      Twitching while trying to WILD

OK, I know there are some topics like this, but I had to make one. So while I am trying to WILD I get these twitches. I've read other topics and there are just minor twitches (they happen to me too), but today my whole body twitches. It is very annoying. I count when I am WILD-ing, so it comes like a meditation in a way since it clears my mind and as soon as white light appears (beginning of my transition), my whole body moves and I lose it. How to get rid of them?

I've tried 61 point relaxation technique, I can't seem to pull it off, stretching group of muscles has negative effect, imagining my muscles are relaxing also no effect, what to use to relax?

Also, I want to mention I am sleepwalker, does that changes anything?

      Hi,

Being sleepwalker is not related to twiching sensations that happen during sleep/wild attempts
Me and probably lots of other people experience this stuff too during wilds or when sleeping
      They are called 'Sleep Spindles'.

It might be either your body relaxing tension on specific part of it
Or just random stuff that could be happening due to your brain doing some with neurons (A la Sleep Spindles).
'During sleep these spindles are seen in the brain as a burst of activity immediately following muscle twitching. Researchers think the brain, particularly in the young, is learning about what nerves control what specific muscles when asleep.'
      - Wikipedia Sleep Spindles

If your body is relaxed enough then they are probably regular sleep spindles
And if it's not then it's releasing tension n' stuff

You shouldn't bother, put attention or worry about it
This stuff can become distraction durings wilds if you will put too much focus on them
Otherwise they shouldn't disrupt your WILD Attempts.

Focus on the buzz of your ears.

This is a new technique I am working at and it is in a baby stage, but seems to work great!

Sometimes I try WILD and I my feet get really volatile, as in it is extremely difficult to keep them from twitching, and it feels like they are constantly on the brink of spasming. When this happens I just go to sleep. Usually the cause is that I am too tired or too stressed that night, just generally that the conditions are not ideal.

Your body is not relaxed. If 61 point relaxation is too hard, it sounds like it is difficult for you to keep your mind on one thing for very long--which could explain your twitching. If your body is wound tight, your mind usually is too. You say stretching has negative effects--what are they? You should keep stretching light, and not try to force your body to comply.

Try naukasana. There is a set of breathing exercises to go with it. I do this, stretch out my back and hamstrings, and I am usually ready to fall asleep (or at the least, I am very relaxed).

I think I am getting better at 61 point. I inhale and exhale and I can feel the point I am currently focusing on. But still I don't see I am relaxing, it is helping me falling asleep, but I am not more relaxed than I was before technique. I will try naukasana. I will research it a bit, since I only have general idea what it is. I am really tight with time, so I need to use these 7 days I have left for intensive LD practice as much as I can.

I kind of have the same problem, but I'm curious on your opinions on preventing it.

First off, I'm entering and exiting WILD's very quickly, at least 10 a minute.
Second, I'm doing WILD's in class, and I'm trying to stay somewhat alert so that I can still answer questions if my name is called in class.
Third, I'm getting really powerful spasms, like my arm will flop or my whole back will tense up very suddenly.

I'm wondering if anyone found a way to stay alert in waking life while still being able to maintain a dream without getting powerful spasms as a side effect?

While I am open-minded in general, I'm fairly skeptical about this in particular. If this is possible, it would be high-level dream yogi stuff. A normal person won't have much luck staying cognizant of two different worlds. Too much stimuli--not to mention, you're asleep.

Ten WILDs a minute? Are you sure you are not just experiencing vivid HI? Especially with the flopping around and what not.

Yeah, 10 WILDs in just one minute seems too much.

It sounds too me like ThreeCat stated and/or just being on the verge of WILDing but loosing it at the very first. Like, let's say that you need to hit 100% to win a price (WILD) 0-50% is relaxation, 50-90% is deep relaxation and some HH, 90-95% is heavy HH and dreams forming, 96-99% pretty much entering a dream, HH fades but also occurs and 100% is a successful WILD. You are always in the 93-99% area, which you get heavy HH sometimes, a dream forming on the high 90s but then for some reason falling back to 93-94%. Something like: 98% 99% 93% 96% 99% 94% 97% 93% 99%... and so one, on the verge but not hitting it.

This is common. Keep up the good work and you will find a difference when you hit that 100%. Happy WILDing.

I honestly don't know when to qualify it as a dream or hh, basically what I have takes up all my awareness, I can move in it, control objects, feel things and hear things.

Just stay still in that state, between planes it can be confusing. When you find yourself doing that, if you still find yourself limited, visualize somewhere you wanna go (a forest, mountain, space...) and then shortly after you will be there, fully lucid and assured you are not under HH.

I'm already creating where I want to be, like for example I'll start creating a scenario that I'm playing a sport and I'll see the field and the feeling of running, then get a spasm that wakes me up.

I didn't read the whole thread, but from what you just said, it sounds like you're trying to be too active too early. This is when a dream is still forming? At that stage you should be still and let it form more completely - trying to run or do anything active at that stage will cause a hypnic jerk that will wake you up, as you said.

Well I'm starting the dream active usually, so I guess that's the case.

Never really thought about waiting for it to form since I'm assuming I'm doing all of the forming.

I agree with DM--even if you begin the dream running, or walking, or whatever, you can still "sit back" and observe what is happening in the dream without actively engaging.

What exactly do you mean by not actively engaging?

Sometimes when I DILD at the very beginning of a dream (a dreamlet), I will find that my dream body is already doing things (like walking down a street, for instance). It just acts on its own. I can make slight, gentle changes in its behavior (such as smiling or looking in a certain direction) but anything very active (like RCing) wakes me up.

So try to just let the dreamlet do its thing while you wait for the dream to set.

I prefer it to other situations, it gives me a good balance between being awake and asleep so it's easy to enter into dreams.
