Hi everyone. I am new. Great site. Great people.

Does anyone know about or have interest in Wicca?

Hello! Welcome to the forums. I studied Wicca a few years ago, and although I'm not Wiccan now, I know quite a bit about it. I also know some stuff about other Pagan type things. ^^ If you want to chat or anything, feel free to send me a PM.

I don't know much about wicca, but know a fair bit about pagan beliefs. (I use the word in inverted commas because the term 'pagan' is actually a derogatory and inaccurate term created by the early Catholic church)

Though I'm a complete atheist and skeptic about pretty much everything, I understand there ARE quite a few members on this site who follow wiccan beliefs and practices. From memory, an (VERY unfortunately Ex-) Global Mod of the forum, A Lost Soul, I believe was to some extent wiccan. Where has A Lost Soul gone, by the way? I miss her, she was such a fantastic young woman! )

A few other members as well I think. My adoptive mum and good friend on this forum, Gwendolyn, has a fair bit of knowledge about shamanistic type practices and beliefs, and though that's different from wicca, if you're interested, I'd suggest contacting her.

Wicca = A polytheistic Neo-Pagan nature religion inspired by various pre-Christian western European beliefs, whose central deity is a mother goddess and which includes the use of herbal magic and benign witchcraft.

I think Wicca provides fundamental beliefs to the nature of spirituality, but unfortunately, is not thorough enough in it's faith.

I could be false, and just not know enough about it, but the avenue from which they take towards spirituality seems to me... outdated.

Just my two cents.

i studied wicca a tiny bit, mostly for comparative reasons, although what i learned did help me a little.

well Wicca in my terms is a very old and repectable outlook on magick and what you should and should not do. i forget the name, but i think theres a list of a few guidelines wiccans have to abide by. futhermore, it seems more like a way of magick depending on interactions and relationships between people, and getting along with people. i think its also very serious, but has its fun rituals and ceremonies.

one of the misconceptions to non-magick people and non-metaphysics people in general is that wiccans cannot do "bad" magick against people, otherwise they would not be wiccans. that is, magick harming someone (physically or mentally) or manipulating someone's will.

basically yay for Wicca :yumdumdoodledum: , for keeping their magick clean and being fun people to be around.

wouldn't this be in the "religion-spirituality" section?

times ago i would have raised my little hand saying "me too"

but then i was killed.
well, sort of. not literally.
so i just say "doh"

"doh" lol thats funny. Homer Simpson is a legend. How were you killed?

Anyway I've done a little research on Wicca, it seems fairly new to me, not very complicated and very accepting of most things. It's much more believable than Christianity (to me) just due to the fact that it doesn't piss people off. Which is cool.

And yeah, I guess this would fit under the religion-spirituality section.

I am certainly surprised at the response that this post has gotten.
My wife says the same thing. Accepting and believable. Like anything, IMO, you can't believe everything you read.
But many would jump to the conclusion, as I did that it was a bunch of hokey poky. From what i have seen it is far from that. While some of It may be a little hard for me to swallow, much of it is very down to earth.

I guess it must have been the wicked witch of the east who began Wicca.

I am guessing Satan > and the wicked witch of the West, are too busy shagging.
