Why not blow them up

An engineer once told me that if a gun doesn't work, try using more gun.

I suppose you could try imagining the target being hit as well in addition to actually firing the gun.

That is it in part. You must control the result also. Say you shoot, now you must know a hope will tear the DC open and that it will get knocked back. Just needing a little more finesse in you control. Doing good so far.

I'm going to tell you what i tell alot of people. It's about expecting, not wanting. so you may want to build up some expectations before you do things.

Do you feel like you can't rely on anyone? It could be your subconscious turning that feeling into symbols. At least that's what my mom told me when I told her I had the same issue with guns. I'm pointing a sniper rifle at a bunch of zombies climbing up to my perch in a warehouse. I pull the trigger and nothing. Yeah, guns definitely fall short in dreams.
I personally prefer using swords in dreams. I can always rely on them protecting me.

Yeah I seem to be having trouble expecting the gun to work, because I usually manifest the gun, rather than find it. I think I have trouble believing a manifested gun will work for some reason. Maybe I'll try manifesting an RPG from now on.

ccolby: I think its more to do with me doubting my own abilities. I used to have the same problem with fighting in non lucid dreams, its only when I became confident of my fighting abilty in real life, that I became good at it in dreams.

You may imagined that it wont work because you havent used guns in real life. Think you are in a video game. It works for me

People have already chimed in, but I want to reinforce. The reason that you cannot shoot people is because you think you can't. KNOW that you can. Expect it to happen and it will.

I used to have the same issue, it's that thought in the back of your head saying "what if this doesn't work?"
You must KNOW that it will work. Force yourself to see the bullet leaving the gun and impacting the target and the damage it does, through your expectation that it will happen. It can be difficult at first but after a while you will no longer have to put the effort into it and it will just work.

I have the same issue. I cannot kill DC's, i guess because i don't know what is like to kill someone. But you know what? It happened to me the other way too.

4 DC's were trying to kill me. I fired at them and nothing happened. I was pissed, because this happens all the time. So, i said to them:
-"Ok, you want to kill me? Just try it!"
I grabbed a DC's hand, had his gun on my head and told him to shoot. He shot and... i felt nothing. I guess because i don't know what is like to be killed.

Did you put real dream bullets in that real dream gun, or was the gun simply handed to you "loaded"? When lucid I always make an excuse as to why something doesn't work and fix it with something illogical. If a gun doesn't work, try reloading it, or saying that it was just a blank and the next one will work.

I don't think I've been shot in a dream just shot at...maybe my DCs have bad aim. But I was fatally stabbed once in a non lucid while fighting, not cool. Took a combat knife to the armpit and into the heart by one DC as I was trying to fight off his buddy.

oh dream characters and their revenge and their bad aims.

Use any method of mine you wish to, I wish good LDing to all and good control. If it can be done by my tech, then I would love it!

That's the best thing about this place, you can THINK you tried everything and then someone else will have that one magical idea you never thought of! Sometimes it's so simple I want to beat my head on the wall for not thinking of it myself.

I agree. Go withit and redirect it. It is like the Aikido of dream control. If something is not happening right, create an excuss that allows an easy fix.

One time I tried manifesting a gun behind my back. I pointed it. Oh wait! It's a toy gun!(Dream Characters start laughing at me)

Since Lucid dreaming is a relatively new sport for those of us not from Tibet, I wonder if we need to think about the ramifications of our actions in LDs.
My hypothetical question is: If DC's are parts of our own personality and we manage to kill them all in our dreams, will we have a personality when we wake up?

I've fired guns and killed people in non lucid dreams. Been shot, too. A kind of paste, like donut filling, comes out instead of blood, ha. And it hurts.

I spawned an M4 once in an LD but never tried to fire it. It felt very real, though.

Well, "killing" and "death" aren't exactly things we are very comfortable with so I suppose it could be that your morals and values simply won't let you??
