    Non-Lucid Semi-Lucid | Lucid Daydream Lucid

I wasn't originally planning to write anything here, but I wanna brag about my name
    1. First and foremost, "Meiseki" (明晰) means "lucid" in Japanese.
    2. But written as 冥関, it can mean sooo much more (if you stretch it). "Invisible barrier," "divine gate," "underworld," "link between life and death," "secret connection," et cetera. This spelling is my favorite.
    3. Found another one, 迷関! Put it into Google Translate/DeepL and it means "labyrinth," "stalemate," and "stumbling block."

MeiSEKAI is a pun on that, since "sekai" (世界) means world. It's also a nice parallel to the realms in ProSeka, a game I like. But that's not all:
    1. Written as 冥世界, it really does mean underworld/netherworld, though the "世" is left out.
    2. And as 名世界, it can mean "famous world" or "great world."

    Kanji is pretty cool, huh?

    1. WILD Transition and Teleportation!

      by , 05-27-2023 at 02:00 AM (MeiSEKAI)
I was complaining yesterday, but today I rejoice, for I had an EPIC lucid dream! I reached the 30-minute mark of this podcast, right in the middle of their teleportation discussion. Slept at 11:30.

      Dream #1 (Fragment, Non-Lucid):
I wanted to refresh myself on the major and minor chords of piano for a summer program I'm enrolled in. I searched it up and found a forum similar to Dreamviews. Someone had posted a YouTube video explaining the chords, and other people were sharing their own specialties below.

      ———

The way I woke up was very interesting. I was mostly unconscious, in a half-dream state, when I thought, No wait, I need to wake up! and my eyes flew open. Not sure if I checked the time before or after writing down this fragment, but it was 4:58. I lay back down and after 5-10 minutes of getting comfortable, I started a WILD transition.

Now, I am not sure when it went from lucid daydreaming to actually being in the dream. Luckily I use the same green for both LDDing and semi-lucids, so it works out. But up until the blue, I really thought I was just daydreaming! (I now believe I was fully dreaming the majority of the time.)

      ———

      Dream #2 (Lucid Daydream/Semi-Lucid; Lucid):
      This is a dream.

That is the mantra I repeated each time I caught myself daydreaming. The first concrete scene I remember is someone explaining how every time Kagome from Inuyasha returns to the modern era, the feudal era ends! Rather than them existing simultaneously, she travels through time to the future, where everyone from the feudal era is long dead. As proof, they mentioned the episode where a Shikon Jewel shard was embedded in a tree in the modern era. The jewel only shattered into shards after Kagome's first visit, so clearly what happens there is the direct past of the modern era.

The scenery came into focus. Kagome was standing in the yard of her shrine-house, and a boy was explaining the above to her. He proposed that there might even be evidence of her from that time in this world. She quickly shot that idea down, but then he brought out a life-sized cardboard cutout of herself (apparently from the Feudal Era) and propped it in front of her.

Kagome's jaw dropped to the floor in shock, and she circled around the cutout, holding its hands and straightening up so she would be taller than it. Then they forgot about it and went to a restaurant.

I sat with them in a booth, thinking about telling someone how I distinguish between lucid daydreams and actual dreams. In a lucid daydream, I'm still aware of my WL body and can't see or feel anything clearly, but the plot is as random and elaborate as a proper dream... [Kind of ironic now that I can't tell.]

Kagome was telling the boy that gakuran uniforms were required for everyone in her old middle school. (She was a high schooler in this dream, wearing her usual seifuku.) I had never heard of that before, and the guy was confused as well. "Required?" he asked.

"Yeah," she confirmed, then stood up and left, presumably to get food.

"Guess she likes wearing a skirt now, though," he said to me.

"Yeah, well, it makes sense." I spoke with the affectionate tone one uses when they know a friend well. "I can just hear her voice in my head: 'I don't want to wear pants! A sailor uniform is way cuter!'"

He asked what I would choose, and I replied, "Gakuran, obviously."

"Huh," he said. I wasn't sure what to make of that, but then the "daydream" ended and moved on to the next.

My brother Z, best friend S, and I were in a hotel room S had booked for us. I didn't question it because I was still repeating the "this is a dream" mantra in my head. It was a nice, expensive-looking room. A bunk bed was pressed against the wall, and although S and a bunch of bags were on the top bunk, it was apparently mine. Z got the bottom bunk (which was concealed by an intricately designed blanket-curtain), and S got the regular bed next to us.

Eventually my brother and S left and I was alone in the room. I'm not sure about the order of events after this, but I'll try to arrange them in a way that makes sense.

I went to the bathroom and did my business, for some reason deciding to throw my dirty toilet paper in the trash can. [IWL I find that disgusting.] For a moment I got confused over whether it was really a trash can, since there was soap(?) in it as well. But then I saw a pile of TP and pushed it aside to dispose of mine, revolted that I had to touch it. I hurried to the sink, wondering why they had to make it so confusing.

Still, this place is so nice, I thought as I washed my hands. The faucet handles were the indented, circular type, and underneath the clear surface of the left knob was a casual pink color. Everything was so homey and comfortable, from the lighting to the furniture. There was even a couch in there! I wondered how S could possibly afford this, then reminded myself it was a dream.

Suddenly Shippo, Miroku, and Inuyasha appeared. Shippo was talking about how weird it was when Inuyasha flirted with him (he was possessed by a flea in that episode), but the reason he found it weird was either because he was a fox or a boy. Both Miroku and I were thinking, It's weirder because you're a child...

I told them it was okay because Inuyasha was brainwashed by a flea at the time and wasn't actually addressing Shippo. Some other stuff happened that I don't remember clearly; I think I touched Inuyasha's face and clothes to immerse myself/stabilize.

I somehow ended up in a place that looked like my living room but was still part of the hotel. There was a really muscular guy sitting in my chair. When he leaned forward I sat down behind him, though I wasn't sure why. He got offended and grabbed me, body-slamming me on the couch. I struggled to escape, but it was hopeless.

Luckily he transformed into a giant cob of corn. The weight on my chest reminded me of how some people describe sleep paralysis, and since I still thought I was daydreaming, I assumed the feeling originated from my physical body. I couldn't figure out why though, as I have been sleeping on my back for years and long gotten used to it. Nonetheless I tried to ignore it; I didn't want to give up the WILD.

I managed to roll the corn off of me and fell to my knees on the floor. Everything had become dark and unclear, so I stared at the coffee table, the couch, and a tissue box to re-stabilize. I wanted to hurry and transition into a full-fledged lucid dream, so I held the tissue box in my hands and tried to make it three-dimensional. It only worked a little.

Next thing I remember is sitting in the hotel lobby, clarity no longer an issue. There was a TV fixtured to the wall, displaying previews of Pinocchio-P songs. One of them was a creepy vampire-person bearing their fangs, and I worried it would seep into my dreams and give me my first nightmare in years. I turned away from the screen.

Then I had a false awakening in my bed, the same painful pressure from before weighing on my chest. Actually, it was worse this time—I could hardly breathe.

I struggled to sit up, telling myself without much hope, It's okay, this is a dream, this is still a dream.
I did a nose-plug reality check and it worked effortlessly! It was so unambiguous that there was no question about it: I was (properly) dreaming!

Wasting no time, I climbed down from my bed and left the room, glancing at N on my way out. I tried to immerse myself in the scene but my vision became patchy, so I focused instead on my destination. I had run through my goals very quickly in my head and settled on snowboarding. I went down the stairs and headed for the front door, gravity so light that I might as well have been walking on the moon! I grinned from ear to ear 'cause it felt so cool.

I wrapped my hand around the handle and thought, Beyond this door is a snowy mountain, the same one I went snowboarding at in middle school. I remembered CanisLucidus's words and tried to imagine it in as much detail as possible. When I opened the door, though, it was only my neighborhood... except blanketed in snow and decorated with Christmas lights! Pretty awesome, but not what I wanted. (I wondered briefly if it would be cold but didn't want to waste time finding a jacket or boots.) I closed the door, intending to try again, but the wood had become glass. I doubted the technique would work if I could see what was outside, so I accepted my fate and exited the house.

After walking a short distance, barefoot yet not cold at all, I looked to my left and saw the snowy mountain right there! Complete with a ski-lift and everything! I sprinted to the top oddly quickly and saw that there were a bunch of kids snowboarding already. It appeared to be a competition, and reminded me of the LDing comp in less than a week.

The kids' stuff was scattered around in the snow, so I stole a snowboard out of a bag labeled "Olivia." It was light blue and on the small side but whatever. I looked around for socks and shoes, since I didn't think it was a good idea to strap myself in barefoot. I spotted a fuzzy pink pair of socks, but they were a bit thin and, frankly, ugly...

A little blond girl ran up to me, eyes sparking with excitement. "We're making some awesome socks over there! Wanna see?"

How useful, I thought. I smiled at her and said sure. She took me to her parents and I kind of forgot about the socks. The dad pointed to two other children and said, "This is her brother, and this is her identical twin sister."

The twin was a lot darker-skinned than the first girl, I guess because the mom was white and the dad was black. [I know that's not how identical twins work… 99.9% of the time.]
      Without warning, I woke up.

      ———

The clock read 5:28, so taking into account my time spent getting comfortable, I was only asleep for 20-ish minutes, same as yesterday. I was shocked because it felt like at least an hour! But I couldn't go back to sleep because I spent the rest of my time writing. (Wish I could use my phone... sigh.)

Anyway, this does count as teleportation, right? It's similar to the closet method, after all. Either way, IT WAS SO COOL!!!

Some sketches of the dream scenes:
Why do you believe in God?-img_20230526_205130150.jpg
(P.S. I have noticed when hovering over pics on my DJ, that they are named after random threads like "What is the nature of will?" and "The Unknown Dreamer" and "HALLOWE'EN". Does it appear that way for anyone else? I wonder what this one will be called.)
(Edit: It's "Why do you believe in God?" LMAO)

    2. 20th Lucid Dream

      by , 05-25-2023 at 10:30 PM (MeiSEKAI)
Last night I listened to 15 minutes of this podcast before going to sleep at 11:20.

      Dream #1 (Fragment, Non-Lucid):
All I remember is that there was this whole thing at school about taking a break from cheering by playing Hearts. My dad was especially hung up about it. Later, I was at my house and Z said he ran "10 miles yesterday," followed by N saying he ran one.

      ———

That's it. It's sad because I have the sense this was a ginormous dream, and also because I didn't wake up till 5:30. I jotted the dream down and poorly did SSILD till I fell back asleep at 5:40-ish.

      ———

      Dream #2 (Lucid; FA; Non-Lucid):
I can barely read my handwriting for this but I'll try! The main character was a guy in his late twenties, and his companion was a girl who could've been anywhere from 19-24. They were in my house, but in different rooms. She was "off-screen" in the bedroom, and he was in the bathroom with the lights turned off. He was perched on top of the door and holding his breath, hiding from a monster coming up the stairs.

Not sure how that scene transitioned into this one, but the monster was now in the bedroom about to kill the girl. MC ran in and knocked it off of her. I can't recall its appearance, only that it was big and dark... maybe wearing a tophat and bowtie? Anyway, the monster turned on him, trying to poke his eyes out.

MC held it off but was starting to feel a little nervous now, so he said in a silly voice, "Why do they always go for the eyes?!" [They had fought multiple monsters before this; not sure if they were false memories or not.]

His attempt to lighten the mood worked. The monster backed off and became friendlier, though MC could feel it was still a threat. It gave him a watch and headed toward the exit, saying something neither MC nor I (as the nonexistent observer) could make out. Right before it left, though, the words "come to that place later and meet me" could be heard. MC agreed, but I don't know if he really meant it.

Later he turned into a child, except it was only an illusion. (Not sure how it worked.) He really wanted to be a kid again. I was now a character in the dream, viewed from third person, following him through a library. On either side of us were windows revealing kids playing with blocks and toys and each other. He wanted to join them, but he couldn't because he was an adult. I think I asked him something, but he didn't reply.

We came to what looked like a mall play area. The unspoken rule that adults weren't allowed was less heavy here, but it would still have been odd. I asked another question and he said he just wanted to pet the cat. Sure enough, at the end of the room, on a stool, was a black cat. He pet it with his tiny hands. I could tell he wanted to give off an air of childish innocence, and I faintly felt a mix of disgust, pity, and affection.

Then something happened and he bolted out of the library, planning on running away from home. I took his place (as in, I was dealing with his situation, but in my body) and he disappeared. This world was more technologically advanced and I knew the chances of me escaping were slim.

I climbed on top of a wall and somehow knew this was Washington DC.
Then out of nowhere, I realized I was dreaming. "Right, that's right, I was trying to have a lucid dream!"

My first instinct was to slow down and stabilize before doing anything. I felt the wall with my hands and feet, looking out at the city and the night sky, and wow, it looked so real! Until I looked back down and everything got blurry, that is. I tried not to worry about the half-blind problem, but I couldn't help it, and although it didn't happen, the dream still faded and
      I woke up.

It was a false awakening. I checked the time and it was past 10:00. Huh...? Do we not have school today? Well, that's good, I'll try to have another lucid dream then. I thought that and went back to sleep.

The scene switched. I was now preparing for some competition at school. The purpose of it was to give "losers" another chance, whatever that meant. But even non-losers had to participate! I was apparently a non-loser in this dream and questioning why I had to go, whining at the top of the stairs about how it's not fair.

The tone of my voice ticked my dad off and he started yelling an "explanation" at me from downstairs. I don't remember my reaction, I just went into the bathroom and
      woke up for real.

      ———

It was 6:02 when I woke up, so this dream was only 20 minutes long. Still... WHY ARE ALL MY LUCIDS LATELY SO SHORT?! And low-level as well... hopefully things improve over the weekend.
    3. Too Romantic to Be True

      by , 05-22-2023 at 11:16 PM (MeiSEKAI)
A short entry for a short dream.

I was reading Owari no Seraph, and for some background information, MikaxYuu is its most popular ship by far. In this chapter Mika said something that was essentially a confession, and Yuu thought, "Yes! Yes! Yeeeeeeessss!!!" and then they started kissing

I was extremely surprised by the blatantness of it, as it's usually "left up to interpretation" to some degree. In any case, they've certainly never kissed, and it felt way too sudden. Then I realized,
Oh, this must be a dream. There's no other way.

I thought back to the [true] most recent chapter, and sure enough, this scene made no chronological sense. Still, I wanted to take a picture to show people what my dream version of OnS was like. I scrolled back up and saw that the three "Yes"es had changed to "No"s. I was a bit disappointed and tried to consciously switch them back, but it didn't work. When I scrolled back down though, romantic stuff ensued anyway—albeit in a more aggressive manner.

I'm not sure when I woke up, but that's the last thing I remember. I think the reason I've been having a lot of mildly lucid dreams lately is because in real life I often tell myself I'm in a dream without doing anything about it. I should perform my steps (check for false memories, RC, remember goals) each time I think that IWL. If that still doesn't fix the problem, I'll go back to telling myself I will have a lucid dream instead of I'm already in a dream.

    4. Yesterday's Dreams

      by , 05-21-2023 at 09:14 PM (MeiSEKAI)
I've been super busy this week 'cause for some dumb reason every single important exam and project is packed into May. Therefore I haven't been able to be on dreamviews much, or even to spend much time on daytime techniques... but I had these LDs anyway! I decided to try out present tense with 'em.

      Dream #1 (Non-Lucid):
Actually this isn't a dream, because I can't remember anything about it. I woke up at 1:40, opened my DJ to a random page, and wrote "book," "reddit," "water," "dad," "crazy," and something illegible. Then I went back to sleep.

      Dream #2 (Semi-Lucid):
First thing I remember is me and my brothers getting locked in the basement. There is a long backstory as to why, but I can't remember. All I know is that we're in a very oppressive environment and will likely be punished severely, even killed, when we're let out. We want to escape before that happens.

Z asks if there's any way to break the glass of the sliding doors. I press my hands to it and shake my head. "Are you kidding? This thing is like ten inches thick."

      "True," N says.

Z grabs a crowbar from somewhere and is about to try anyway, but I stop him because it will make too much noise. I fiddle with something complicated and half-unlock the doors. (Two out of four unlocked.) My brain isn't functioning properly, but I figure out that I have to move this giant black printer off the desk. At first I carelessly slide it off the edge, but at the last second I catch it and quietly lower it to the ground.

With it out of the way, two switches on the wall have been revealed. I press one of them and the third lock clicks, the second one causing the same reaction in the fourth. I go to the door and, after undoing both locks, open it. Z blows raspberries to cover up the noise.

"Why are you farting?" I ask loudly, playing along. Then the door is open and we run out. I tell them we have to keep running till we get to the lake, then we can take a break. But I forget about that plan and eventually we are just running in no particular direction. I'm worn out already, and it's hard to move my legs in that typical dream way.

"Why are you tired? We've only ran 50 (something), that's not a lot," Z says, turning around to see me hunched over and catching my breath.

"I'm out of shape," I say defensively. "Also, I'm having a lot of trouble moving."

Then I have a "flashback" to the facility we were apparently stored in, the one we just escaped from. I am in a white hallway with glass windows, teenage subjects filing past me on both sides. A "professor" is talking to some girl, and I walk up to him, saying I can't run properly.

He gives me some semi-useful advice, and the girl next to him says, "What helps for me is focusing on lowering my left arm at the same time my right foot goes down."

That seems like a wise suggestion, so I try it, but her opposite leg-arm thing feels weird. I align them instead, but I can't focus on my feet planting.
I vaguely think, Because this is a dream. Then I forget about it and return to the present.

I'm a little better at running now, but it's still weird. Z and N turn into a mix of Avery and S, 90% Avery though. I take her to a restaurant and we buy food. I somehow end up with boba even though I don't like it. The boba is cube-shaped and green like the drink, and my straw sucks it up automatically.

At first they are sweet and pretty tasty, and I think, Boba might not be so bad after all. But then a sour aftertaste kicks in, and when I drink more it tastes like coffee (which I dislike). I figure they must not have separated it from the cacao beans because it's "normally" served in lattes. I also have a ziplock bag filled with them, but I don't want it and neither does Avery. I feel bad for the waiter, who's standing next to our table, watching.

At some point a group of college students come in, our in-dream classmates and part of the same facility we escaped from. I pray that they won't tell on us, but they don't seem to care much. I have an interesting conversation with one of them that I don't remember, and then Avery and I leave. We hear slow police sirens in the distance, which apparently means they're carefully searching and sifting through each neighborhood.

Eventually we end up at a boardwalk-carnival place, where another Avery is sitting on a bench. She spots us, goes "aha!" and types something on her flip-phone. I know she's reporting us.

"No!" I yell and fly into the air, out of her reach. Despite my distress, I think it would be funny to introduce the two to each other. [I must have been slightly lucid because I remember believing there were two Averys in real life as well, and technically, there are—my childhood friend, and the current stranger.]

They seem acquainted though, as My Avery stomps up to Evil Avery, shouting with fury, "Avery!"

Evil Avery smirks, ignoring her doppelganger and saying to me, "I got you last time, too."

It's true, I do have the sense I've dreamed this before. [Even now.] I don't respond and keep trying to fly away, half Superman-style and half Flappybird-style. I feel a little hesitant about leaving My Avery behind, so I yell at her to run.

We both flee, her on foot, me by air, but we don't get far. I don't know why, but I just keep flying in elaborate circles around the rides and tents. When my mom comes though, I stop that and actually try to get away. There is a grove of trees in front of a large concrete wall, and on top of the wall is an even larger spiky chainlink fence. I scale it and My Avery leaps over the trees to do the same, somehow having gained super-jumping powers. She vaults the fence and drops down to what looks like the roof of my school.

I am a little scared even though I "know" it's a dream and I should stay confident. [I think I might've been semi-semi-semi-lucid this whole dream, it just shined through in flashes like these.] A random narrator says, "Good thing (Evil) Avery wasn't able to use either the chain links nor the spikes to climb the fence!"

I turn around and sure enough, Evil Avery has fallen into the grove of trees, her eyes impaled by a couple branches. Her appearance has transformed into that of Kalluto Zoldyck from Hunter x Hunter, but I don't notice. I cry out her name and rush to her. In the back of my mind I'm thinking, So the plot calls for me to still care about my childhood friend, evil or not. How touching.

She is alive but badly hurt. I pick her up and take her to a nearby hospital, which means getting captured again but that doesn't matter now. My Avery follows, and as we're screened into the building, we have to classify ourselves with a number stating our danger/rarity level. She says "8v6"—apparently she has been here before and her rank is higher than before. I say "10v4."

I tell the guy in charge (who looks like Milluki from HxH except with white hair) to help Evil Avery, but he is apathetic, which surprises me more than it should. I think about leaving or destroying stuff, and over the intercom he says I can destroy whatever I want, since nothing matters. Maybe he is testing my abilities.

I "know" this is a dream, and this time I hold on to that knowledge. I look up to a spiraling arrangement of pipes and try to telepathically slash through them, but I can't. There are some lightbulbs tied together on the wall like big Christmas lights, so I break them, but it's weird. I focus on one, and the one next to it breaks. Then when I try to fix it by zeroing in on a black bulb with gold decor, I hear a shattering sound, but it only appears broken when I look away and look back.

After a while of this I get worried about my vision and the half-blind thing happening, so I step through a doorway into a warehouse area. My mom is there. I feel like any minute now my vision will go out, and I wonder what I should do. I remember a convo I had with Harlequin that day and decide to try out a command.

"Clarity now!" I shout, and for a split second I don't expect much because I didn't direct it toward the dream. But then the scenery pulses and ripples and at the same time I feel it the effects within my body. When it stops, my surroundings are clearer than before.

"Wow..." I say. My mom asks what happened, and I tell her, "I just experienced something amazing."

"What?" She's kind of smiling, and I'm surprised she's not mad at me for running away. I don't want to tell her it's a dream in case I jinx it, but I also don't want to ignore her.

"Next time you're dreaming, realize it," I explain, well-aware I'm oversimplifying it. "Then say 'clarity now,' and you'll see."

She just keeps smiling as if she understands.

I lose lucidity and the plot returns to Evil Avery. I carry her out of the building, pressing down the feeling that it shouldn't be this easy. I say that if Milluki won't help her, I will go to every other hospital in the area, even the "community center" if I have to. He seems more hesitant now and maybe agrees.

He tells me that Cinderella's parents died when she was young and that's why her kids and grandkids and great-grandkids are so messed up. Her great-grandkid is apparently my "mom" and works at the facility. I am able to watch the story in a thought-bubble like screen, and this Cinderella looks more like Kyouko from Irisu Syndrome.

"Wow," I say. "I'll break that chain, then."

Even though I say that, I have the sense that I just isekai'd into the body of Cinderella's great-great-grandchild and am actually someone else entirely.
      Then I wake up.

      ———

I woke up at 6:07, and it took me until 7:30 to finish writing down this dream Well, that was mostly because I kept spacing out in between each sentence. Then I set an alarm for 8:45 and went back to sleep.

      ———

      Dream #3 (Lucid; DEID; Non-Lucid):
Me and someone else are watching a video of some pink-haired livestreamer, and I notice the background is almost exactly the same as my room. I point each matching detail out, particularly the photographs, and become lucid.

My vision immediately blacks out, but I say, "Clarity now! Clarity now!" and it comes back. I do a finger-through-palm RC and it makes the back of my hand extend an abnormal amount, though it doesn't go all the way through. I head downstairs and as I'm thinking about what to do,
I wake up. Just for a second! I am 85% sure it wasn't an FA.

I close my eyes again and do an unintentional DEID, not DEILD because I'm not lucid when I re-enter. I check the time and it says 8:37, then Nile runs out of the house. I catch him and bring him back inside, only for my mom to yell at me about not making sure N ate his 30 rice cakes.

I'm confused and walk into the living room to find N sitting at the dinner table, a miserable look on his face. In front of him is a bowl filled to the brim with rectangular, reddish mochi.

      ———

I woke up soon after at 8:43, two minutes before my alarm was set to go off. Interesting that the dream time aligned so well with reality. I rushed the notes for this one because I had to leave the house at 9:30, that's why it's not very detailed.

Additionally, the reason I say this dream was lucid while the other was semi-lucid is because the other felt more like roleplaying, whereas in this one I had more awareness that I was actually asleep somewhere in real life. Even though I didn't remember my goals in either

And here are some pics of the dream scenes:

    6. Why Does This Keep Happening??

      by , 05-15-2023 at 12:33 AM (MeiSEKAI)
Title is in regards to the lucid. Went to sleep at 11:45, a little later than usual because my brother's explosive fart startled me awake as I was drifting off.

      Also, happy Mother's Day!

      Dream #1 (Fragment; Non-Lucid)
      Spoiler for self-harm:

      Dream #2 (Non-Lucid)
I was in J and L's car. Their mom was driving us to the school so they could sign up for something called "NASSER." [We're learning about him in history but in the dream it was just some program.] I was thinking about joining as well until I realized it was a cheering thing.

Eventually the plot changed and I was going to a bunch of side characters' houses (that's actually how I thought of them in the dream). I knocked on one door and a young, straight couple answered. I stared at the man's face, making sure I recognized him.

He smiled awkwardly down at where I was, for some reason, crouching. "Uh, do we know you?"

"Yes!" I exclaimed. "I'm the one who came to your doorstep crying earlier, like this!" I mimicked a wailing sound, hoping it would be more funny than weird. Not sure if that event actually happened or if it was a false memory. Either way, it seemed to jog their memory, and they let me in.

I sat down at their table and watched them. The gf was scolding the guy for not taking care of their little cat-child. [Not a neko-person—a literal cat, which was somehow their child.] He held up his hands and tried to laugh it off.

Some time later, a bunch of weird battles happened. We'd get in a giant heart-shaped balloon and fight other balloon-creatures. It was pretty cool, but eventually we got overpowered and had to flee. A bonafide car-chase ensued, complete with suave spy music and everything.

A keychain was sticking out from the napkin holder, and the dad pulled it out, revealing his cat-child! "Oh, thank God, thank goodness, [gf's name]..." Apparently she had put it there. It nuzzled against his fingers and we continued driving.

We passed by a giant Mr. Krabs in his own balloon, and I wanted to fight, even though I knew it wasn't a good idea. We got out and into our giant heart-balloon, and I started to have regrets...
      Then I woke up.

      ———

It was 5:30, which was pretty distressing for me since I usually wake up for the first time at 3:00-4:00. I jotted down some quick dream notes but didn't fall asleep till after my 6:15 alarm went off.

      ———

      Dream #3 (Lucid):
I was dropped off at my school, I guess for orientation or something. These two blond girls got out of the car in front of me, one with the appearance of a 1st grader, the other a 5th grader. I think they were supposed to be freshmen.

The older one took the little one's hands and said sympathetically, "[Name], I'm so sorry that you won't be having as many dreams now that school is starting."

The little one responded solemnly, "No, [name], I'm sorry that you won't be a natural lucid dreamer anymore."

That's not how it works, why would she say that? I didn't think it with words, but it's how I felt. The OG looked troubled and dropped her hands.

I was excited to hear people talking about lucid dreaming, so I kept my eyes on them as we walked toward the school. The OG was still talking about it and doing a series of reality checks. I was a bit surprised she knew about/performed them despite being a natural LDer.

Uncharacteristically, I approached them in the middle of their conversation. "Do you wanna know the best reality check?"

The LG stared up at me with a neutral expression, but the OG jolted away and shrieked in disgust. "Get away, don't touch me!!"

I wasn't touching her in the first place but I backed up, thinking, What's her problem? I tried to play off my wounded ego by continuing: "Okay, okay, gosh... but do you really not want to know?"

It didn't seem like she did, and she still looked disgusted, but she said, "Fine. What is it?"

"The nose plug RC! You just plug your nose and try to breathe through it."

For a few seconds she just looked at me with an inexplicable expression. Finally, she said slowly, "I've tried that in a dream before. It didn't work."

"Oh, really? Ahahaha, okay..." Now I felt stupid. "I've also had some failed RCs, they were all finger-through-palm ones, though... Anyway, I've only had 15 LDs so far but I think it's really cool that you're a natural! Okay, bye!"

I turned to flee, but the school doors were right in front of us, so I held them open (with some difficulty) for the two girls. When I turned around, though, they were gone. This big brawny kid was trying to get in, but I practically looked through him, croaking out pathetic sounds of confusion.

Then I had a false awakening. As I often do, I was thinking about the dream without knowing it was a dream yet. Sitting up, I thought, I should've added that if the nose-plug doesn't work at first, you could try moving your tongue so that only the tip is touching the roof of your mouth. [I wonder if this would actually help...]

Eventually I realized it was just a dream and I needed to do an RC now. A weird wave-feeling rushed through my head; I assumed it was the excitement of possibly being lucid, and that one could wake up from it if they weren't careful. I plugged my nose and breathed. Nothing happened at first, but when I paid really close attention,
it did seem like a little air was getting through. I couldn't believe it! I was really dreaming!

Okay, I should make the floor light up as I walk, even if dream control is harder in FAs... should I try to find an unusual pet instead? I considered my options as I climbed down from my bed, but as soon as my feet touched the floor, HALF OF MY VISION WENT AWAY!!! The left half this time! I tried to ignore it and walk out of the room, but in a matter of seconds the scene dissolved and
I was awake, my eyes trained upwards.

      ———

This is the third time this has happened... I can only assume that I'm opening one eye in real life. It doesn't happen all the time, though... maybe only when I'm nearing the end of a dream.

It was 7:20 when I finished writing, but I went back to sleep because I could.

      ———

      Dream #4 (Non-Lucid):
My memories of this dream are pretty fragmented, but I understand the gist of it.

I was with J in my neighborhood, and we were trying to get to school. She had a map but couldn't read it. Eventually I noticed that not only was she holding it upside down, but it wasn't a map to the school in the first place! "Isn't that a world map?" I asked, laughing.

I don't remember her response, but she gave up and we started walking. I noticed a wrestler-looking guy trailing behind us and took J behind a fence. As expected, he found us. I stepped in front of J and demanded to know why he was following us.

"Do you know The Phoenix?" he grumbled menacingly.

I had no idea who that was, but just to mess with him I said, "Do you mean... THE Phoenix?!"

"SO YOU DO KNOW!" he roared, and the ground exploded, a wrestling ring rising up from the earth and surrounding us. I thought it was hilarious, until a flying tiger jumped into the ring. Then I grabbed J and ran, leaving them to fight each other.

Later the main character became a girl who was sharing a lucid dream with her friend. There was a whole backstory I don't remember, but at one point she was watching these AoT characters reel in a broken piece of the dock from a bay? I don't know what was going on anymore, but it was pretty epic in the dream.

Then she woke up, did DEILD by forming a glowing golden ball in her hands and absorbing it into her chest. She did this multiple times, but I don't remember any other specific breaks.

Now she was in a port city and had a DC friend who was both jealous and money-grubbing. The MC could form giant metal Mecha suits of armor around herself and used it to fight evil. She was able to incorporate the DC friend into the armor as well, but chose not to this one time. For the rest of the dream the DC friend was being a sulky brat about it, until the MC sat down in my house's kitchen, waiting to wake up.

She was using a voice recorder, intending to bring it back to the real world to see what the transition between sleep and waking sounded like. Other people were also able to hear through it. It was here that she half-became me, and the DC friend became my friend A. She was dressed in her handmade black dress and was teary-eyed.

"A, why are you crying? Just because I didn't include you in one fight? It's not like it'll always-" Something cut me off, not sure what. "What do you even want?"

She pouted at me, before saying, "...You."

"What?!" I yelled. "A! You know we're being recorded right now?!" I shoved the recorder in her face. "You're too cheesy—stop saying things that can be misunderstood!"

She burst into tears. "I don't care! I just want you to love me again!"

I had no idea what she was talking about, and before I could figure out how to placate her,
I woke up for real at 9:45.

      ———

This entry is probably of lower quality compared to my others, my brain isn't working today.

Oh, but the day after my chain of semi-lucids, I had a semi-semi-lucid where I successfully managed to teleport! Nice

    7. Chain of Semi-Lucids and FAs

      by , 05-06-2023 at 06:50 PM (MeiSEKAI)
Yesterday when my friend J and I were walking home from school, I asked her what she would do if she could do anything she wanted, including supernatural things. Her answer was "teleport." This is relevant for later. Went to sleep at 11:30 as usual.

      Dream #1: Non-Lucid
I don't remember much of this dream. I was climbing a super tall tree, a popular one, so a bunch of other people were doing it as well. I was thinking about the different types of acrophobia (fear of heights), that mine was the type who doesn't get scared until they're really high up. [Actually, in real life I get scared just from being six feet off the ground.] I thought it was the most dangerous type because you would lead people to believe you could do more than you were truly capable of.

We had to play videogames to progress, and each of them would fill the entire "screen." I specifically remember a racecar game but it's hard to explain, at first I was losing but then I put in more effort and managed to pass the few other people playing. At one point my car shoved aside someone else's and went down a narrow path, the other car pushing me from behind, unintentionally helping me out.

Then we were back in the tree and there was a young man near me, he said he didn't know anyone his age who saw colors as badly as he did. (I guess he was colorblind.) My vision was messed up as well; I could see colors fine but my head was spinning from fear so I couldn't concentrate on anything. I kept looking down at the large patch of grass far, far below us.

Eventually I couldn't stand to be in the tree any longer, so I forced my locked-up limbs to move and climbed down to a ledge, nearly falling to my death in the process. The way I pulled myself over a branch was so awkward and I was shaking horribly but I managed to get to the ledge. I breathed a huge sigh of relief
and woke up at 3:25. Was extremely tired but jotted down the dream anyway, falling back asleep within seconds.

      Dream #2 (Non-Lucid):
Remember even less from this dream, and I can barely read my own handwriting. I was on the bus, sitting between J and a girl named Sarah. It was really dark in there for some reason, and on my phone I was watching an animated version of Genshin Impact. The style reminded me of Animal Crossing, though at the time I couldn't remember the name and just settled on Animal Farm.

When we got off, I asked the bus driver how to save (as in download) something. She explained it to me but was a little too helpful in my opinion. She kept talking and asking if I needed help and I started to feel awkward because my only responses were nods or shakes of the head.

When she finally stopped I yelled, "J!" because she and our friend K were leaving me behind. I wondered if the driver was surprised by my sudden outburst since I didn't say a peep to her.

J and K walked back to me, and I thought, It's as if I summoned them.
Then I woke up at 4:50-ish.

      Dream #3 (Non-Lucid):
Another short one! I was with my childhood group of friends (as our current ages), but they had all ostracized this kid named Sam H. (He wasn't part of our group in real life but he was another childhood friend of mine.) He kinda reminded me of Yu Yang from Here U Are so maybe he was gay, but I don't think that was the reason they disliked him.

I was the only one to take his side. I went up to one of the group members and told him off for being so mean. He threw a rock at me but I caught it one-handed and glared.

Then there was a flashback to Sam H. and Sam G. (another member) talking. Their hair colors were switched for some reason. Sam H. asked who in the group the other Sam would want to get rid of [not exact wording], and Sam G. basically said that they were all too precious to him to choose. (Which was ironic considering his treatment of Sam H. in the future.)

After a pause, he said sheepishly, "Maybe S though?" (I don't know how but this somehow implied something else, something romantic.) Then he added, "To get them off my back." (Which removed the implication.)

I thought it was hilarious and texted S about in in the present, since they had a crush on him back then. But I kept stumbling on how I knew about their talk, since I wasn't there. My thoughts were all jumbled up: "Sam G. told me... no, Sam H. did... hm..."

At some point I was with my dad and he was talking about Animal Crossing, but calling it Animal Farm. He searched it up and asked if that was the correct name. I saw the style and thought of my last dream, telling him yes, it was called Animal Farm. But I was still uncertain.

      ———

Woke up at 6:05 and after writing down that dream, I tried to do WILD by staying focused on my breath and repeating "This is a dream" in my head. I also briefly thought of the conversation I had with J, but decided that "teleport" was too vague a mantra and I'd just have to remember to do it once I became lucid. [The reason I wanted to in the first place was so that I could report the dream to her, motivating her to put more effort into LDing.] Fell asleep around 6:20-ish.

      ———

      Dream #4 (Chain of Semi-Lucids+FAs):
The WILD must have worked because next thing I knew, I was in a dream and semi-lucid. I was talking to S in Sarah's body, using my voice recorder to record what they were saying. [I had asked them a question but was more focused on the recorder and my thoughts than their response.] I was hoping that I could bring it back to the real world and show S what their dream self was like.

But as I was "waking up," trying to stabilize by rubbing my hands together, I realized that since I had started recording in the dream, it wouldn't be able to come back with me in reality. I told S this and they wailed comically in despair.

Then I had a false awakening and was disappointed. Went back to sleep, using the same WILD technique as before.

Now I was outside of J and L's house, except it was actually S's house and neighborhood but functionally it was J and L's. They were both freaking out about something, maybe these silver flecks all across their collarbone areas. (In the dream I believed it was a skin condition they've always had.)

They were trembling and whimpering and being really dramatic, and I asked, "Why are you guys freaking out? I mean, I get L, but why you, J?"

I don't think they answered, but that's when I remembered the conversation J and I had yesterday. "Hey, stay here," I told them, and dashed off a little ways away.

Apparently Laila followed because she was sitting on a doorstep nearby. I told her I was going to teleport into her house and doubtfully she asked, "Is that really possible?"

"Anything is possible!" I declared, and flew into the air, spinning with my arms outstretched. I consciously made black lines trail from my fingers through the air. L seemed impressed. Then I thrust my hands downwards, imagining being in J's house, and yelled, "Teleport!"

A golden glow engulfed me from below, but something went wrong. The dream started falling apart. I thought that I should've opened a portal on the ground in front of me, and another in front of Jude, then jumped into mine to appear before her.
I had a false awakening in my bed; it was so realistic! I quickly went back to sleep to try again and ended up in the same place. This time both J and L were in the spot I'd told them to stay.

Instead of instantly trying to teleport, I got on all fours and crawled on my stomach toward them to stabilize the dream On the way I passed by these guys throwing each other across the street. I figured I should question things so I asked what they were doing, but they didn't answer and I honestly didn't find it that strange in the first place. I picked up a green paper and threw it in their direction. The sound and sensation were very vivid.

Alas, I woke up anyway (FA). Frustrated that my stability rates had become so low despite my best efforts, I went back to sleep once again.

I was now at the top of some stairs in a basement area. It was part of my school in the dream but it doesn't exist in real life. There were a ton of students having a club meeting down there, circled around a teacher that was like a mix of my long-term Theatre sub last year and a young sub who always talks nonstop about gaming during class.

He was telling them about LDs and I said, "I had three lucid dreams just now!"

I crawled down the stairs on my stomach, but they didn't pay much attention to me. The students muttered amongst themselves about what a lucid dream was, if it was something demonic or a ritual or whatever. Mr. R didn't seem to know much either and was fumbling with his words.

I went to his side, crouching for some reason, and said, "A lucid dream is when you're aware that you're dreaming while you're dreaming. That's it."

"Ooh." They seemed more open to me now. I noticed this guy named Daniel in the back of the crowd, it's kinda funny that he was there because he's in a million different clubs in real life. I wondered if they all thought I was a natural lucid dreamer, and considered recommending that they form an LDing club, but decided against it.

Later I was sitting on the couch with all of them
when I suddenly realized something. "Hah... you all are talking about lucid dreaming—of course this is a dream."

They seemed a little confused, so I got up and said, "Watch this. I've been wanting to try this."

I held my hands close together and tried to summon a fireball in between them. I could only manage to impose a translucent flicker of realistic-looking flame, and only for a short time. The girl next to me made a biting remark, and I thought with some bitterness, You're only saying that because I'm thinking it.

I gave up and instead thrust my hands in front of me, trying to launch a line of fire from them. There was a girl in the way but I didn't really care. It didn't work at all though; I was trying to at least feel heat on my hands but nope.

This is harder than I thought it would be, I thought. [I still think it would be pretty easy with full lucidity.]
Then I had yet another false awakening!

I woke up in the same basement, but this time it was in third person. I was an anime boy buried in a mound of plushies, my face flushed and my eyes literal spinning circles. There was a kid checking up on me but when I opened my eyes he retreated as if he'd been doing something wrong.

"You okay there, Meiseki? Looking a little hot," someone said. It was a friendly, gym-teacher-like voice.

"Yeah." I dug myself out of the plushies and the perspective returned to first person. "I had a dream about fire."

I still kinda knew it was a dream, but at the same time thought I had to sleep to enter another one. So I buried myself in the plushies again, this time on the couch, and waited for sleep.

Soon after, a delivery guy came in, trying to sell his own plushies and insulting a giraffe one near me. (It was made by a different brand or game or something.)

"Hey!" I said in a jokingly offended tone. "Don't insult the giraffe!"

He held up his hands and smiled. "It's part of my job, I have to say it. I don't actually hate it."

Satisfied, I continued trying to fall asleep. In front of me there was a guy flipping through my DJ entries from tonight (all the ones previous to this one including the semi-lucids), comically horrified at their length. There were drawings at the end, one of which was of the club members and I sitting on the couch, me in the middle, smiling.

My vision was fading out, and up until this point I believed I was drifting off, relieved that I wouldn't have to write all the previous dreams when I woke up since apparently I already did. But when I saw that drawing, so detailed and professional-looking, I realized that they were false entries and I would have to write everything "again."

That's when I finally woke up for real at 6:45, actually remembering to do an RC. I now fully realize and appreciate the importance of RCing every time you wake up, no matter what... just one would have boosted my lucidity level so much... probably

Anyway, it seems I have more luck with LDs after 6:15. Maybe because I can focus on WILDing better, idk. Too bad I have to get up early 5 days of the week... This was so interesting though, even if it took foreeever to write I'll be adding it to my LD count as a single lucid, since it all technically took place in the same dream.
    8. Potential Dream Guide?

      by , 05-04-2023 at 11:42 PM (MeiSEKAI)
Okay, so the first half of last night was fairly disappointing. I awoke from a nice dream and started going over it in my head, still tired. Somewhere along the way I got the impression that I had recorded the dream in my phone rather than DJ so I didn't need to write it down, and now I don't remember it at all ;v; Don't worry though, it gets better.

      Dream #1 (Fragment, Non-Lucid):
I was in my ESS classroom, in a miserable mood and maybe trying to take a nap. I talked to this guy named Jason and turned an assignment in. It was pretty vivid so it's a shame I don't remember anything else.

      Dream #2 (Non-Lucid):
First thing I remember is that there was some random family in my house—a father, mother, and little boy. The mom in particular was very vivid to me. She was skinny, wearing an off-the-shoulder dress, with freckles splattered all across her shoulders and face. Her dirty-blond hair was tied in a half-up, half-down style, and she had a freaky smile and wide-open reddish eyes. [Now that I'm awake, her appearance reminds me of a character named Roselia from the most recent chapter of King's Maker.] I did not like her.

They were talking about something gross, don't remember the particulars, when the little boy asked what would happen if the dad died. He responded that the mom would have to get pregnant to one of his two older brothers (one of which was Sunny from OMORI)?! The mom didn't say anything, just cuddled up to her husband and smiled her creepy smile, nodding at everything he said.

I was so disgusted that I ran away screaming. They chased me, and I fumbled to unlock the front door. As soon as I was out, I got dizzy and the plotline was forgotten. My vision wasn't aligning properly with where I was looking and I could barely move my body. It was like trying to play a PC game that needs a mouse with your keyboard touchpad.

The door was ajar and I worried that Nile (dog) would escape, so I tried really hard to turn around and adjust my vision. I managed to do it, just in time to see Nile dash out of the house. I attempted to pounce on him, but my arms just flapped pathetically in his direction.

A moment later a tigress followed; she was very overprotective of Nile. I had recovered just enough to grab her by the scruff, although unlike last time I could not muster the strength to grab her face and shove her back in. [In the dream I knew this had happened twice before, but now I think they were false memories rather than previous dreams or a replay of events.]

She struggled against me, demanding that I let her go. I thought she might bite me, but I was not very scared. In the most confident and authoritarian voice I could muster, I said, "[Name]! Did you not learn anything from the previous two times?! You running out to find him just overcomplicates things! My mother and I are perfectly capable of finding him ourselves, so stop freaking out. Why do you always insist on making a nuisance of yourself?"

I actually managed to convince her, and she went back inside. Then my mom came out and yelled at me for letting Nile escape. I told her that my vision wasn't that good right now. Ms. F [math teacher] was in the back and implied that I had the same eye-related disease that she did [she's colorblind in real life but in the dream it was something much more serious]. I interrupted her and said, "No, it's just something that makes me dizzy from time to time, it's already going away."

And it was. I could see and move properly now. I was uncomfortable because I didn't want my mom to freak out or interrogate me, so when she started asking a question I ran off to find Nile.

I don't think the dizziness happened again, but I felt extremely tired and had to stop in the middle of the road. There was a young boy nearby and I wondered what would happen if I fainted in front of him. I started thinking about naps and a Wikipedia-esque hologram appeared, listing off the different types of naps. There was "a light nap," "a good, refreshing nap," "an overextended nap," maybe a couple others, and "an Endless Nap." (Far in the back of my mind I was reminded of an OMORI fan-song called Endless Dreaming.)

They all had descriptions and that one's was something like, "A slumber with no conclusion; a lifetime doomed to interminable rest." I thought, So like a coma? An alternative definition was, "A student sleeping through exam day. They sleep through test after test, hyperbolically deemed a series of endless naps."

I eventually turned back to my house and saw my mom beckoning Nile with a treat, him running to meet her. I woke up after that.

      ———

I woke up some minutes before my 6:15 alarm and wrote down my dream. I didn't have to go to school in the morning because the freshmen were taking some test, so I wrote down my dream and tried to do WILD. It took over an hour to fall back asleep, but it was not for naught!

      ———

      Dream #3 (Lucid):
I had a false awakening in my bed and heard my dad playing with Nile downstairs. It seemed to be a really intense game and I could hear Nile hyperventilating from how much he was exerting himself. I was a bit concerned about his health, but figured it was fine since he's a dog. (I was also disappointed that my WILD attempt had failed and wanted to try again.)

When my dad finished playing, he came up to my room (even though I had been hoping he wouldn't) and tried to wake me up. I told him that I didn't have school this morning and he left dejectedly, saying something about how the house was so quiet and lonely. Even in the dream I knew it was out of character for him, and was thinking about the ruckus he had been making with Nile not five minutes ago.

I looked at my clock and saw it was 10:01. Oh no, I thought, I was supposed to meet J at the library at 10:00 today [true]! Better hurry.

I climbed down from my bunk bed and went to my drawer. There was what seemed to be a really horrible Miku costume on the ground, and I wondered if my mom had made it. It was extremely small and discolored, made out of some gross wrinkly material, so there was no way anyone could wear it.

Then I opened my drawer and saw a bunch of frilly, flamboyant clothing that I would never wear. I felt threatened, but only for a moment. I considered the possibility that my mom had replaced all my clothes because she wanted me to wear these instead. But it was still strange, so I decided to do a reality check.

The first one, finger-through-palm, didn't work. Then I tried the nose-plug RC, and it also didn't work, but I kept trying. Something was not right about this.
After a full five seconds of paying close attention, my breath shakily started coming through!

"Yes!" I smiled and wondered if it had taken so long because I was exhaling in real life until that point, and was relieved that my intense inhaling hadn't roused me.

I was pretty clear-headed and remembered my goals immediately. I looked at my open bedroom door and tried to summon a dream guide. A faint shadow appeared to walk in, but it wasn't efficient enough. I imagined someone behind me, hands on my shoulders, but it just gave me a sensation of warmth. I sighed and moved to leave the room, nearly bumping into a young lady, 21-ish, if I had to guess).

I looked her over. She had light-pink skin and oddly realistic—as opposed to anime—blue eyes rimmed in eyeshadow. There were black dots on her upper cheeks and nose, but they weren't freckles; maybe makeup or something alien. She had a small, smirking, red-painted mouth and a pink bun with two tassel hairpins going through it. She was wearing a colorful, kimono-like dress, maybe sandals too, and her nails were dyed a deeper pink than her skin.

A little dumbfounded, I asked, "Are you my dream guide?"

"Is that what you really want?" she responded, and I wasn't sure what to say. Then she ran past me and jumped out the window.

"Hey, wait!" I yelled, rushing to the window, being careful to avoid the glass shards. She was already on the ground running away. It did not really occur to me to chase her, and I went downstairs.

My brothers were home, playing video games. I briefly wondered why since they didn't have off this morning, but didn't think too hard about it. They were judging me for some reason, I could tell. Then I stepped into the living room and BAM, half my vision went away just like in my ten-second lucid. It wasn't quite as unstable as that time, though.

I rubbed my hands together, and although the sensation was vivid, it wasn't doing much. So I held a hand over my blind eye (it didn't look like I was staring into darkness, but rather a wall of skin), and some of my vision came back, but it was extremely distorted. I tried everything to stabilize it! Focused on smell, all I smelled was air; focused on sound, my brother was playing a shooting game on a tablet, which helped a bit I think. I stomped my feet and listened to the thuds, and yelled, "One of you talk to me!" to which my dad responded from behind. (Don't remember with what.)

I thought about closing my eyes and trying to teleport but was worried that when I opened them I'd be awake (like last time). I guess I could've spun around or fallen backward, but I didn't think of it.

Alas, despite my best efforts, my surroundings were gradually replaced with that of my bed.
      I was awake.

      ———

It was 8:40 when I woke up. This will be the last entry in my current (physical) dream journal, since I've run out of space. That's something of an achievement, to fill up a DJ, right? And this LD is a nice way to end it off

Here are some quick sketches of the dream scenes:

    9. It's Something, I Guess

      I had a ONE-SECOND lucid last night

I was sitting outside somewhere, maybe in front of our car, thinking dejectedly, "No way this is a dream, but I guess I'll do a reality check anyway."

      I did a nose-plug RC, and it
faintly worked! But for some reason, I still wasn't excited or entirely convinced. I did it again, and yeah, it really was working. I closed my eyes (I don't know why), and when I opened them, I was awake in my bed.

The dejected mood from the dream carried over. I thought, Of course, and went back to sleep without writing it down I only remembered it this morning when I did a reality check in the bathroom.

    10. Untitled Document and My Killer Dog

      by , 04-30-2023 at 06:57 PM (MeiSEKAI)
Got a little more creative with this title Seems my lucid dreams are evening out to about once a week? I took Benadryl for my allergies last night and it knocked me out, didn't wake up till my alarm went off at 6:15, and then I didn't write down my dream because I was trying to do a DEILD, but it failed! I forgot what it was by now, so this is the first dream of the night/morning:

      Dream #1 (Non-Lucid):
First thing I remember is my dad seeing a real-life doc I had open on my Chromebook. It's simply called Untitled Document and is filled with some pretty personal stuff. I saw him looking and quickly shut it, hoping that he hadn't been able to read much. I couldn't remember what I'd written, only saw that the paragraph was titled "Communications."

I went downstairs and poured myself a glass of milk, stressing about being exposed, wondering if I could lie my way out of this by saying it was a fictional story or whatnot. I headed to the basement to confront my mother before he could get to her.

"Mom," I said. "Dad saw something I wrote and I think he's getting the wrong idea about it, it's really nothing..."

By this point my dad had gone back to his room and my mom apparently thought he was trying to sleep. She begged/scolded me not to talk to him right now because he would be really angry if I woke him up. I was annoyed that she made it seem like it would be my fault if something bad happened to me, but I said nothing.

"You should write a note," she continued. "Put it in a ziplock bag and leave it in the family folder."

"Family folder? What family folder?" [There is no such thing.]

She said something and a false memory came to me, of some color-coded folders that we were supposed to use to talk to each other. They had only ever been used once or twice.

"No one checks those!" I said, and she said something dismissive so I went back upstairs to my room. Before I opened the door, though, my dad burst out of his own room, seething with rage.

"It's so unambiguous, you're really going to...!" He didn't finish his sentence, but his face was beet red and his teeth were bared and he was jumping up and down with fury. The Chromebook was now open in my hands and I looked at the "Communications" entry, realizing that it was absolutely nothing to get so worked up over. All it said was something about math making me feel like a god sometimes. Despite knowing this, his anger still woke me up.

      ———

It was 7:30 when I woke up, and my body was completely numb. I could still move it though, so I sat up and wrote down my dream. Then I went back to sleep, attempting WILD.

      ———

      Dream #2 (Lucid):
I was in a car with my dad, him driving. I kept switching sitting positions, different sides of the car disappearing so that I could hang my arms or legs or entire body out of the vehicle. I knew it was dangerous, so I only stayed in each position for short amounts of time. When I finally settled back in the passenger seat, my dad bumped into the car in front of us and left a dent. But the car just kept driving, and I assumed they didn't care since this kind of thing happens all the time.

Later we were walking Nile (my dog), but he had no leash. My dad said he behaved well at the end of walks so it was fine, but I told him to hold his collar because there was a bunny nearby. My dad said it was a squirrel but held the collar anyway, not that it mattered because as soon as Nile spotted it he darted out of his grasp and into the woods.

"Whoops, too strong," my dad mumbled. We chased after him, and turns out it was a bunny. Nile was pretending to be a squirrel eating a nut before attacking. He killed or at least immobilized it, howling to announce his success and maybe call some other dogs to eat it with him. A bird likewise gave a call warning that a dangerous dog was in the area.

I wasn't sure if I should praise or scold him, so we just took him back to the house. My dad said he would cooperate but he didn't, and basically had to be carried the whole way (he turned into a cat whenever he was picked up).

When we got there my dad took him to the basement. For some reason there was a kitten there and Nile tried to attack it like the bunny, but my familial unit stopped him. My dad's yelling was particularly vivid. I came downstairs and it was dark, apparently we all had to sleep there except my dad. Nile was on his bed and the kitten was lying on the floor in front of him. I pet it to show him it was a friend, but it was oddly large, as big as him, and acting weirdly. Suddenly the plot changed.

Nile's bed turned into a mattress, and now a young girl (10-13) my parents had adopted was lying on it. I asked what her name was, and she said Poossy. It was an obvious euphemism and I got uncomfortable, turning my back to her. "Umm, maybe I'll call you Pooh Bear instead."

She protested but I don't think she really minded, though later when my mom called her it she seemed genuinely opposed. I don't know what happened during this time but apparently I had been in a chair avoiding my mom's gaze (drawing something?), then woke up on the floor, thinking superficially about the possibility of dreaming.

I/the dream was like, "For example, what if you were in the future and your brother's friend Ethan was there, taller than before..." and suddenly I was in my bed, my brother's old friend Cameron at the end of it. It's a bunk bed, but he was somehow tall enough for his lips to be touching my blanketed foot. I freaked out and quickly sat up, looking at the clock. The year read 2022.

"I thought this was supposed to be the future... and the friend was supposed to be Ethan..." I said in confusion. "You must be playing a prank on me. You must have switched the year."

He held up his phone to show his own year, which was also 2022. I accused him of adjusting the settings on that as well, but then I looked at the clock and saw it had changed to 2021.
"Did you see that?!" I exclaimed.

He didn't respond, and then my brother N came in, both of them staring up at me with creepy, blank expressions. At this point I was doing a ton of reality checks (finger-palm, inspect hands, nose plug) but none of them were working! They weren't giving me time either because they kept trying to climb up and I had to ward them off.

I managed to pay close attention to one nose-plug RC, but if it worked it was slight and impossible to tell for sure. I was fairly convinced that it was a dream though, and was able to ward them off with words alone (physically sending them backwards). I saw N's eyes turn green [they're brown in real life], thought it was normal but decided to insult him about it to gain power and shed some uneasiness.

"Your eyes are green, like disgusting diarrhea poop!' I shouted, and the force of my words pinned him to his bed. I repeated "disgusting diarrhea poop!" over and over, and each time it would send him down like "osuwari" does to Inuyasha. Throughout it all he kept a blank expression.

Dream control is harder than expected, huh, I thought. I still needed more confidence, so I jumped down on him and sprung up to the ceiling, trying to fly through it. The whole time I was laughing in a deliberately maniacal manner.

When I went into the ceiling my vision went dark, so I lowered back into the room. Everything was blurry and spinning now though, and the dream quickly dissolved. I could only think "oh no" before waking up at 8:30.

      ———

It was a low level of lucidity and really short, but whatever Here are some pics of the dream scenes:

    11. Ten-Second Lucid

      by , 04-23-2023 at 06:01 PM (MeiSEKAI)
FINALLY a lucidity-related dream after more than a week! Went to sleep at 11:30 as usual.

      Dream #1 (Non-Lucid):
I was swimming against an AI version of myself, not in a pool but in a flooded sidewalk-moat around my neighborhood. I think there was another AI watching us from the sidelines. AI-Me slowed down to compute something and I actually put in effort to win, swimming as hard as my tired body could and feeling the ache in my muscles.

Eventually I reached the finish line (the parking lot in front of S's house) and celebrated with a little victory dance and whooping. I was well aware that it was out of character for me. The two AI bots watched in an almost friendly manner.

Next thing I knew I was walking toward my house with S, when a ton of bees appeared in our path. I drew a chalk-shield like in The Secret of Kells to keep them out and took S in the opposite direction. But then a bunch of flying white worms appeared in our path, and this time S was scared.

I hooked them under my arm and flew away, straight through the worms, but they were whimpering and squirming and freaking out so I said, "Can you calm down? I know what I'm doing, look," and showed them a decoy worm that I was apparently using to deceive the real ones. S finally relaxed and I looked around for a safe place to hide.

We touched down at the gap between S's house and another, and I was thinking, Ah, this is where that dream tree is at, probably a safe place to be. [I've had two dreams about a magical tree in this area and I am SO MIFFED THAT I DIDN'T BECOME LUCID FROM THIS THOUGHT.]

There were a bunch of people practicing gymnastics on either side of us and it made me a little uneasy. "Why are they doing gymnastics this late at night...?" I wondered aloud, but decided to brush off the feeling and dragged S to the group on our left.

A coach came over and amiably challenged me, asking doubtfully whether I could do gymnastics or not. I played along, saying, "Of course I can, I was enrolled in gymnastics for two years when I was four years old, you know!" [I was actually around six or seven, just said four to make it sillier.] Then I turned to a girl named Avery who did swim team with me a long time ago and said, "Avery, we used to do cartwheels and handstands and stuff together on swim team, right?"

She said, "Yeah, at swim team."

"Oh yeah, 'at.'" [Even now I'm confused about which is correct...]

Then I attempted a front walkover, telling them it had been years so as to lower expectations, and fell on my butt. They praised me for getting the first part right. I pumped myself up, getting back into position and telling someone to move because "I got a good feeling about this one." But as soon as I said that the good feeling went away and I regretted it.

I managed to do a successful, albeit wobbly, front walkover and was a bit disappointed, but figured it was fine since they couldn't be expecting much anyway. They applauded me just as they did the first time and we all got along from that point forward, except for S.

While I took pictures of the group, S sulked in a corner by themselves. I'm pretty sure this was a false memory, but I had the sense that this had happened before and I had gone back in time (as I do in some of my dreams). I told S to join us and they made it in for the last couple photographs. I said to them, "I'm relieved, because in the previous timeline I was looking at these pictures and found it unfortunate that you weren't in any of them."

      ———

I actually don't know when this dream occurred because I kept waking up without writing it down, instead going over it in my head so that I would remember. This led to at least two dreams of recording it in my dream journal, and when I sat up to write it down at 8:30-ish I was annoyed that they hadn't been real.

I was mad at myself for not trying harder to perform WILD during the night, frustrated that I hadn't had a lucid dream for a while. I was still a little tired, so I decided to give it one more go. I lay down and repeated "do a reality check" over and over in my head, trying to relax my body.

Eventually some auditory hypnagogia kicked in, one of which was my brother's voice chanting along with me. My daydreams started to gain a life of their own, and I followed them, dropping the RC mantra and instead focusing on the fact that they were dreams.

      Dream #2 (Lucid Daydream+Lucid):

In one of these daydreams, a bunch of people were sitting on a bed having a meeting of some sort. I focused on one guy and could sort of feel what he was feeling, but not really.

In another, I was standing next to three or four teens and threw a rock in front of us. It changed into a boulder midair and flew into the sky. One kid had a camera and snapped a pic—I think he was a reporter of some sort.

I flew in front of his camera and boasted, "Hahaha, you know why that's possible? Because this is a dream!"

He or the maybe-nonexistent fourth kid mumbled, "And what are we supposed to do about that...?" Another said fearfully, "Is it like ChatGPT?!" [lmao] And the one farthest left asked, "Does that mean none of this matters?"

"Of course not," I assured him. "It's still part of my mind and I can come back whenever I want (once I have the ability). All my dreams are one universe and that universe is just as real to my brain as reality itself, okay?"

Then I left, thinking to myself, Perhaps DCs' eyes should turn gold once they become lucid... but then so many would have the same eye color, and what about those with naturally golden eyes? Maybe they'll be naturally lucid as well... Hmm, maybe the eyes can be either black or gold? Ah, whatever.

I climbed the trunk of a tree in front of my house, like I was just clinging onto the trunk with my legs and arms. It was at this point that I felt ready to "actively enter the dream," and focused on touching the bark with my fingers...
'lo and behold, it worked! I had successfully entered my dream body and could now see and feel the tree as if it were real life.

But I don't think my brain had properly formed the size of the trunk, because it kept changing and wobbling. I tried to adjust it, but I wasn't sure how big it should be either. [The problem was that if it was too big it would be unrealistic for me to be wrapped around it, but in real life it's a pretty big tree so I was confused.] I tried to stabilize the dream by focusing on sensations, making noises, paying attention to visuals, but I could feel it falling apart. I couldn't drop off the tree or make any sudden movements because I knew I would immediately wake up.

Soon it was like my vision split in half, and a couple seconds later the trunk turned into my blanket. I realized my eyes were open in real life.
I quickly closed them, seeing nothing but blackness. My body was numb, but I was sure I could move it if I wanted to. I tried to summon up the image of the tree again, and it kinda worked, booting up like a weird simulation, but it wasn't clear enough and I wasn't tired enough so I gave up.

Well, I'm just glad I managed to have another lucid, no matter how short it was

Here's a pic of the tree:

    12. My Previous Seven Lucid Dreams

      by , 04-17-2023 at 02:24 AM (MeiSEKAI)
      Behold! Procrastination

      Lucid #1 - Some time in 2015/2016
I was in fourth grade. At the time I was friends with a girl named K, she could be mean sometimes and I must've been mad at her when I had this dream. All I remember is we were at the neighborhood hill and I knew I was dreaming. She was running away from me, so I lifted my hand in the air, summoned up a giant cage, and trapped her in it. It's probably the most effortless and powerful dream control I've ever had.

      Lucid #2 - April 17th, 2021
What a coincidence that this took place almost exactly two years ago today! In this dream I was at a cabin-like place, and entered a room with nothing in it but a piano and a chair. A girl in overalls that looked like the normal version of Samara from The Ring was playing the piano. I was creeped out by everything.

I was about to leave, but for some reason said, "You know, this is very much like an unpleasant dream. Not a nightmare, but..."

The girl said something huffily and continued playing. I sat down on the chair and said, "I dunno... it just has such a dream vibe to it!" And at this moment I thought that it could not possibly be a dream, because everything looked and felt so solid and real, I was clear-headed and nothing was spinning... But nonetheless, I continued, "Wait a minute... is this a dream?"

The result was instantaneous. The girl suddenly turned into a doll. I thought, Oh my goodness, I'm lucid dreaming, try to control something! But it was weird. I had a sense of my real life body and was barely hanging on to the dream. Instead of controlling anything, I accidentally opened my eyes in real life.

      Lucid #3 - January 22nd, 2023
This dream started out normal, the main character was some dude in a wrecked but prosperous city. There were a bunch of AoT-like people who used wires to get around. He was one of them but apparently could just fly on his own as well, which he did after talking to some of his coworkers.

He must have become me at some point, because I recall flying in this flappy-bird way and remembering it was something that happened a lot in my dreams.
      That's when I became lucid.

I descended to the ground and entered a big throng of people heading somewhere. I was next to J and L, telling them and anyone who would listen that this was actually a dream, taking care not to get too excited and wake up. I tried to control something, but it was extremely difficult: tried and failed to telekinetically lift up a signpost, tried and failed to turn some dude's hair blond. Finally I focused on my hands and tried really hard to make a grape. It worked, but J and L were still skeptical so I made an apple. It was kinda small but still. That's all I remember so I guess I woke up after that.

      Lucids #4 and #5 - March 25th, 2023
I actually had these the very night I got back into lucid dreaming. Spent the entire day researching it obsessively, and it paid off!

I was in school, but missed 6th period because I was playing a VR game with my dog. There was an emotion-measuring device he used on me and it kept saying I was almost dead. I could physically feel my heart beating and I was laughing a lot.

In the VR my brother N fell into a toxic lake and I was like, "Dw, this is a dream, I can save him." Then I flew over the lake and telekinetically lifted him out, though it was kind of difficult.

Next thing I remember, I was in school, more lucid than before. I kept touching the ground and walls (they felt dirty) to stabilize the dream. I even went up to this girl and touched her face and talked to her, but not for long because I was worried I would talk in real life as well. She was weirded out anyway.

Then I found my friend A and asked what period it was and she said 7th. I was waiting for an opportunity to tell her it was a dream, but I was sleeping very lightly and when I moved my arm in real life, it woke me up.

But then I tried the hypnagogia-WILD technique for the first time. The visual part wasn't working, but in my head I could hear a teacher talking and before I knew it I was in the back of an unfamiliar classroom sitting next to J. I talked to her while touching everything to solidify the dream. She had a red hardcover book with a title written in white/yellow bubble letters. She was really impressed when I was able to read it, and it was somewhat difficult for me to do in the first place. I noticed the words changed soon afterwards. Same thing with a couple sentences I caught on the inside; I was really delighted.

She said that something was weird and I said, "You know why it's weird? Because it's a dream."

"How do you know?" she asked. I could tell she was a little disconcerted that I was proposing it was my dream and not hers, that she was imaginary.

"Because none of this makes sense! Whose classroom is this? Who is that teacher? Why is it so difficult for us to read the title of a book, and why does it keep changing? Sorry to break it to you, J, but this is a dream."

She seemed to grudgingly accept it. Then I got an itch in real life and woke up.

      Lucid #6 - March 26th, 2023
Yep, I had this the very next day. I was daydreaming about a white-haired writer in his thirties with three pens on his butt, and a black-haired guy in his twenties. [Don't ask me why, I must have been half asleep.] Next thing I knew, I was the writer, playing with the other guy in the snow. I was kind of lucid, trying to solidify the dream and marveling at the snow [didn't get any substantial snow this year]. But at the same time I wasn't, because the dream kept going into third person and the writer guy would start flirting with the other guy.

Eventually a teen girl came over and told us to come inside because of some disease. I then became myself, and fully lucid. We were in my house and when I looked at the mirror, there was some dust in my hair, I guess from the disease. I tried to focus on clarity and stabilization, but when I locked the door, it looked oddly blurry and my fingers were too thick. It freaked me out a little and I got dizzy. It became difficult for me to walk.

The other two had gone down a hallway I couldn't see, and I called for them to come get me, hoping their hands would solidify the dream again. They said okay but didn't come soon enough. There was writing on the walls, but I was too disoriented to read it and woke up.

      HALLOWE'EN-unnamed-3-.jpg

      Lucid #7 - March 31st, 2023
The dream started out with some hitchhiking scenario. Later on I was at school crying and screaming because my mom was accusing me of something AO3-related and my parents were stalking me. It wasn't lucid at this point. Nobody cared and after that I lied down on the hallway floor (classes were in session but I didn't care) and some girls came over and started bullying me. Eventually I got up and was walking in the hallways with J, and she said, "I hate (something something)."

I responded gloomily, "I hate myself."

She seemed to notice something was wrong and said, "Oh no, why don't you talk to K about it?" [Different K than first dream.]

"What? Why would I talk to K?"

I don't remember what she said but I was like "she can't help me nobody can, blah blah blah" and I don't know if I already was lucid or suddenly became so,
but I decided to fly away because it was a dream! J went "wow" and I flew like superman to the end of the hallway. For some reason Kel from OMORI was there. I talked to him and we climbed into this weird window/dumbbell thing.

I saw Mr. C walking around like a hawk and was worried he would see us, eventually he did but I realized I could control his reaction because this was a dream. So he wasn't angry, and even climbed in with us. While we were in there I was in pain for some reason but since it was a dream I just made it go away.

(Not sure when this happened, but at one point I was in a classroom and did the finger-palm reality check. It was difficult and didn't go all the way through, but it still confirmed I was dreaming. I then did the nose-plug RC and it felt like breathing through a stuffy nose. The dream started to fade and there was a dark vignette around my vision. I was trying really hard to stay in it, talking to J, touching stuff, and telling myself I'd still be dreaming when I "woke up." I don't remember what happened, but back to the main story.)

Eventually I got bored of Kel and Mr. C and went to some building, reflecting on my choices up till now. I climbed some brown petticoats to the top, a loft-church hybrid area. I think it was here that I looked around and was truly amazed at how real and solid everything looked. I did the finger-palm RC again, same result. Then I did the nose-plug reality check, same result. Finally I tried to phase through a window, but it didn't work.

I pressed my hands to it and really tried to expect to go through, but it still wasn't working, so I said aloud, "Please help me, dream." The windowpane started getting warm and ripple-y but I still didn't go through.

Now I was surprised that I still hadn't woken up yet, so I left to find a mirror. (It was the only one of my goals to occur to me.) The dream went into third person and it looked sort of like an RPG videogame as I walked up to a mirror (still in a church-like area; I was walking down a red carpet). I ignored the old lady beside it because I felt like I should hurry just in case I was close to waking up. Then it switched to first person again and I looked in the mirror.

When I researched LDs I had been avoiding posts that said mirrors were taboo/scary because I didn't want my subconscious to internalize that, but when I was watching a YouTube vid some guy said that in a lucid dream mirror, you'd see the version of you that you want to become. So I guess if anything, I was expecting that. But when I looked, the reflection just showed my normal self... or so I thought in the dream. I realize now that it was not normal at all.

My hair was long, and I was wearing a stiff, purple, cape-like cardigan. My hands were on my hips and my chest was puffed out. I looked more like an anime-superhero than anything else. I even had a line-smile like this: V.

Anyway, as I was looking, my reflection suddenly split in two (as in there were two of me in the mirror). In the middle of them appeared another me, but a more disturbing one, though I don't remember how exactly. The disturbing me's multiplied until they were filling the mirror and maybe spilling out; I could only really see the tops of their heads. A bright white light drenched them and flew by like a train, and an unsettling sound accompanied it. I had to turn away and I think I woke up soon after, because I don't remember anything after that.

    13. My First Ever False Awakening!

      by , 04-15-2023 at 12:43 AM (MeiSEKAI)
A LOT happened last night. I went to sleep at my normal time, 11:30. This time my goal was to do an RC in my dream. Did MILD (poorly) till I drifted off.

      Dream #1 (Non-Lucid):
First thing I can remember is me walking up the sidewalk in my neighborhood, thinking about how calling someone could potentially result in a bomb being dropped nearby. (Before this point multiple bombs had already been dropped but I can't remember any specifics, might've even been a false memory.) I came to a stop at a place where I could look down at the grassy area between two rows of houses, and a line of trees/bushes 25 feet in. I called J for some reason, with a feeling (though not a hope) that a bomb would drop on the pool about a mile away... and it did.

The explosion was vivid, albeit unrealistic. I saw the mushroom cloud billow up and felt the vibrations in the air and under my feet, and the wind was especially tangible. I ducked between two cars as it blew against me, still holding my phone, with a tinge of uneasiness. I thought, "These bombs are interesting once in a while, but only once in a while... Then again, if I selfishly enjoy even them even once, perhaps I should accept them happening all the time with no complaints... but no, why should it be that way? I'll want what I want, when I want!" It was quite a realistic thought process.

(A note: I'm pretty sure this same explosion actually happened earlier in a slightly different way, with me behind rather than between the cars, but my subconscious rewinded and edited it. That happens fairly often in my dreams.)

The wind kept coming, and suddenly it really picked up, stronger than all the previous bombs. I held onto the car handles to support myself and move forward while listening to the cars on the highway smash into each other, to the sound of screeching metal. I was only thinking vaguely about how weirdly easy it was for me and the cars near me to stay still in comparison.

Then for some reason all the highway cars appeared in the line of trees in front of me, except one totally wrecked and empty one which was much closer to me on the grass. Tons of people spilled out and were fleeing into the woods, and that's when J and her twin sister L appeared. I told them enthusiastically what happened ("The wind was so strong it pushed the cars and I could hear the collisions!"), not mentioning that I was the cause of it. L almost interrupted me once but I spoke over her.

J was like "wow" and I'm a little confused about this part, but apparently only parents were able to flee by going through the line of cars into the woods... kids weren't allowed? We hopped through the empty car anyway but nothing happened.

Anyway, L was apparently a graphic artist in this dream and had to go somewhere to draw. J and I went with, to a random and dark parking lot, and I brought along my own drawing tablet. I had to remember how to use it and did so by accessing real-life memories of it in my room and of plugging it into a computer. Not sure what happened during this time but L eventually turned into S and we were making a story together, drawing the two main characters. She drew a teen girl in a somewhat grainy and realistic art style that vaguely resembled Tinkerbell. I was probably drawing the other character, a man in his twenties. In the story, they were both prisoners helping each other escape. I remember specifically that the girl escaped first and was going to break his restraints so they could leave together, although they didn't know each other well and he was kind of a gruff and unfriendly guy.

S held up their drawing and said that they liked the sketch, so they weren't going to pay anyone for a better version. (I'll just include this here: I think some time in this dream I was at S's house and their dad was speaking condescendingly to me, but I have no idea when this occurred.)

Then some stuff happened that I don't remember, all I know is that I was acting like a baby (pouting and whining), so J treated me like one (but not meanly). We went to a gas station, I think to buy some build-it-yourself Japanese-speaking machine, though I don't remember what for. In addition I bought some Cow Tales, permanently-locked measuring tape, and small, blue-wrapped candies, wanting to spend the little money I had for whatever reason. (This definitely also happened before in a slightly different way and was rewinded by my subconscious. I think the first time I got functional measuring tape.) I remember walking to the cash register, but I don't remember paying.

Next scene I can recall is being in a large room with a wooden floor, sitting on a bench/bed with my dad. I think there were a few other people in the background as well, and the permanently-locked measuring tape was on the bench-bed. It had a green sticker warning people not to unlock it, with an X'd out image of the down-arrow safety lock and the number 4. I figured that meant you had to move the safety lock downward four times to unlock it. I went "Hmm" and decided to try it. I asked my dad what would happen while I did so, not believing it could be too bad or dangerous—after all, it was a company, they couldn't sell stuff like that!

It snapped open before he answered, and small circular serrated blades (like shuriken) burst out in all directions. I jumped off the bench and subconsciously prevented myself from being stabbed right away because it would mess up the plot. For the same reason, my dad did not get injured, even though he was right next to it. I was supposed to be the sole target, he was supposed to watch. I was somewhat aware of this choice... even thinking something like "(dream) logic" in the back of my mind. (And AGAIN, something similar happened earlier in the dream but I subconsciously erased it—maybe it was too difficult and I got hit by the blades.)

Belatedly answering my question, my dad calmly said, "A bunch of blades would pop out." Well gee, thanks, Father. I can see that.

I slumped on the floor to dodge the blades, but they kept spinning around in somewhat predictable patterns. I was stuck in the corner of the room dodging them, not able to move properly due to fear. It was scary and quite vivid; so was my hyperventilating (which was intentional but also not) when I finally managed to get away. My dad said unsympathetically, "That's how bugs feel every day." I briefly imagined it; the atoms and minuscule organisms in the air dodging my legs as I ran. Then I woke up.

      ———

It was 3:40 or so when I woke up and at first I did not remember anything except the very last scene of the dream, and even that was fading. But somehow I managed to focus and backtrack all the way back to where I started the entry. I didn't finish writing till 4:34, then I lay down and attempted WILD, repeating "reality check, reality check" in my head. It didn't take as long as a couple days ago but it did take a while before I finally fell back asleep.

      ———

      Dream #2 (Non-Lucid):
This dream may not have been lucid but it sure was interesting. I started out sitting up in my bed, looking down at a giant yellow slug-caterpillar thing on the mattress. I whimpered and flipped it over, trying to push it off, but I didn't push hard enough. Then I thought, "Wait, this is probably just a hypnopompic hallucination!" and stared at it till it went away.

But now I was curious, and tried to take advantage of my supposedly sleepy state. I stared at my sheets and tried to visualize chicken nuggets. At first they showed up as those blob-lights you sometimes see when you close your eyes, but I focused on one until it cleared up and was a real chicken nugget.

Tentatively, I picked it up, fascinated that I could really feel it. (I was briefly reminded of Koomer and Oguigi from my tulpa phases.) Slowly I lifted it to my mouth and bit down, and it tasted so real! A bit on the watery side but whatever. I thought, "I have to tell J about this" and was imagining it, then I think I woke up briefly before entering another dream.

      Dream #3 (Lucid):
This time I was in the bathroom washing my hands, but the faucet was weird. When I turned the hot water on, the water would stop running altogether, and I could bend the knob all the way backwards. It freaked me out a little to be honest and the possibility of dreaming popped into my head.

I thought "No way" but did a nose-plug RC anyway, and
there it was—that explosion of air like in my semi-lucid a few days ago! I couldn't believe it and stumbled backward in shock. My reflection disappeared and the mint-green walls seemed strangely oppressive and unsettling. I tried to get a hold of myself, crouching down and rubbing my hands together, but it was too late. I woke up.

...Except I didn't, because it was a false awakening! My first one EVER! I don't know why—I always forget to RC in the morning—but as I was listening to the sound of my dad opening the shower door in the bathroom, something must have tipped me off because I plugged my nose and breathed. And I could breathe! Normally! It didn't feel stuffy or explosive! I was so amazed I did it twice, then sat up, grinning and feeling my sheets on my skin. It actually felt a little oversensitive, like when you're sick and your nerves are fried.

I climbed down from my bed (it's a bunk bed) and saw my youngest brother sleeping on the floor, though I didn't think much of it. I remembered my steps but only briefly checked for false memories, skipped RC because I already did it, then whisper-asked for my dream guide to come through the door. (Whispering because it was dark and quiet in the room.) Nothing happened so I asked again, thinking that my expectations were not high enough.

While I waited, I turned my attention to the Miku poster on the door. There was no coat rack like in real life and it was taking up the entirety of the door, maybe the doorframe too. The art looked different, better than in real life, and I leaned closer, saying aloud, "Miku is really beautiful, huh." [I know I'm a trashy weeb okay? ]

But then I remembered a DJ post (by Nerefa) that I read yesterday, about dream faces not being as realistic as they seemed, only as much as your waking-life awareness. I wondered if she would actually look ugly upon closer inspection, and when I peered into her face it turned derpy. I assumed it was just because I was expecting it rather than my real-life awareness being that bad, and I must have sensed myself waking up because I was thinking, "Maybe if I had stayed focused on the dream guide this wouldn't have happened..."
And then I woke up, for real this time, at 5:55.

      Dream #4 (Lucid; Fragment):
Okay so this happened before I woke up, but I don't know where it fits in relation to everything else. I was mentally explaining to someone (possibly myself, or imagining telling someone in the future) that my DJ was occasionally censored when a topic like suicide or self-harm came up because I didn't want people snooping and seeing that. I said that I sometimes couldn't remember these scenes properly even when I read them again, because I was so vague in my DJ.

Eventually I was in my bed looking at a (false) entry with a self-harm scene, but my dream journal was all cut up. The part mentioning SH was cut in a way that the word "WHAT?" was spelled out. So someone had seen this entry, understood it despite my censorship and vagueness, and was concerned.

I had been exposed and obviously felt dread and shock, but at the same time remembered that I have a lot of dreams of being exposed by people in real life. Maybe it was because I desperately wanted to deny the situation, but I was sure that it was a dream. I said aloud, "No, this isn't real. It's a dream, it must be."

      Then I think I performed a successful nose-plug RC, and that's all I remember.

      ———

Well, that took a while. But now my lucid count is up to 10! Here are some quick sketches of the dream scenes:

    14. Attempting WILD Within a Dream

      by , 04-12-2023 at 10:59 PM (MeiSEKAI)
Okay sooo yesterday I saw that April 12th was National Lucid Dreaming day and wanted to do something special. But I don't know anyone here well enough to attend a party with them in a dream (like I saw people doing on the forum post), so I tried to wrap my friend J into it. I told her to meet up with me in a dream at either her house or the elementary school nearby. I don't thin I really believe in shared dreaming but I was curious what would happen.

I went to sleep at 11:30, using MILD to imagine the scenario. Woke up at 3:50, had a very vague idea of a dream but didn't write anything down. Instead I closed my eyes, kinda trying to do WILD, repeating over and over in my head, "J's house, J's house..." and fell back asleep within minutes.

      Dream #1 (Regular):
Next thing I knew I was sitting up in my bed and the lights were on. I was watching a 3DMV Project Sekai song featuring Mafuyu and Mizuki, focusing more on their voices than the models. Their singing was quite vivid, at first I mixed up their voices but soon was able to identify them. Mafuyu's was less soft than usual and vibrating quite a bit, while Mizuki's was deeper than usual. I thought they didn't sound as good as they normally do but oh well.

My mom came into the room and startled me (my door was on the left instead of the right for some reason). She was wearing a pink wig and a Lolita dress though I didn't notice this in the dream. She was concerned and a bit annoyed by my scared reaction but eventually must have left because next thing I knew I was trying to do WILD to meet up with J in a dream, only for her to come in again and interrupt me! She started talking to me about something unimportant and I was like, "Can we talk about this later, I'm trying to meet up with J in a dream right now." She didn't really get it but eventually left me alone.

I tried again, and this time some very intense auditory hypnagogic hallucinations kicked in right away. [It's worth noting that auditory HI is the main type I get, I even entered a lucid dream from it one time.] I could vividly hear in my head the hustle and bustle of a mall, a food court it seemed like, and voices talking behind me, that of a small child standing out. I even felt sleep paralysis setting in which excited me because I knew that meant I was close to sleep. (I also felt my face sink into my arm which bothered me, but I wasn't going to risk moving.) I hoped I would find myself in a mall when I drifted off, and then I'd go to J's house to meet up with her.

Well, wouldn't you know it, when I opened my eyes, I was in a mall! Not a food court—I was lying down on some pool chair in front of an internal balcony—but still! Was I lucid though? No! Somehow I thought I had been attempting WILD in the mall and had stopped because a blond lady interrupted me before I fell asleep. She somewhat resembled my IB ESS teacher Mrs. B and was next to my chair, fiddling with something on a stand next to me.

"My gosh!" I exclaimed in an exasperated yet excited tone. "I was so close just now, I had super loud hypnagogic hallucinations, I even got sleep paralysis for the first time- well, I noticed it for the first time."

The blond lady had an abnormally large, gap-toothed smile and said something about never having experienced sleep paralysis either. There was an ant crawling out the side of her mouth onto her cheek and I stared at it but didn't say anything. She lifted her hand to her face and I don't know if she picked it up or if it just fell onto her hand, but it ended up in her palm somehow and transformed into an amalgam of a bee and a cockroach. I am terrified of bees in real life and it was only now that I got a little freaked out, pointing at it as if she weren't aware of it. She tossed it in my general direction and I immediately woke up.

      ———

When I opened my eyes I had the sense that the beeroach was somewhere on my sheets and had a hypnopompic hallucination for the first time in years. I used to have them occasionally when I was younger and had a nightmare... for some reason they only seemed to happen when I had a bug nightmare. I don't consider this a nightmare but I saw a giant, brown, wispy ant crawling on the sheets in front of me nonetheless. I was a tiny bit afraid but knew it wasn't real. I closed my eyes until I knew it would be gone, then wrote down my dream.

Funny thing is it was around 4:15 when I woke up, so I was only sleeping for about 20 minutes. When I finished writing down my dream it was 4:40 and I tried to sleep again even though I felt pretty alert... it took me an hour before I did. I know because I heard my mom getting ready for work downstairs, which she starts doing at 5:30-ish. During that time I was attempting SSILD but forgot what you're supposed to do after going through the cycles [turns out it's just "try to fall asleep"...], so as a last ditch-effort I tried WILD again, repeating "J's house, J's house" in my head and imagining us meeting up. Before I knew it, I was in a dream!

      ———

      Dream #2 (Regular):
I was in fact in J's house, though I wasn't lucid. Visually it was a mix of my house, J's house, another friend's house, and some random house, but functionally it was just J's house.

I entered a dark room and found J's twin sister L lying down on a mattress, a TV in front of her. She had "HELP ME" scrawled in blue ink all over her left arm and I (falsely) remembered J telling me that she'd done it because she was stressed out about the upcoming exams. On the TV was a video made by some History YouTuber. He was answering whether he was a pessimist or an optimist and said something along the lines of, "Well objectively from my content I may seem like a pessimist, but the answer's a bit more complicated if you take a deeper look into my complex psyche!"

I sat on the mattress behind her and watched as the camera flipped up to the ceiling and a woman sobbing could be heard, as well as a screaming child in the background. I was very confused why he would upload his personal life on YouTube, wondering if he was abusive, or if she was abusive, or if she was being dramatic and scaring the kid, or if it was all some twist that he would clear up at the end. I never found out though because I left the room. I started to close the door but L didn't want me to, and besides the mattress was in the way.

I was now walking through the living room and picked up a gray frog stuffed animal, which I think was S's (another friend), then threw it back on the floor. In the dream it was around 5:30 and I assumed my mom must have left for work because she wasn't there (I don't know why she would be at J's house anyway but whatever), and wondered where J&L's mom was. At this point I "remembered" a part of some dream and wanted to write it down, but my dream journal was upstairs so I decided to do it later. I also knew J was upstairs and thought about waking her up but knew she'd be mad.

So instead I enjoyed being the only one up in an empty and quiet house in the early hours of the morning. I skipped into the kitchen area... and suddenly found it impossible to keep moving. I fell forward and immediately woke up.

      ———

Here are some quick sketches of the dream scenes:
      Knowledge Base?-unnamed-1-.jpg

It was 6:03 when I woke up so again, I couldn't have been asleep for very long. These dreams were more vivid than usual, maybe because they were so short, or because I was trying so hard to meet up with J. If you're wondering, J did not recall any dreams in the morning so I guess we can say the reason I never got to see her is because she didn't keep up her end of the deal

P.S. I know I said a couple days ago that I wouldn't include my semi-lucid dream in my LD count, but I change my mind. The lucidity level was very low, even my awareness level was lower than in these dreams, but it was a lucid dream nonetheless so I will go back on my word and add it (I love that emoji.)

    15. A Gross Regular Dream and a Semi-Lucid

      by , 04-10-2023 at 04:01 PM (MeiSEKAI)
I'm only gonna record nights with lucidity-related dreams here, and this is my first one since creating this account

      Dream #1 (Regular):
*Warning: Poop and vomit involved, very gross.

The first thing I remember is flushing the toilet after taking a dump. Of course, it flooded. I moved my bookmark and my brother's clothes out of the way just in time, while the toilet kept asking me questions like "What're you gonna do about this? You saved the bookmark, but what about the poop? You have to clean that up too." I thought it was strange but weirdly comforting that it was speaking to me.

For some stupid reason after I was done cleaning up the mess I flushed the toilet again. It overflowed again and this time there was even more poop on the ground. I cleaned it up but was extremely disgusted, thinking that I'd have to tell my brothers NOT to flush the toilet ever again unless they were absolutely sure it wouldn't overflow.

By the time I was done I was so disgusted I actually threw up a little, which I was surprised by because I've never thrown up from emotional disgust. I thought, "I need to clean up my Invisalign." I looked in the mirror and my reflection was oddly realistic; my expression could only be described as "out of it." I think I was waking up because I started thinking about dreams and how this was the "perfect practice for becoming lucid"?

I definitely had another dream before this one and kept getting flashes to it while writing it down, but couldn't hold on to them. It was 4:40 a.m. when I finished, so I went back to sleep. Tried to do WILD but I must have gotten distracted and fallen asleep.

      Dream #2 (Semi-Lucid):
I then had what was probably a dream about a lucid dream. I was in my house, not sure exactly where, and for some reason "knew" I was dreaming. I went through the steps I'd memorized: first, check for false memories. I said aloud, "I'm [real name], born 2006, 11th grade" and remembered what my room looked like, but as I was doing this my vision went dark so I tried to stabilize the dream by touching stuff... except I don't even know what I was touching.

Then I went outside, though I don't remember walking through the house or opening the door, or what sidewalk I was walking on. I do remember there was a sakura tree nearby. I was reciting my goals: "[something something], dream guide, yes, I wanted to find a dream guide tonight, oh but first I'mma do a reality check."

I plugged my nose and tried to breathe, expecting it to be like breathing through a stuffy nose like my last lucid dream, but instead after a few seconds of nothing happening it felt like an explosion of air went off in the bridge of my nose and forehead.

"Ugh," I said, "I hate doing that." For some reason there was a narrator in my head agreeing with me and I asked him, "You think that could possibly wake me up?"

"A few reflections never woke anyone up," he assured me. [He said this because the explosion had somehow reminded me of mirrors.]

I was going to do another reality check but felt my armpit itching in real life, and after a brief internal struggle moved to scratch it, which woke me up. I think there was another dream before this one as well but I remember it even less. The reason I say it was a dream about a lucid dream rather than a real one is because my awareness was so low; I didn't notice anything strange and it felt like I was simply reciting steps, even after the reality check... but I guess props to me for remembering the steps at all. I won't add it to my LD count though
