Do you normally grapple with the problem of swallowing when you sleep?

WILD in your normal sleeping position. You need to be comfortable enough to fall asleep.

Yes, unfortunately most of the lucid dreaming tutorials you'll see are absolute rubbish. Read mzzck's stuff.

The thing with tutorials though, is you should probably take them as a base upon which to build your own method. No two people are the same, so no tutorial will work for everyone, either. We are subjectively thinking beings, what's true for us is not necessarily true for another.

So my advice would be: read tutorials, but don't take them as gospel. They're a good base, but you'll probably need to tweak them, modify them and build onto them to fit your specific needs. This is a process of trial and error.

Very true, but the fact is, some tutorials are so bad that even using them as a starting point is harmful. For example, there are still tutorials that say you need to be perfectly still to WILD. It could take a person months to figure out that this was totally wrong.

Hmm, I guess such errors would become apparant upon reading the comments? I always read comments on a tutorial.. Of course, that's only for forum-posted tutorials. Hmmm.. this *is* a big issue.

      Yeah. . .

No one who cares/realizes the problem is in a place to do anything about it without really sticking their neck out, stepping on a lot of toes, or admitting they were wrong about something.

      Hence the status quo.

Also, the bulk of comments on most well-written tutorials don't contribute anything meaningful, let alone reveal errors. This is especially true of well-written re-hashes of information everyone already takes as a given due to past tutorials.

Yeah..do the WILD in the position that you sleep. It makes things a lot easier. If you never sleep on your back it'll be harder to WILD because your body doesn't associate that position with sleep.

Also, a general tip for the swallowing problem is to prop up your head on a more fluffy pillow (or two pillows). Then the saliva will drain on its own.

Wait, you dont have to be still during a wild? Please dont bash me for not knowing this (im kinda new) but what do you do (just the physical stuff, i nailed down the mental part)

There's no physical part to a WILD. It's all mental stuff that happens when you're already falling asleep.

Actually it's okay to share your experiences and thoughts on the tutorials. I've edited some of them for typos and updated info and they are always a work-in-progress. Most of the work I did was mainly grammar but over time I expect to update quite a few of them. I've learned a great deal of information reading and posting here.

Some of the information I read I didn't understand fully until recently. Knowing more will help me and others write better tutorials.

The more you post and share the easier it will be to create comprehensive tutorials that work for a greater number of people. Please keep posting what works for you, each of you.

There's definitely been some progress made since I first posted that 7 months ago.

The WILD tutorial was quite good the last time I checked it. Much better than what it previously was.
It skips over anchors completely, but at least the information in there is accurate.

I'm more concerned that if one traces back through the provided links you'll find a multitude of contradictions and no clear link between the "new" information and the old. While I'd like credit to be given where it's due *cough BillyBob* the major issue here is that newbies who continue reading onward are going to be confused by the old content which echoes the "norm" that has been taught for so long.

Just something to keep in mind.
