Well like a lot of people suggested, closing my eyes and imagining a new place always seems to work pretty well for me.

The void thing is interesting. The only time I had a black dream, I wasn't just missing sight. I had absolutely no senses at all. It was like I was dreaming that I didn't have a body or something.

Thinking of that though, why not try to erase the dream scene around you to be in the white room? Force everything to disappear until you are in empty white space and then start building things around you. As you build more and more things consciously things should start popping up faster and faster unconsciously until you have a whole world. Or at least you can hope that's what happens.

I accept that my reality is always a dream so if something changes I know I'm right.

A couple of nights ago, I put my hands on the floor of a boring recurrent dreamscape, then I pushed down. I saw some flames and ended inside a narrow cavern. I had to crawl a little before reaching this wonderful place I love to visit.

There are lots of ways you can do it. Sometimes I will use tunnel vision, zoom in so all I see is a close up of one thing related to where I want to go, focusing on that thing as I zoom back out and it usually does the trick. More or less.

You have to get yourself to realize that you are in a full dream state. Most of the time when you change the scene of a dream you have the chance of loosing its lucidly. Try to imaging a scene that is not in any way similar to where you have been before.

Practice. Keep a dream journal to help you keep track of your dreams. This will help you notice when you are in a dream opposed to reality. Also this will increase the frequency of your lucid dreams.

Try searching on Google for ways to keep a lucid dream, and for ways that will make them come more frequently.

The way that I change my dream scene is I go through doors. You just expect a door to be around the corner or behind you, and it will appear. And you have to think that it will take you to some new place or some place you desire. The trick is you have to really believe this. Think to yourself "there is a door around the corner that will take me to the beach." And really believe that. It becomes easy once you get used to it.

I'm also a fan of the "catch a buss" technique - look for a bus stop and wait for the one that takes you where you want to go.
Like to take the Nš 315, which in real life takes me to the downtown party district in my city. Don't know about you, but I have a hard time projecting fictional fantastical locations. At this point I've settled for places that I know well in real life, from memory and rely on more conventional methods of getting from point A to B - this approach also seems to make the dreams more stable (from my experience at least).

Whenever I want to change areas I either fall backwards through the floor or wake myself up with the intention of DEILDing. The latter almost always leads to some really cool stuff. If things always just black out when you try changing areas, just prepare yourself to stay still for when you wake up. Or, you can try and yell at the blackness to expel it and stay in the dream. That worked for me, once.
