      Dream Recorder!

I ran across a link showing technology that may one day allow machines/computers to record and play back our dreams as the dreamer sees them. Progress is already being made.

This has big brother and the thought police written all over it, but GOD would I love to record my dreams and watch other people's dream journals!

I think it would be neat to do this on an infant. However I don't see that going well with other people since the infant doesn't have any say in it..

If they ever make this small enough that it could be owned person-to-person, you better believe I'm buying it. Except, by that time I'd probably be eighty years old and dreaming of prunes and rotten teenagers...

      I got a better idea

effff these traditional computers, our brain works a different way

it would be better to use AI ... yeah too much star trek, I know, but a traditional computer can`t interpret the data the way our brain creates it

I think I'll be 80 by the time this works at all. You have a chance to see it. I'm hoping this technology improves faster than one would imagine.
I think this would run a close second to lucid dreaming.

Seems like a good idea but I don't like the idea of someone else seeing my personal dreams that I don't want to be shared with...

I can't see anyone granting access to their dreams without an opportunity to insert that common movie blurb, "This film has been edited for content."
Assuming something like this could bu purchased by you and me for personal use, we would have the opportunity to upload a dream-vid instead of journaling.
Sh1t! I wouldn't want to leave the house! I'd be watching everybody's DJ! Spielberg would have to step aside. I think Video DJ's would take over the movie
      industry.

Seriously! I would be absolutely addicted if I could watch other people's dreams.
Of course, I'd like to re-live some of my own.

I haven't seen Paprika, but the trailer looks good.

      as well.
Oh definitely would re live some too!
I bet they could reverse engineer the imager, and with specific enough magnets, stimulate parts of the brain and recreate the dream
but probably not in our lifetime =[

Well, it apparently works at the giant pixel size--kind of a different meaning of Mega Pixels.

It certainly doesn't work at making your dreams fit for the big screen. I think they will get there, but it needs to be before I die.

Am I mistaken, or is this wonderful new machine perhaps known as an MRI scanner?

Also I don't see any actual dream reading going on. They put together a few simple patterns shown to a test subject, the resolution is 10x10 and the color grayscale and extremely unstable.

If I am correct, the person thought of an image, the machine read the image from the subject's brain, and showed it on screen.
I don't think an MRI machine works that way.

Yea, the image quality is poor, but would you have told Galileo that his telescope offered a poor quality image of Jupiter?

There were similar threads around with already much more detailed videos, can't find one of them though.

On another note, how does this fit into the research section? I mean this subforum is for investigation and experiments of the members here and not for reposting things from other sites like youtube. Why is it that I barely see half of the threads here going according to the LSOP even though they're stickied for a reason?
Personal Records so far: Max lucids per day: 2 | Max lucids per week: 4 | Max lucids per month: 8 | Max dreams recalled in one night: 17
      Longest lucid dream: ~35min | Highest flight: zoomed out of common existence [WTF?] | Fastest speed: FTL | DILD/EILD/DEILD [X] | WILD/VILD [X] | MILD/FILD/HILD [ ]
Interested to know how I got 17 dreams in one single night? And how I think I still could Improve? Check out my new and improved Dream Recall Compendium: The Dream Recall Compendium

Too bad you can't find any of the more detailed videos. I would have loved to have seen them.

I'm sorry to ruffle you feathers. As I recall, this was the best place I could come up with to put my post. If it was inappropriate, perhaps a moderator would be willing to move this thread. It certainly makes sense that this would be a place to discuss DVcentric experiments.

Just read through the LSOP. Yea, this is for DV community experiments. So, why ARE only half the posts following the intention of the sub-forum? I smell opportunity.

There must be a way to make the purpose of this sub-forum more visible, or to have another place to repost things from other sites like youtube.

      Thanks for the heads-up.
