1. Just one of the ways to DEILD

by , 02-18-2012 at 06:27 PM (Choi's Journey of the Conscious Mind)
I have decided to continue sharing my dreams here. I have learned new things and learned better ways to improve my chance of lucidity and maybe the real secret of WILD, ok maybe not, but it feels like no one ever talks about it.

I will be sharing my dreams, ideas and progress here.

I will now share the best guides about lucid dreaming there is!

In two years of pracctise I have finally learned the mindset of lucid dreaming - learn from unsuccessful attempts and don't get discouraged by them. I learned this from:

Lucidipedia - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IrV4vEDPkB0 - The Mindset of the lucid dreaming pracctise and much more.

Then I learned why lucid dreaming techniques works and what happens in the brain while doing them.
So by knowing that, it's easier to have the confidence on succeeding.
(It might be hard to follow exactly what he sais, but rewind and listen again, this is gold!)

DreamWarrior - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RFQUDlIAUM - The Science of lucid dreams.

And then I discovered the perfect guide of how to DEILD. Now I have learned to easily have atleast 1 lucid dreams per week (Fairly often) with the use of indirect techniques, which is techniques performed upon awakening to see if you are close the dream or the phase as the author calls it. Check out the free ebook at www.obe4u.com

Michael Raduga - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FysT50Ap0XU&feature=related - The best lucid dreaming method according to me.

Now with these three combined I am unstoppable. :)

And last but not least, the secret of how to WILD.

If you watched DreamWarriors videos you understand that the best technique to get aware of a dream is the WBTB so you get a REM-REBOUND. Then you can make a WILD attempt.

But the thing is that many people think that the goal is to attain "sleep paralysis" in order to have a lucid dream.
But the goal is to D R E A M. To be able to dream we have to fall asleep, otherwise it would be called hallucination...
And today I read in the SOBT and watched a video on wilding from lucidipedia, which changed my view on wilding.
Instead of focusing on keeping the awareness on one single thing for an eternity, which probably wont make you dream because it's not in even in the dream nature to be focused and stable, your goal should be to fall asleep for a short second, minute, hour and THEN regain awareness and consciousness again.

So how do we do that?
Actually I don't know... :P But what I do know is that this have happend to me many times before, that I focus on WILDing and suddenly I just doze off, but somehow I regain awareness again. But when this happend I treated the attempt as a failure and I wasn't aware of that this is when I should have looked for non-physical signs with indirect techniques.
So it's basically feels like a DEILD, but it actually isn't, it is not a DREAM EXIT or DREAM CHAIN, because what we are actually doing is waking up in the dream and using indirect techniques to see if we are non-physical (dreaming) then we just get out of our dreambed.
And that sounds good right? Instead of focusing on staying still for hours, you sleep through the attempt and start at the end.

So the secret of WILD is to aim for lapses of consciousness, because these are opportunities to DEILD more effectively.
I will tell you about all of my coming attempts from now on.

Good luck to you and I will see you tomorrow :)

Hypnagogic

As usual I remembered a ton of dreams (around 7-8 dream scenarios). But I will only write down the lucid moment to save time.

..I was thrown up on a roof and it looked too unreal.I realised that it was a dream it looked like it didn't had an end and it looked like those kind of roofs with a top like black sandpaper. Sorry that's the best explaination I can give you. Anyway I started to run and jump really high, I thought to myself "This is how the astronauts felt when they jumped on the moon, but this is how a oneironaut feels when he jump in a dream :D".
Becaue of the emptiness I thought that this was exactly like Garry's Mod, but for real! So now I tried to summon a person, my friend Louise, for some reason. But I couldn't. So I imagined a rock and it appeared, and I went around the corner of that rock preparing to meet her. But she didn't appear... I was a little frustrated and eventually I forgot that I was dreaming and lost my lucidity.
I had a long vivid dream about Harry Potter when that ended I were in my school and had a long boring lesson, until I woke up for real.

3. Natural Awareness, Thanks to Ev!

Thoughts
Hypnagogic

I went to bed at a specific time and set my alarm at a specific time, so I sync my biologicalclock with the sun, but I adjusted it a little so it would fit my morning routine, so with one sleep cycle (90 minutes). The way I know this is because of the Bio2 Real Time, Ev's app.

I actually remember many dreams, but they are not interesting for you and it's not worth to write all them down, so I will start at the lucid. But I can say that all the dreams were very vivid and most of them felt like I experienced them.

Anyhow I had just finished my dream of walking up the stairs to the Eifeltower and it led to the Great Wall for some reason. But the dream changed and I was standing in my school, with my classmates.
I didn't hear them talk, but I heard my friend just laugh to nothing "He he... haha hehe" I noticed that something was strange. I went to the toilet and started to pee. When I felt that I was done, the urge came back, so I couldn't stop pee. I realised that this was a dream and I knew that I can pee in dreams without doing it for real, so I wasn't worried. I went outside, but I was standing there naked. For some reason my clothes had disapeared.
I was feeling a little embarrassed, but I knew that it was a dream and it was only my classes' dreamcharacters looking at me, but it was a little uncomfortable, so I imagined myself some new clothes.
I saw my friend Felix and asked him for fun "What stabilisation technique do you want me to use?" He said "Spinning" I started to spin slowly, so I could still see the surroundings. When I stopped Amanada was standing infront of me.
I looked her in the eyes and said "Hello!" Then I throw myself up in the air and landed on my back, and it actually hurted a little. Then I rubbed my hands. I don't believe in dream sharing or that stuff, but in this dream I started to consider that Amanda might be herself in my dream, so I told her to count my fingers on one hand. She said "haha why? but ok 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 ... 15!". She looked surprised at me and I said "This is a dream! You are dreaming!"
Shortly after this I started dreaming normally again, so I didn't experienced something special.
Although in the non lucid dream after this, I jumped out from a window and flew a broom and I also used the cruciatus curse on a mean guy.

I woke up alert and refreshed! I hope that this wasn't a placebo or something, because then Ev might have found the best lucid aid to lucid dreaming! And also I am ranked as a Dream Character on Banhurts Dream Journal program now :D
4. Up up and away!

Dream
Thoughts
Hypnagogic

Normally I use a lot of alarms to together form a timer ramp. But this time I only used one with 15 seconds of autosnooze and then I used a normal snooe function to make it go on repeat. And this morning I had a lucid dream.

I woke up 05.00 to the alarm and just fell asleep again, I started dreaming something, but 2 minutes later I woke up to the a larm again so I went up very dizzy and tired. I turned off the alarm and went back to bed. So this was like a double alarm.

I were in my school and I were in my English class, I saw that my teacher was a woman and normally it is a man. I was very aware in this dream and aware enough to realise that something was wrong.I looked around and I realised that it was something unusual about this and I realised that I was dreaming. It was very hard to believe because it was so vivid, not as vivid as reality, but almost.
Every stopped, just like in the Inception movie in the bar when Fischer realise that he was dreaming, every person in the room looked at me. I made eyecontact with one good looking girl. I got out of my chair and I saw that I was naked! It was a little embarrassing, but I knew that this was a dream so I didn't had anything to become embarrassed of, so I just laughed and went on with it. When I did that I felt that I now had clothes.
Problem solved. The hot girl leaned in and kissed me, I was amazed of how it felt. She smiled and went away. I am still lucid! I thought. And I imagined a girl that I used to be in love with for a couple of years ago and I asked her "Why didn't you like me?" she just laughed and said "It doesn't matter, I do now".
She gave me her cellphone which I for some reason dropped so it broke. I thought damn it, wait I am in a dream I can fix it! I imagined a new phone in my hand, and it just appeard!

I strpped down naked again, just to feel that I am totally free in this dream. I went up the stairs in my school and up to the top floor. I wanted to jump our from the window and try to fly. I went into another class on the topfloor and said "Open the window!". "Sure naked man" someone laughed. I saw my Biology teacher there and then I opened the windows (which looked weird). Then I took pace and jumped out. I couldn't control the fall, but I eventually managed to fly from the speed of the fall. So now i was flying! With the best control ever!!
I did swimming motions to levitate up to the window again and the people in there couldn't believe their dreamy eyes. I nicked my head down and up fast, like a bull does when it gores. And now I could control the direction of and the speed of the flying. Yes I could fly, but I failed the landing and I got really dizzy. And weirdly enough I lost my lucidity here.

That shouldn't matter, because a dream is just a thought right? But I dreamt that I were some kind of superhero, like the green lantern or something. So I were in some futuistic city and fighted criminals. This dream ended with me being in a mall and some terrorists tried to rob a bank. I tried to stop them, but they threw a grenade at me. I grabbed it and managed to stop it from exploading with just my hand. But I threw it back on them and it exploded. Then I thought this was a v-serie or something and I was not as aware when dreaming this. Instead I was watching it.

Then I woke up and the time was now 06.14! Talk about a long dream! The longest lucid and together with the non-lucid, longest dream ever.

5. Don't be afraid of the dark!

Last day it was horror movie night at my school, so I watched The grudge and Insidious.
I was a little afraid that I would dream nightmares, but I haven't had nightmares for years so I was actually hoping to have one so I could become lucid. But no I didn't had any. This night I set an alarm to wake me up and force me to get out of bed.

I dreamt something about me being on a really high skateboard ramp and it was really vivid, but then my WBTB alarm woke me up, so I realised that I had been dreaming.

I fell asleep again and I dreamt that I took Iphone photos on my friends from different angles and I met some friends that I appearntly knew.

Then I was in my school and had a blanket over me that I could look through and I sang something. Andriano my friend told me that he hadn't got his essay back and I said that I forgot to write his name on the essay we wrote together so I had got all the credit. I wrote his name on the paper too and then told what had happend to our teacher.

Then I woke up. I think that the pillow speaker only can wake me up if I sleep light.
But sometimes I don't so I think I am going to use the iphones speaker and hopefully I don't disturb anyone else.

I don't wake up to the timer anymore, only sometimes but I am not aware enough.
I think I need to WBTB for 5 minutes and then go to sleep instead of just snoozing like I have done before.

And well I didn't remember a single dream this night! I did remember on dream in the middle of the night, but as usual I convinced myself that I would remember it in the morning, because it was so clear. But no...

7. Just do a Reality Check!

Dream
Thoughts
Hypnagogic

I didn't use the timer method this night, because I didn't slept the amount of hours that is usually needed for me to hit the REM. But I got a false awakening instead, on which I could have realised that I was dreaming on, but I didn't reality checked so..

I woke up and thought that even though I didn't use the timer I can still use this as a oppurtunity to DEILD, because I was aware of the awakening. So I closed my eyes and tried to DEILD. I expected nothing, because usually the dreamy feeling come by itself. And well nothing happend and I gave up. I got out of bed and ..

I woke up in my bed, the real bed. And I realsied that if I just had reality checked it could have become a lucid dream... Anyway I fell asleep and dreamed again.

I were in town and saw my friend driving a car, and this friend doesn't even have a driver's license, so this was weird. I went to my school and met my friends, I felt as something was wrong but I never realised anything.

To morrow I will use the timer. But I am also gonig to do a nap attempt now. I have never done that before so I will see how it goes.

Thoughts
Hypnagogic

I did remember 4 dreams when I woke up this morning, usually I will remember them all they to when I write them down here and I usually also not them. But I didn't note them and I didn't remember them today...
I woke up the timer though, but when I did my DEILD attempt nothing happend, so I was probably not in REM.

I remember that I dreamt that I was in my old school. And I talked to some girl, but then I don't remember anything more.

I still think that this timer makes it easier for me to DEILD so I will keep using it.
9. Close the Eyes To See With The Third!

Lucid
Dream
Thoughts
Hypnagogic

This morning I actually got a lucid moment, so I would count that as a success and now I also know how I do it. So I learned something new today :) And this timer setup was with no doubt the best.

I dreamt that I was a smuf character and Gargamel was chasing me. I were on a graveyard and his cat was looking for me. I was hiding with the other smurfs in a plant, but Gargamal had hypnotised humans to look for us. So we were really scared. One of the smurfs started to run and he revealed where we was. So we had to run too.
I was chased by the cat and I were jumping longjump on the gravestones.

I woke up to the first alarm, swtiched position and fell asleep.

I was in a car and we were running from something (not as a smurf this time). And I challenged to help a guy drive the car, who didn't had a driverslicense, so I had to use the double commando on the right side in the right seat. He wasn't a bad driver so I barely needed to help him, but it was a scary dream, because he drove fast!

I woke up again to the timer and now I felt so tired that I just closed my eyes and relaxed.
I started to see my thoughts vividly and didn't even had to concentrate to make them appear. It was so vivid, I saw a guy and I heard him say "We need to run!"
It was now a dream, and even though I didn't realised that I said "What! Not a chase again like my other 2 dreams..." "Common!" he yelled. Then I were doing le parkour through a city, it looked like Russia or something like that.
I stopped and realised that my thoughts were now so vivid that it must be a dream "Because I were in my bed before" I thought. I started to think on what I wanted to dream.
And in a blink the dream changed.

I was now standing in Gryffindoors door room, but it didn't looked anything like it, although I was convinced that it looked like that while in the dream. Then I went down to the great hall, by involuntary teleporting down there. I saw the sky in the sealing, but I got to foccused in the dream or something, because I lost my lucidity.I saw a skatingramp and Bam Magera, he said that it was his birthday and the whole school singed "Happy Birthday" to him. For some reason there was a stage that I got up on, and I started to play guitar songs like Green Day - TIme of your life, Oasis - Wonderwall. and Bam got a birthday present, a bulletproof vest...

I know now that all I have to do to get a lucid dream with the timer method, is to close my eyes and be aware of what I see. So I have to learn to get more aware on the awakenings.
It's like I am getting so tired that it's almost impossible to stay awake and I start to dream immediatelly. I will see if this work tomorrow as well, even if it was a short lucid dream. I am going to try the looking at the hands stabilisation technique, because that's a way to just stand still and not get involved with the dream again.

10. Perfect Timer Setup?!

Hypnagogic

This morning I found the perfect timer setup, maybe if I shorten the length of the alarm it will work even better, but I will stick with this setting for now, because this morning I got a lucid dream! So I will try the same setup tomorrow and see if it works.

I woke up from my alarm, I actually moved a little because I got chocked by the alarm. I got aware of my awakening and closed my eyes. I think I lost consciousnes for a brief moment, but I regained it in a thought!
I saw my old school and some friends I haven't met for a long time. I knew that this was just me thinking, but the thought was controling itself, like a dream. But it wasn't vivid, so I thought that if I just continue with focusing on the environment I kind of saw, it will hopefully transition to a dream if I am in REM.

Suddenly I realise that the environment is real and I can really feel the wind and see the people I were talking to. I am now perfectly aware of that I am dreaming, I remember that I talked to one of the girls and I was still lucid! I thought "Ok I know this is a dream, now i want to fly, because this feels so real it might be hard, but I try." I took pace and ran and I could fly! Then... A girl teasing me sexually and I know that if I have sex I will lose my lucidity or at least it will be less vivid. I tried to resist, but I couldn't, so I had sex. But I actually didn't lost awareness. But the dream ended shortly after this, because.
I woke up from the next alarm on the timer, this lucid dream was exactly 3 minutes and a motivating lucid dream, because now I know the perfect timer setup. I will see tomorrow!

I experienced many different scenarios this night in my dreams. And when I woke up on my WBTS I remembered them perfectly in my head, so I thought that I didn't had to note them.. WRONG
When I woke up in the morning I only remembered a small fragment of a dream.
Anyhow I used the timer method with 3 minutes intervals instead and now it was a good setup, and I woke up and lay still, but this time I wasn't in REM so nothing happend... But now I know that I have a good setup at least.
So tomorrow I will go to bed earlier (because I went to bed kind of late) so I can DEILD and dream vividly and then when I wake up I will NOTE my dreams!

Hypnagogic

This time I did a 4 minute timer interval and I remember that I got a moment of lucidity and as my dreams allways are with this method, they were as vivid as real experiences. But 4 minute intervals was too long I almost woke up before them and I also ended up tired in the morning, and it's not supposed to be like that.
So the next morning I will try a 3 minute interval.

I were in a game looked like a RPG game. I had a mount, a wolf. I told my friends who were also inside that game, that I will go to the destination and mark my way on the way there. So I took of on my wolf and marked the way with yellow stars that were connected with a light in some way.
On the way I met a lot of creatures that were trying to kill me, but i had abilities like, stomping my foot in the ground to start a small earthquake, so they all died.
When I arrived I saw a big tv screen with boxes that looked like a memory space to save the game in.
A little bit further away I saw a woman holding a sword, it looked like she was waiting for us, but she was completely still.
I save my progress in two boxes and then saw a button on the screen that could teleport one of my friends to this destination. Great then I don't have to wait for my friends to get here, I thought. I communicated with all of my friends in some way, but then I saw a message that said "You need to write in the correct CD-Key to be able use this function".
So I waited for my friends to arrive.
Then we approached this woman, I said "I handle here, this will be fun". She had a sword that looked like just a metal stick on a handle. When she swung her sword against me I just grabbed it with my hand, but then she pulled the blade with a force, so I cut my palm.. I thought that this was silly because if I just had have gloves this would be a piece of cake.
I got instructions from someone of how to use a sword, then I woke up.

Someday I will return and fight this woman!

Even though I drank last night and went to bed pretty late, I still did an EILD attempt.
This time I didn't woke up from the message, but I didn't hear it either, so this was probably not a technique for me.
I am going to start using the timer method that I used before and I am going to experiment with this until I foudn the perfect setup again. This DEILD-Alarm kind of way of inducing lucid dreams, is the best way for me to pracctise, because every awakening is an attempt. When I fall asleep I have the chance to get aware and I am more aware, because of these awakenings. But on every awakening I am in the perfect relaxed state, what people around here call sleep paralysis, but I would just call it mind awake body asleep, but I am not dreaming yet. That's the tricky part.
But now I have lots of oppurtunities to pracctise just that.

It will be tough in the beggining, but the more I pracctise this the easier it gets.

Anyway this night I did one more attempt of meditation, and I have found that I do fall asleep, but I wake back up so it's a good way of staying aware, although it's very frustrating and uncomfortable, so I am not going to do it anymore.

I had a dream about me an my family being threaten by a man with a gun. We managed to escape and we took my fathers car, but one of the sidedoors got broken. Then I don't remember anything more.

I was in a mall with my friend Tom. We went into a videostore, which also had videogames in it. So I just looked around, but then I saw two girls. Louise and Robyn, my old classmates. We started to talk and they laughed to everything, so it was weird, but I didn't realised that it was a dream. Then we went out of that store to grab some coffe.
A girl named Hanna described how good coffe should taste.

Then I had a dream about No Ordinary Family (I saw the last episode right before I went to bed).

The timer method was something that I learned from Lucidology, but when I talked about lucid dreaming with my teacher, she said that she had have a lucid dream. I asked how did you get it? Oh I have it very often, by snoozing with my alarm clock. I said what do you do in your lucid dream? "I control what I want to dream" she said, "But don't you know that you can control that world just like you control this one?!" She was quiet for a second and then she said "Oh I have never thought about that.. I have allways thought that it's just a dream.".

I will see how it goes, but this is the way of pracctise that I have worked the best for me, so I don't doubt that I will have great result.

Btw new rank on the Dream Journal software: Lucid Dreamer!!! Wohoo.

14. Stop Thinking about Her...

I went to bed and did the sleep deprivation experiment and I managed to do it for a little longer, but I gave up as usual, but this time I experienced new things.
I started to think random thoughts and tried to do like a buddhist and just observe them, but instead I focused on them, and the black space infront of me started to create vague images, I lost my awareness in this stage, but i was still awake in some weird way or maybe I was dreaming and was just aware of the non-rem dreams, I don't know. I looked at the clock and I had been laying there for 1 hour! The next day was going to be my 18:th birthday, so I was pretty excited about that and i went to sleep.

I had a very longer never ending dream about me being in my school. I was in love with a girl and she was also interested in me. Normally I am very nervous around her, so I usually doesn't talk to her...
But in this dream it wasn't me it was my subconscious saying everything it wanted and suddenly she was interested in me. It felt unreal, but I never become lucid. I was holding her hand and we were talking about a lot of stuff.
My alarmclock woke me up, I tried to fall back to sleep. I did fall asleep, but my EILD alarm was to loud this time instead of too low, so I woke up..
When the EILD alarms stopped I was back in that school and I realised that the girl wasn't interested in my anymore. I asked my friend Andriano what had happend? But he just said "She's in love with someone else".
I was heartbroken... I then walked to her to talk to her, but I noticed that I was walking in a really weird way, I asked "Oh so this is one of the reason?!" she said "yeah, but.." but I walked away.

I woke up to my parents singing and forgot all about this sad dream :( :D Anyway I have done some progress with my meditation and method of staying conscious so I hope that I some day don't have to say that I am gonig to sleep, instead I am going to say I am going to Nirvana! Which I believe is a state of dreaming.
I'll be back =)

15. Too Blind to See With The Eyes but Not The Mind.

This night I used a rope instead of my elbow, to cover my eyes. If you want to try this, just use something to cover your eyes that gives a slight pressure on the eyes, not much, but just to make you unable to open they eyes. A sleeping mask just cover the eyes, but I can still open the eyes. So I lay in my bed on my back and started daydreaming and think about my day, then I got to the random thought stage again. I remember that my body started working against me and giving me unfomrotable sensations of giving up, and as usual I couldn't resist them. So in a reflex I got out of bed and throw the uncovered my eyes.

This was a good attempt, because I didn't fell asleep unconsciously and I could still focus on my thoughts, so all I need now is just a little patience while doing this and I might experience some non-physical sensations.

I dreamt about a girl named Olivia. In this dream we were a couple and we took happy pictures of us on her macbook.
I remembered that I was bothered with my hairstyle, so I had to fix it over and over again. I also remember that we had a videoconversation with my classmates Martin and David.

Then I was on a bus, don't remember what happend next though.

I were on a theater with my class, we complained over the seats, because we could only hear the actors not see them.. But then they changed scene and we were in a perfect seat and all the other had to change seats instead. Weird dream as usual so it's not even explainable.

I didn't woke up from my WBTB alarm.. and the EILD alarms wasn't loud enough for me to hear, for some strange reason. So the next night I will make my WILD attempt before bed and then hopefully I will wake up to the WBTB.
