How long do you have DJ before you become lucid?

Cause my dream recall is really inconsistent, and it's frustrating to have a blank dj for three days in a row. Especially when I wrote some length dj entries to began the week. How long did it take YOU personally before you had your first ld?

I know you are going to hate to hear this, but it really does depend on the person. Although, I do find it odd that you have inconsistent dream recall.

I can't say anything since I was a natural. All I CAN say though is be persistent. Persistence will eventually turn into success.

The ironic thing is that most people's success varies. Some people have their first LD in around 2-3 days, while others can take a few weeks or ever months.

Just try your hardest and learn the correct ways to do things, but don't try too hard. Stress is the enemy of a lucid dreamer.

      Strike a balance.

I second everything SinisterDezz said. How many hours do you sleep and do you have a consistent sleep schedule? Both of these can impact recall. Using a computer or anything with a bright screen before going to bed has also been seen to affect recall.

You're doing reality checks and awareness training along with dream journaling, right? It took me about two weeks to have my first LD but like SinisterDezz said, it's different for everybody. The amount of time it takes for you to have your first lucid dream could be shorter or longer, just keep at it and it'll happen.

By the way, I love your avatar and signature

I believe it took me 3-4 week when I very first started LDing. Since I started back to LDing it took 11 days.

Hang in there. Dream journaling really will help you to become lucid. When you have your first LD it will be amazing. When you journal try to be as detailed as possible. Be sure to review some of your dreams before you go to sleep at night. I'm sure your first LD will be coming soon.
      Total LDs (some very brief) = 2004: 4 * 2005: 18 * 2006: 16 * 2007: 2 * 2008: 0 * 2009: 0 * 2010: 1 * 2011: 12 * 2012: 3 * 2013: 1 * 2014: 6 * 2015: 1 * 2016: 0 * 2017: 18 * 2018: 3 * 2019: 0 (so far)

If DJ is the only thing that you are doing, then there is a very low chance of success, you might have an LD or two, but consistency won't be there.

I DJed back then (as is good to do at the beginning at least) but I haven't DJed in over a year (except really epic dreams and some epic LDs) and I am definitely on the consistent side. Read some tutorials around here. Different things to do, besides mindlessly writing down your dreams, that will make you remember them.

Tbh mine took like 2 months when I first started off, however at times I had a break cause I got angry that I hadn't had one yet, so if I would of tried harder and not had them breaks I think I could of got my first in about a month instead of 2, but it really does vary from person to person. Don't worry, you'll get their eventually, everyone was in the same situation as you so don't stress it.

After learning to LD and practicing it for about a month and a half, I eventually had my first lucid dream. I've had them before on accident, wondering what it was, I found this site, and started to attempt at lucid dreaming. I've found that having a dream journal is not the only way to get your dream recall up, meditation works very well, at least for me. I think that the fact that I concentrate on certain parts of my body while meditating helps dream recall, for whatever reason. I also imagine my own scenarios relative to what music I listen to sometimes before I go to bed, this helps a bit, as well. c:

Took me one month to the day I started lucid dream training to get my first lucid. But I was spending all day ever day on forums, reading LaBerge, doing Prospective Memory exercises, reality checks, reflection/intention, and of course dream journaling. Dream recall is really important for LDing, be consistent and follow the fundamentals (good diet, exercise, regular sleep schedule, enough sleep), and hold the idea that lucid dreaming is really important to you. You show your SC this by writing in your dream journal and thinking about your dreams.

I think it took me about a week and a half, but tbh I barely used my dj (and I only had the dream views one). I'm starting now to use my dj a lot (bought a real 1) so that I can start lucid dreaming again. It was in the summer so I spent all day reading books, watching videos, and reading forums. We have all been there, so don't worry about it!

For me it depends on whether you are talking about lucid dreaming or dream control. I started lucid dreaming within a week but it has been a year and I am only starting to actually control my dreams fully. But like it has already been said, it depends on the person. Seeing that dream recall isn't natural to you it will probably take a little longer but just be patient. It is DEFINITELY worth it.
