      Wink DEILD Test

So I recently became more interested in DEILD. I used to attempt DEILD before, but I don't think I really knew how to do it. But now I'm coming back to it and wish to make it one of my main techniques, for I really like its concept. ^^ I will be posting my progress here every day, and others, if you would like, please contribute or offer feedback.

There isn't a set time period for how long this test will go. It will probably go 30 days, or until I can reach 1 lucid per week with DEILD.
I will be performing DEILD through mantras before I go to sleep. Mainly a mantra that will affirm that I wake up after my dreams and lay still.

If anyone would like to join me on this "journey", please feel free. ^^

You should try adding SSILD - it seems to complement DEILD perfectly. Just don't do the brief WBTB that's recommended for classic SSILD.

A lot people do not understand what a DEILD really is. You big human brain processes your daily info during dreams . The single most important element of a successful DEILD is visualizing the dreamscape you awoke from. Mantras, and other affirmations, are important but not as important as visualizing the imagery you just emerged from. 'Dream Exit' is just what it means. You exit a dream... you wake up... and you attempt to reenter the dream world lucid. Visualize the dream you were having. The big human brain really does want to complete a dream. Will yourself to become lucid.

That is true - I guess stopping to SSILD would detract from that come to think of it.

Yes that makes sense. I should focus on the visualizing part a lot more. But I think I'll take some baby steps first - I'm not very good at waking up after dreams, so I'll focus more on that first. Once I'm able to wake up after my dreams, then I'll practice laying still. And whenever I successfully lay still, I will focus on imagining part of the dream I just had.

Just recently I had a DEILD/DILD. I actually tried something that I had read in Xanous' dream journal.

I had just become lucid in a dream, underwater, and everything was black. I felt like I was waking up. Instead of doing what I had done before (visualizing the dream scene I was just in), I did something else. In one of Xanous' DJ entries, I saw that when he did a DEILD, he imagined that he was riding a bike, with the movements and everything, so I did that. I remembered a part of my scene (a few eagles flying around) and imagined I was one of those, and "moved" my arms like I had a pair of wings. After a bit, it suddenly felt real. I feel that if I had done some more visualizing, I would have entered a dream.

Just a suggestion that you may want to try out if you want.

Good luck! I'll follow along though I might not post every day. DEILD is my main technique nowadays, mostly because it's the most convenient way to fit lucid dreaming into my schedule.

Like faceonmars, I really think of DEILD as dream re-entry. The previous dream is the most salient image in my head so it feels natural to just fall back into it.
I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

Sounds cool! I'll give it a try whenever I become lucid ^^

Thank you! ^^ Alright, that's fine.
      I agree.

      Day 1/Attempt 1

      Went to sleep: 11 p.m.
      Awakenings (that I remember): 6:15 a.m.
      Time woken: 7 a.m.

So I put a lot of energy into my mantras last night before I fell asleep. Although, I don't remember waking up at all, except for after a pretty long dream (at 6:15), on which I wasn't aware enough to lie still. Before I knew it I had rolled over and opened my eyes.

What confuses me though, is while using the same mantra a while ago, I was able to wake up after every 30 minutes. I'm serious. After the first 5 hours of sleep, I kept waking up after 30 minute increments. This has only happened to me once, though, and was a couple weeks ago. Maybe I'm not focusing enough on my mantra and what it really means. If any of y'all want to know what it is, my mantra is: "I wake up after my dreams and lie still."

I guess I could rephrase it to something different since we do actually wake up after our dreams, we just aren't aware of it.
      Follow your dreams.

Though I am not usually aware when I wake up after a dream, I would love to try focusing more on this, and get back into lucid dreaming.

      Day 2/Attempt 2

Went to sleep: Around 11:15 p.m.
      Awakenings (probably because I am sick, coughing): 6:30 a.m., 7, 7:15
      Woke up: 7:45 a.m.

I watched the new horror movie "Mama" last night, so that was probably why I didn't focus so well on my mantras. I was almost all the way under my covers, trying to block out any noise. That movie freaked me out and I couldn't stop thinking about it. XD I was too busy worrying that "Mama" would come into my room. *shudder*
So, last night was a fail. Hopefully tonight will be better and I'll be more over my nightmares. ^^

Can't wait to see how this goes, I love when people try to get good at DEILD. If you ever have normal DILD's they are a good medium to use for learning DEILD as you can sometimes witness waking up. I like try incorporate other techniques with it so I can get that practice for DEILD, although I would recommend getting good at waking up first.
      Good luck

      Night 1 and Night 2
Both nights weren't good . The first night I was super tired because I had got home late from a skiing competition, and slept soundly throughout the entire night. Last night I spent the night at my friends house, and we got to bed pretty late.

I can't tell how much times I woke up at night, because I remember only one, but I feel like there was more of them.
Woke up with eyes closed, motionless. Tried to recall the last moment of the dream, but I couldn't. It took me way too much time to recall it. When I recalled it, not much was happening. I got some HIs. I was seeing some light flashes, and a beautiful, deep blue hexagon, with its edges lighter. Then I gave up, meh I shouldn't.

      Attempts: 1 Successful awakenings: 1 Lucids: 0

I may be attempting DEILD halfheartedly in the upcoming week or so due to my practicing on my recall more.

Day 3 (not putting attempt since I didn't actually "attempt" last night)

Went to sleep: Around 9:30 p.m.
      Awakenings: 4:45 a.m., 5, 5:15
      Woke up: 5:30 a.m.

For some reason I keep waking up frequently around the time I'm supposed to wake up. I didn't do my DEILD mantras last night as I'm experimenting with other mantras (for dream recall). But I will keep posting because I could become aware at the end of the dream without the help of the mantras. ^^

I think I'll join in the test too for now. I've been practicing SSILD and I already wake up and know it before I move or open my eyes maybe 5 or more times a night, although we'll see if I remember to attempt this before I move.

      Day 1

Actually a pretty bad night for this, but I took a nap later with one awakening. I lay perfectly still but it felt uncomfortable, and my heart was beating pretty fast, too, and I couldn't remember a dream until after I moved. I think relaxing through this will be my main obstacle for now. I also need to have clearly in mind what, exactly, I will be thinking about if I can't recall the previous dream. These times I'll be trying various WILD anchors as well as SSILD.

Still working on my recall. Hopefully I will do another attempt in a couple of days once I get up waking up after a certain time down. (That's what I'm pretty much working on right now.)

      Day 2

After SSILD I did a mantra of "1, I'm dreaming, 2, I'm dreaming, 3..." while trying to visualize each number. I fell asleep doing this and then had a dream where at one point I thought to myself, 'This is like something that would be in a dream,' but never became lucid. *facepalm* Pretty close though for less than 3.5 hours of sleep, plus it seems to double as MILD even if I don't DEILD with it, so I will keep trying this for my awakenings. Only thing is I can't remember if I did this mantra today only when going to bed or if I woke up and did it. But anyway otherwise I still need to remember to not check the time but to lie still - old habit. So no true DEILD yet.
