      Really don't remember dreams

      Hello,

I only remember dreams like 1 in about 3 months. I already tried some methods, but I simply don't remember them. I don't know if i don't dream or If i forget them. Maybe 7 hours sleep is not enought?

In the last year I "had" only 3 dreams or so and I even now remember everything about them.

Someone has the same or could you give me some tipps?

Well, I'm definitely not as bad as you but I'm not very happy.

      Day 1:1 fragment
      Day 2:2 bigger fragments
      Day 3:1 tiny fragment

That's me so far, I guess I will get better.

When you wake up, stay still and try and remember what you dreamt about. Think about certain keywords of stuff you might have dreamed about it, you might be able to get something every day or a few things a week.

First of all, EVERYBODY dreams every night. You just don't remember your dreams. Keep that in your mind, because that will help you remember them.
A crucial part to build Dream Recall is the Dream Journal. If you don't have one already, you should start one and keep with it. It will help you drastically.

Lying in bed for a bit after waking up and keeping a dream journal are two things I would have suggested - as would most of the users on this site I assume.

Additionally, try sleeping for a multiple of 90 minutes (i.e. 4 1/2 hours, 6 hours, 7 1/2 hours, etc.) as this means you'll wake up near the end of your REM sleep, which is when you dream. I also tend to set an alarm to wake me up after about 4 1/2 hours, where I write down any dreams I can remember, before going almost straight back to sleep and waking up another 1 1/2 or 3 hours later. This is when I also try to WILD from time to time - though it hasn't quite worked yet!

Do you keep a dream journal? Keep something by your bed, and write in it every night and every morning. Before you go to bed, write the date and something about what you want to dream about tonight. Write in it again every time you wake up. Even if you just write, "I was uncomfortably hot all night," or "I farted so loud, I woke myself up." Just write something you remember about the night.

You will start to remember your dreams as you start paying attention.

I plan on adopting a triphasic sleep schedule soon

3x90 min sleeps. That should be perfect!

another tip I give is to use the LEAST jarring alarm you can, try to put something calming on, like a classical music channel, just try to wake up gently

One more tip: NEVER use your favourite song as an alarm... you'll regret it.

If you have nothing to write in your DJ, still write in it, if you want it to improve then you need to attempt to write down your dreams every day.

      Hello, n00b, welcome
First of all, how consistent is your sleep schedule? Not only is your sleep schedule important, but the amount of sleep you get on a regular basis. As everyone has stated, start a dream journal. I would recommend when you wake up (if you are woken by your alarm) lay then for 5-10 seconds, just emptying your mind. Try not to think what lies ahead of you in the day. You're aiming to get back into that 'almost fall back to sleep' mindset without falling asleep. It's kinda a sweet spot for recalling your dream. Normally, lots of dream fragments will come back to you, not necessarily in chronological order.
When you first start out, i'd also recommend writing down absolutely everything you remember. Even the lighting, emotion, what kind of room it was, etc. This is just to get your dream recall up to a level you find suitable.
After that, just roll over and turn off the alarm. Think about the fragments you just recalled and try to think about what happened 'before this' or 'before that'. You can work up whole dreams from little fragments

      Good luck

Any questions about lucid dreaming? Drop me a PM here!

Yeah, this. Close your eyes and lay there for a bit, and think about it. Even if you can't remember a thing, just sitting there helps sometimes. I could only remember about 3 dreams a year before I improved my recall also. Now it's around a dream or two a night.

I find it useful to write down 'Didn't Remember Anything' or some equivalent when I have disappointing recall. Perhaps it highlights that I'm disappointed. If I'm extra disappointed I sometimes include a small picture of a sad face.
