at least 4 other senses and because its a dream maybe even more than that. Losing one shouldnt have that much affect. You can still hear and smell and feel and maybe taste if you are in a tasting situation lol.

In one LD I closed my eyes before going into a room and I when I opened my eyes I could just walk in, so I agree: all about concentration.

I remember in one LD i went outside through the back door to my house, and it was dark. i noticed a pair of night vision goggles on the ground, and put them on, closing my eyes as i did so, and i had no problems AT ALL. everything was the same when i opened them, except for the fact that i had night vision goggles on. although i did wake up shortly after, i don't think it had anything to do with that. i think it's belief. if you think you'll wake up if you close your eyes, you will. but no, you're not the only one.
I have returned, but I'm not the same

Nah, I haven't woken up from closing my eyes before. Although, the times that I did close my eyes I wasn't lucid. Once I spun around to teleport to a different scene and I didn't wake up from it. Actually, I usually only wake up when I'm at the end of my dreams, even when I've wanted to wake up I couldn't.

Sometimes, sometimes not. I usually see through my eyelids, except not everything's as clear. So therefore I don't close my eyes

Spinning never worked for me. But closing my eyes is a sure way to get a vivid and lucid FA

Only one time has closing my eyes ever caused me to wake up. It wasnt a lucid dream either. i thought i was going to bed I closed my eyes and then fell back onto my bed. As soon as I hit my pillow I woke up in the exact same position in real life.

I think it is simply, if you believe you wake up when you close your eyes, you will. This never happened to me until I read this thread.

Im sorry moongrass. I figured this thread would reinforce the fact for yo that you dont have to wake up when you close your eyes though.
