I wouldn't say so. I'm happy with my life, but I'm happier with the one I have in my LD's also. Just try and enjoy them both.

I think people can get addicted to virtually anything and can make something normally great, unhealthy. Unless you find your self laying in bed all day, never leaving in hopes of having more lucid dreams than I think its great and can help improve your life and make you happier.

No, it isn't healty to develop an addiction to LDing, but to be addicted, you would have to start forcing yourself to stay asleep and stop eating properly/other harmful stuff.

TBH, I would prefer the dream world over reality any day (Limbo, I guess you could say). The moment I wake out of a dream I immediately think "If only I were still dreaming..". I hate waking up. I'd rather be lost on my own mind. It's not at all unhealthy unless ^ what they already said.

I once read about a young man who claimed to have had some sort of head injury when he was an adolescent and as a result slept a lot longer than most people do.
He said he got to the point where his waking life — which consisted of waking up, going to the toilet, having something to eat and going back to bed — felt more like a dream than his dreams did.
He claimed that in his dreams he had a wife, a job, the perfect little world and the perfect little life.
He also claimed he had lucidity but that he kept things as normal and mundane as possible; electing to forego flying and summoning weird and wonderful creatures and what not.

While I realise this isn't exactly the same as being addicted. I couldn't help but feel pity for this guy. I imagine if you were addicted, this is what you'd be like and you'd have my pity.

Not really addicted. Maybe in the way you could get addicted to, say, video games, but that's more escapism than addiction. The thing that's great about lucid dreaming is that it usues time you're normally spending doing absolutely nothing.

I say yes. It's easy to get addicted to something that makes you happy ( drugs, alcohol, video games, masturbation, adrenaline, etc.. It's all really same in terms of addiction )

I thought about this when I first heard about lucid dreaming also, but after time, you see that the consistency of being lucid isn't too much in the beginning. But as long as you still wake up and do things, I think it's fine. You're sleeping anyways, might as well enjoy it. =D

no man. you're not escaping anything. The only place you're going is deep inside your mind to do whatever you'd like. think of it this way.. most of us have shitty lives most likely and lucid dreaming boosts our self esteem. it does for me anyway. i hope you get to feeling better yo

I agree with what most people already said above....you're not doing anything else while sleeping so have some fun with it!

I'm no expert by far, but I think a person can only get so much REM sleep, so I don't think that's even possible.

I don't think you're actually looking for an answer... That's like the second/third time you've pulled a "yeah, but" =/
Either just fishing for interesting theories, or not feeling bad about not being able to go lucid, not sure why, but it just seems like there's an alternate motive...

On the contrary... if someone wants to lucid dream, they got to have an awesome healthy life to get more and more. When someone with suicidal thoughts feels like having lucid dreams it's more likely they've found a reason for living than escapism.
