      WILD and AP overlap?

I have seen WILD techniques, Visualization AP techniques, and even a Shamanic Soul Travel technique, and they are basically the same. Some time ago, before I even knew about the above techniques, I came up with my own method of "traveling" (I wasnt sure if it was soul travel, or just imagination). I would always begin in a garden that I imagined, this was my starting place. I could then walk down a path to a forest, castle, mountain and a village. Once, while walking, I entered the vibrational phase, but I sat up because I was surprised. That was a year or two ago. After a few months, I slacked in my effort and stopped "traveling". Now I want to start again. My starting place is a beach on a isolated island, at night with a full moon giving light. I always do this before bed, and it works quite well for me. I can usually enter the vibrational phase, but ive never gone past that. When I do this, am I LDing, or APing? If I do this often, will it become easier, and more "real"? And one more question, are WILD LDs and APs remembered more easily than other dreams, since there is no lapse (usually) in awareness from waking to sleeping? Thanks!

I don't know that LDs and APs are remembered more easily for any other reason than they might have more impact with the dreamer, though non lucid dreams can be just as memorable.

I would want to get someone in here experienced with AP to talk about your sensations. What interests me is your start point...do you find your beach before you fall asleep or after? That might explain the difference.

Your description reminds me of the Relto in the games Myst and Uru.

      Hello. Thanks for replying
I go to my beach before sleep. I recline my back with pillows, close my eyes, and there I am. The sand under my feet, the tropical trees behind me, and the ocean. The waves crash in sync with my breath. Are you familiar with Eckankar? In a eckankar book I read, it said that "Where your thought goes, your soul goes".

No, I'm not familiar with that, but it sounds nice. Your mind truly can take you anywhere you want to go.

You say you've never gone past the vibrational phase....could you clarify this?

I may be confised because everything you describe sounds like you're experiencing it before you fall asleep, and I want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding your words.

Im sorry for being a little unclear. Actually, I don't go to sleep doing this. When Im finished, I just open my eyes and stop. But I have one several occasions started to feel vibrations, and start to lose sensation of my physical body. But I have never continued after that.

I get it now, thank you.

The body does seem to enter a phase of disconnection during periods of deep relaxation. It's not lucid dreaming and not AP, but I would suspect that it would be the first step towards entering higher states of consciousness (or unconsciousness). Whatever the case, it could easily become more and more real to you, and others throughout history report all kinds of insight by doing what you do.

I suspect it could also lead to greater influence over your dreams.

The real matter is whether you enjoy it. If it's working for you, it has to be good!

      Thanks for your answer!
So everything that happens is all created by my mind when Im doing this? The beings I may encounter as well?

Hi Ben, this is something I also do, and after a while as long as I'm putting myself in a Position where I think about how the carpet feels under my feet and how the door handle feels cold as I touch it etc I get the vibrations etc, I can get into a lucid dream from here or a FA but it takes a lot of working with the vibrations because as you prob know it is difficult to get a lucid before sleeping but it is possible with a lot of practice. Keep doing it and allow yourself to go with the vibrations which it sounds like you already do and work with them. Once they go carry on and they will come back and each time they come back they come back a little stronger. Good luck with ths. Happy sleeps

I'm not very failure with this stuff but shouldn't it be moved to beyond dreaming?

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

I didnt know for sure where to put this...I thought that since it uses the basic WILD technique, it would fit here. But maybe it should have been in beyond dreaming...im sorry about that.

Vibrations are one of the signs for both WILDs and APs/OBEs. If you want to enter LD, I think you wait for images/dreamscapes to form behind closed eyelids and then enter the dream. If you want to AP/OBE, during/after feeling vibrations, think yurself to hover over your sleeping body. It happend to me only a few times, so maybe someone more experienced will answer. Happy dreams
