      How do YOU get lucid?

      Title says it all really.

Personally, I've naturally had DILD's since I was 5. I used to wake myself up from nightmares. Now, my most common way of becoming lucid is by spontaneously realising in a dream that I am dreaming, and doing the nose RC to confirm.

I also set an alarm for 4am because I find if I do this, I recall 3-7 dreams that night and I am more likely to become lucid.
I usually attempt to use mantras, written or spoken in my head.
The first time I ever tried FILD, it worked for me straight away and I had an amazing lucid dream, but it has never worked for me since! I just can't get back to sleep while trying it.

16 days ago I started keeping a dream journal and since then my recall has improved and I've noticed that many of my dreams are actually taking place in the same place- a dark, dystopian version of my local city is the most common one.

Just decided to start this thread to see what techniques people find the most succesful

When I started, nearly 10 years ago, I could only DILD. I had plenty of DILDs while I was keeping an active motivation surrounding it.

After I lost my spark, stopped practicing RCs and such, I ended up looking towards the WILD side of things.
I found traditional WILD impossible, then I discovered just how easy a DEILD was (to me, at the time).
Then I ended up having traditional WILDs just because I would wake up, sit up, then realize I coulda DEILDed, but immediately laying back down to attempt WILD, and boom, it was easy.

But I've not been lucid in a while tho. I chalk it up to weed smoking.

I have been doing RCs all day every hour or so and MILD before I go to sleep.I sometimes meditate before bed when I remember. It has been very mildly sucsessful, only a lucid a week.

I only have d.i.l.d's and have 1 or 2 lucid dreams a month.Still trying to find my way to enduce lucid dreams more frequently.Iv been meditating daily for a year now and keep a journal on my phone and I'm starting to look into mantras before sleep for more success.Stephen leberge used to stare at his hands for 5 mins a night and repeat 'I will see my hands in a dream and realise I'm dreaming. After 3 nights of doing this his hands popped up on his dream....so yeah I'm gonna try it and fingers crossed =D

I get lucid by the awareness of my bodys weight aka my gravity RC. It took me a while to learn it, but now I get lucid on almost all my dreams from it. So it was well worth it

This is how I have lucid dreams. All my lucid dreams are DILDs. I think about lucid dreaming through out the day and when I go to bed. I've been having lucid dreams almost every day now.

fifty-fifty DILD and WILD. But it's very much about intention. I rarely LD without thinking about it before I fall asleep. Frequency varies for me. Some periods at least one per night... some times a ferw a week.. some times nothing for weeks. Just depends on how much I want to LD.

My dreams are notoriously absurd and I have a lot of recurring dream signs so DILD is easy.

My WILD isn't really a technique. I just go to sleep the same way as always but with the intention of having an LD however I can get one and then sometimes that turns into a WILD because I notice that buzzy wobbly swirly feeling when the transition into sleep is beginning and I know how to stay aware through it. In other words I skip all the shitty boring, uncomfortable parts of WILD, I just do the transition, enter the dream, let it stabilize do some brain activation stuff like memory work and mindfullness and all that and then I go do dream stuff. Which usually means walking around looking at stuff hahaha. I'm not the most interesting dreamer. I can do all sorts of dream control but I tend to just walk around.

I set alarms in the night that turn off automatically. Gives me just enough time to set the intention before my mind wanders again.

Edit: Oh and all day awareness and meditation definitely makes me more likely to LD. zombie day zombie night.

I do two things. I use the a variant of the MILD method and sometimes I will fall asleep with the intention of having a lucid dream on my mind. I will repeat something about how in my dreams I will realize that I am dreaming. I find this to work ok for me. It depends on how badly I want to have a lucid dream. If I have a strong intent then my chances of having a lucid dream increase. As for the getting lucid part I sometimes find myself battling for control of the subconscious. Other times I will just figure oh hey this is a lucid dream. I used to keep a dream journal thinking that alone would make me lucid dream but I go so sick of writing down my dreams that I stopped. Now I only write down my lucid dreams.

That sounds really interesting, Hukif. How did you learn to do that?
Is it about bringing waking awareness to your body weight and how it feels so that it will carry over into your dreams? Also, how long did it take you to learn it? How often were you experiencing LDs beforehand?

Oh gosh that was an old post of mine! Yes, it is body weight awareness, a type of self awareness that will carry over to dreams. It took me 3 months after learning about the tech to see it carry over to dreams for the first time

As a beginner I have pretty much made my life into a "lucidity stew", surrounding myself with lucidity information throughout the day. I am able to do this because my waking job keeps me in front of a computer all day with a great deal of time to research.

So....even as I stumble from technique to technique while trying to figure out how to take advantage of my natural sleep cycle, I'm already experiencing some degree of lucidity almost every night.

I reckon I've had around 15-20 lucid dreams so far which I remember, in the past three years. I gave up on it for a while but am now getting back into it and dream journaling. Most times it's happened to me, has been just me realizing in the middle of a dream "hold on, this isn't real life..."

I've never done a successful FILD except for one time, in which I dreamed I was doing an FILD. I became lucid, first thing I did was summon Kate Upton because I was a 14 year old boy when it happened. I woke up shortly after, though, I didn't get to do much in the dream unfortunately
