Your rapid waking could be a deep-seated expectation, perhaps even brought on by the act of stabilizing. Do you have long non-lucid dreams? How vivid, clear, and stable are your non-lucids? Do...

I just woke up from potentially one of the most influential lucid dreams I've ever had. The way I got lucid, I believe, was through a combination of WBTB (Wake Back To Bed) and MILD (Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams).
Becoming Lucid
The first thing I remember is seeing a bunch of different times. I wasn’t exactly worried, but I was thinking about the time because I had an alarm set, and I thought it was around seven-something. So I dreamed that I was checking the time—on my phone, my computer, and my watch. But in reality, I wasn’t actually moving; I was just seeing those times. That was probably my first clue.
The first time I saw was 19:48, which is 7:48 PM, not AM. But at the time, I was like, "Yeah, that makes sense. I woke up earlier and was trying to go back to sleep, so 7:48 sounds right."
Then I saw the time on my phone—it said 7:56 or something similar. I remember thinking, “Wait, that doesn’t seem right, I literally just checked.” Finally, I checked my watch, and it read 10:10:100. That’s just not possible. That was the tipping point. Three completely different times, one of which was impossible. I immediately thought, “Yep, I’m dreaming.”
So first off, shoutout to reality checks—because they’re paying off. Now, I was wearing my sleep mask, and I tried to take it off. Nothing happened. I felt it come off, but another one was under it apparently. I kept removing sleep masks to find new ones infinitely spawning on top of the one on my face. I'd take one off, say, “Alright, lemme take off my sleep mask.” and another one would still be on. Again and again. I started laughing and was like, “All right, I guess I’m just not gonna fuckin see in this dream lmao”
Lick Stabilization
Then I remembered to stabilize the dream. I got on the floor and tried licking it.
This was probably the most fascinating part of the dream.
It was like my brain didnt have my sense of taste loaded in memory. My sense of taste is rarely used in dreams I can remember. When I first licked the floor, I couldn’t taste anything. My tongue crackled as if my taste buds were being used for the first time in my life. I cannot stress this enough- my sense of taste was straight up GONE. What I tasted instead was what I would imagine a missing texture named like, “[PLACEHOLDER]” or something to taste like. It was like my brain had forgotten how to taste. Even after I woke up, my tongue was still tingling.
Instead of flavor, I saw these bright rainbow flashes—kind of like impact frames from modern One Piece. Now, I was keeping my eyes closed since I couldn't see anyway due to the sleep mask, but after the third or fourth lick, my vision came back. When I opened my eyes, I was right where I expected to be- on the floor, in my room. And the stabilization? Insanely strong. Four licks gave me the same level of stabilization that walking around touching everything for 45 seconds would’ve given me. So it seems like taste is my strongest stabilizing sense. I think it varies person to person. I want to try smell next. I’ve never really smelled anything in dreams either. The only senses I’ve used regularly are sight, sound, and touch. I haven’t explored taste, smell, or vestibular senses like balance or proprioception.
The Plan: Omni Lucidity*
I have a plan to obtain something I call Omni Lucidity—the ability to lucid dream whenever I want. It’s probably not that hard with good practice and I seem to be on my way there anyway, but I’ve got an idea for making it more consistent and easier to pull off, provided you can already get there. Think of it as some QoL. So. The idea is to create a dream character while awake who’s sole purpose is to be my dream guide. Get them to find me in dreams and make me lucid, either by telling me I’m dreaming repeatedly or by forcing lucidity into me. The tricky part is getting the lucidity required for the final step, finding them in a lucid dream and making your wish of their purpose known; essentially activating them. Funnily enough, I’ve actually gotten it to work once before, but it happened spontaneously! Back then I hadn’t yet activated my dream guide, Francesca, and still haven’t to this day, so I KNEW it could work. But recently, I thought deeper: everything in the dream is my subconscious. Dream characters, objects, environments—they’re all just pieces of it. So instead of telling a character, why not tell the dream itself? So I shouted “Omni Lucidity!”, and then said, “The next time I’m in a dream, find me and make me lucid.”
*This happens right after the sleep mask thing, but it’s here for flow.
Realization After Waking
After all that, I pretty much immediately woke up. And I think I’ve finally figured out why I always wake up after stabilization: It’s not the stabilization that ends the dream—it’s the moment I question my lucidity afterward. I had always wondered whether or not this “dream like” feeling of existing in a dream, characterized by what really can only be described as a tingling at the back of my soul, was indeed a part of the dream or a just product of hazy dream memories. But now I'm sure—it's real for me at least. After stabilization, that distinct feeling goes away, and the dream becomes fully and completely indistinguishable from the waking world. Here, even after everything I've been through, it's hard to believe I haven't yet woken up. And once I doubt that I’m still lucid, that’s when the dream ends. My dreams just aren’t long enough to continue after lucidity ends. So as long as I stay lucid, the dream continues. It’s kind of funny—after licking the ground three or four times, I found myself on the floor in my room, just as expected after doing WILD. The floor tasted dusty and gross, like I imagined it would. But the stabilization was so effective that it brought back my sight after just a few licks.
Final Thoughts
I learned so much from this dream. Tonight, I’ll get to test whether speaking directly to the dream—my subconscious—actually works. I know this operates on belief, and if I don’t believe it’ll work, maybe it won’t. But with the licking stabilization, I didn’t really have any expectations either, and that still worked. Still, it’ll be more powerful if I can talk to Francesca myself.
As I said at the beginning: This dream has the potential to be the most influential and interesting lucid dream I’ve ever had.
I was riding a bus, and after some time, my stop came up. The door closed before I could do anything, and I ended up hanging off the front of the bus. It was going incredibly fast, with the bus driver actively trying to shake me off.
Eventually, the bus *turned into a jet*, and the bus driver was now my *pilot*. I figured the city must be restricted airspace because suddenly, we were being chased by police. We could outrun most of them, but eventually, they started shooting out these **Bomb Rush Cyberfunk**-style chains that latched onto the jet and slowed us down.
We landed on a rooftop and tried to make a run for it—doing parkour or something—and suddenly, I realized *I was Spider-Man*. It didn’t help much, though. The chains now dropped this *metal scrap dust* onto the ground that made it *really painful* to walk. I surrendered, but I didn’t know what happened to the pilot.
I ended up in prison, though I wasn’t too worried—*I’m literally Spider-Man*, after all. I looked around and eventually found my pilot friend. He was in the same prison and even the same unit as me. I asked him, “Why the hell did they put us together?”
He chuckled and said, “I have no idea. It’s like they want us to escape.”
I wasn’t planning to escape just yet. I knew I could at any time. Instead, I wanted to use my super strength to earn money and buy the not-free lunch for everyone—get them on my side.
A few days passed, and apparently, the prison allowed field trips? I found a guy who didn’t want his *hoverboard*, so I took it. It had been so long since I’d ridden one that I was terrible at it. When we got back to the prison, I knew they weren’t going to let me keep it, so I just handed it over to the first guard I saw.
Back inside, they tried explaining to me that I needed to paint something—or maybe print something? I’m not sure. They were speaking Spanish, and they were speaking it really fast. Luckily, my pilot buddy spoke Spanish—he’s Mexican, though I don’t know where in Mexico he’s from.
Anyway, he didn’t help me, and I eventually woke up.
Ps. Lack of markdown is kinda annoying. Is it here and i am dumb?
Me and a friend were taking this elevator down. I’m not sure exactly what was going on—maybe zombies on each floor or something. As we descended, the floor numbers actually went *up*, so we started at Floor 1. Floor 1 was pretty easy. The swords we were using cut through the bodies really well—we were basically one-shotting everything. On **Floor 2**, things got a bit more difficult. At some point, we were told that we could go back into the elevator and ride it back up if we wanted to leave. But if we tried a floor we couldn’t handle, we could die and lose everything. So we were a little cautious.
By the time we got to **Floor 3**, it got rough. Zombies (or whatever they were) weren’t dying in one hit anymore. It took multiple strikes, and we had to use teamwork. Things were getting dicey, so we went back up. I think the floor above was a school or something. Later on, my friend told me that we missed a **secret on Floor 3**—a hidden entrance. I went back down by myself to check it out. Before that, I was just kind of walking around. Apparently, we were part of a secret group killing these things, and no one else knew. So it was me and a few insiders—like a covert squad.
While I was doing recon near the elevator, trying to get a sense of how bad **Floor 4** might be, I overheard some goons talking. They were complaining that their floor wasn’t as nice as “the clean room,” which, apparently, was what Floor 3 was. A clean room? Before I went back down, one of my hacker friends was gathering intel. I don’t remember what came of that. Eventually, I found the secret area. It was a really **liminal space**—like an indoor mall with a ceiling painted blue to mimic the sky. It was clearly abandoned. There was a bike there that somehow still worked, even though its front wheel turned in the opposite direction of the handlebars. There was also a longboard, similar to the one I have in real life but with different wheels.
While exploring, I think I found the **leader**. He had this portal ability and was surprisingly friendly. I started asking him questions—trying to figure out his motivations. I don’t remember exactly what he said, but at some point, I thought, *“You know what? That’s so stupid, it’s kind of admirable.”* We shook hands. He didn’t attack or anything. He actually helped me get back home. Apparently, you can drive back home from there—but I think he just **ported me** using his portal rings. Those rings were really cool—purple smoke, and you couldn’t see through them. Kind of like a certain Pokémon’s ability.
I got the impression this guy would beat me in a fight, but his motivations were more complicated than I thought. I even asked him, “Hey, you don’t need to teach me everything, but in a couple of sentences, how do you do the portal thing?” I *really* wish I could remember what he said.
When I got back, I found out some interesting stuff:
- He had lied to me.
- He was actually the father of the girl on my team—the hacker.
- And apparently, he used some kind of Genjutsu ability, but it didn’t work on me because I wasn’t present when he activated it. I remember thinking at the time, “There’s no way to know if anything he said was true, but then... why be so nice to me?"
Now that I think about it... that guy was Aizen from Bleach. I’m not sure if he created the zombies—or whatever we were fighting. Honestly, I don’t even know if they *were* zombies. Just... things we were slashing. Bad people? Question mark?
No Dreams Recalled. Frequent sleep interruptions via dehydration and temperature.
This dream lasted about three to four minutes. I was with one of my friends, and we were watching something. After she left to go to the bathroom, I woke up—and then I DEILD back into the dream. I was stabilizing for what felt like two or three minutes, running my hand across the walls, floors, and other surfaces. It worked to a decent degree, but I kind of forgot that I wanted to try to use multiple senses to stabilize. I wasn’t really expecting to get anything here, so my plan wasn't in my head. I just went on autopilot—but autopilot seemed to work. The dream got quite vivid. After I felt like it was in a pretty good place, I stopped stabilizing. I think I wanted to summon something, but the dream immediately ended after I stopped stabilizing.
I also want to investigate the possibility that I go into a FA rather than waking up. It might be that after stabilizing FAs rather than full wakeups happen (at least for me).
