      Question Lucid Dreaming at will

Hi Lucid dreamers, i was wondering what method my sister uses when she lucid dreams, she lays on her back then thinks of things she does after about 1 minute she will be sleeping (i can see her eyes moving as if she was looking around) it will only last a minute she mostly has nightmares doing this, such as seeing a tall black man sitting at the end of the room.

seems like i cant do it though

It sounds like a WILD, but I've never heard of anyone doing it that quickly before. Have you asked her about it yet?

I got a few spiritual friends how say they astral project/ OBE/ lucid dream in just a minute by visualizing a scene and even though it's not as vivid as a REM dream at first, they can increase the stimuli they get and make the experience just as vivid. The difference between this and dreaming though is that they choose when they want in and when they want out. I am jealous...

But ask your sister if she does anything similar, I am very currious

Note that i'm not assuming there's something wrong with your sister

Does your sister have narcolepsy? That is the only known way to instantly enter REM-dreams without preparation. It could also be a case of medical REM-atonia, although it itself won't explain the induction speed.

I believe that it's a case of strong daydreaming/visualisation-skills, which result in vivid NREM-dreams.

      My 2 cents, Tucane

Forgot to say that DEILD produces superfast lucids, but it has to be done instantly upon waking up... and that was the third cent.

Tucane probably has it right. She may not even truely reach an unconcious sleep. nREM stage 1 is only a partial sleep, but can have vivid nREM dream imagery for some people. It is up to the individual if they look at this as lucid dreaming. I can hit nREM lucids (stage 1), so fast in a WILD attempt that I could claim to get lucid every time, but I don't consider it a true LD unless it progresses into stage 2 nREM where you are truely sleeping and mostly unaware of your body. Stage 1 nREM lucids are little more than vivid day dreams, but that is still cool, I just choose to not count them for myself.

So she does visualizations? If so, 1 minute is very impressive. Or does she fall asleep and enter REM sleep quickly and then recognize that she is in a dream?

Falls asleep in one minute, sees black dudes in her room and you can see her eyes moving while she's asleep?
      Seems legit.

My sister has narcolepsy and cataplexy, narcoleptics tend to reach REM stage much quicker than those who don't have it. She is too afraid to try lucid draeming, because she thinks it may provoke her cataplexy (which is a dream like state that causes muscle paralysis and is very scary for those who it happens to.)
She knows when it's happening, but she can't really control it. Hope that sheds some light on this thread.

      Happy Dreaming my friend.
