Cities in the Astral

09-10-13 This dream was very vivid, but the non-lucid part went on way too long. I normally am semi-lucid in all of my dreams (part of me knowing it is only a dream), but in the start of this one I was 100% fooled and non-lucid. I also suffered great anxiety and discomfort in the dream, which would clearly make it a bad dream. I have had very few bad dreams for perhaps the last decade. I suppose being semi-lucid has prevented them, but this was a bad dream at first.

The theme is based on a pain I have IRL in my lower back. In the dream I knew I had been diagnosed with a fatal cancer that was the source of pain (not IRL). I think about twenty minutes of scenes went buy full of great anxiety. I even failed to become lucid at two points that normally would have made me fully lucid. In one scene someone wanted details about when I saw the doctor. I could not remember having seen the doctor, I just knew that I had. In the other I was in the front seat of a truck with two unfamiliar DCs and could not think straight or understand their questions. I was seeing weird distortions in my visual field just like being very stoned on LSD. I concluded that I must have taken LSD and was now too high to remember it.

The people took me to some location where a crowd dressed me in a hazmat suit and tried to explain I was to get into a radioactive space ship that had crashed and to retrieve some radioactive part. The radiation would likely kill anyone exposed for more than a few minutes, but as I was going to die anyways…….

I became lucid at this point. I mean finally it was just too much. Radioactive spaceship? Ok it is a dream, what now? Well why not check out a space ship, I certainly can not get radiation poisoning from a dream. The ship was at an angle down in a ditch or on an embankment and inside was cluttered and small. I could tell I was supposed to crawl in and retrieve something, but that did not sound fun so I went back up. A decontamination unit was waiting, but as it was a dream, why bother? People started running a freaking out that I walked past the unit, yelling I was going to kill everyone. I needlessly touched a few people just to see them freak out. After that I looked around for perhaps 2 minutes and then woke up.
