I do everything wrong. I WILD in bright daylight with no eye mask. I lie on whichever side takes my fancy, or on my back. I swallow or scratch if necessary, and I pay lots of attention to the "noise". Works for me. |

I thought a thread like this might help out those that are having a harder time trying to WILD. |

I use 2 very different ones. The first is pretty close to what Sageous' class goes over. Scratch if you itch and be sure to fall asleep. |

I had to learn on my own, so in experimenting with clearing my mind I eventually came across vibrations. When I WILD I don't use WBTB so if it is not a DEILD than I have to concentrate for some time. During the day I often do concentration meditation using an external/internal object similar to a "color kasina". I simply used this idea and extended it to focusing on the concept of "nothingness" during WILD, but in such a way as to allow my body to fall asleep instead. I suppose it is the intention that accomplishes this, but sometimes I still fail because my focus actually can keep me too alert, which is usually desirable in concentration. When the critical point is reached I can usually sense it. From there I usually try to see myself sleeping from a third person view and "will" myself out of my body. A quick rushing sound and a snap later and I am either in a dream or floating, depending on my level of awareness and/or my intentions. |

Usual sleeping pose, do deep relaxation with mantra plus visualization of desired scene [generally Sageous style], and either 1) fall asleep unconsciously, or 2) insomnia. I don't do long WBTB other than quick drink/bathroom break. WILD is not my friend yet. |
