      Arrow Dream recall dying!

So. My dream recall has been getting great over the past few days. I had a lucid dream on my third day of trying (even though it was only 3 seconds )

But lately, I've been having little tiny dream fragments, or even nothing at all. So I don't know what happened and I guess I and kind of freaking out now.

So I don't know why I'm posting this, maybe to see if y'all have had similar experiences, and how you fixed it, or if this is normal, or whatever.

      Sweet dreams.

Dream recall can fluctuate like anything else in life. There are a number of variables almost everyone can track (stress, time spent sleeping, etc) that will impact recall and/or the actual number of dreams you have. I am not getting into years of tracking the number of dreams I have on a given night and, even beyond these variables, there are times when I average 2-3 dreams or fragments per night and other times where I average around 8.

If this is just a few days (or even a few weeks) I would not sweat it. If you are year-over-year seeing your numbers drop, then maybe ask yourself what you are doing wrong.

Don't freak out. Your enthusiasm is good, though - hang in there!

Alright, thanks. I thought I was losing my dream recall for some reason.

Nope, your dream recall is not dying, perhaps a better term is waning, like a lunar phase? I wish you a waxing dream recall shortly.

Yeah, like people have said, sometimes dream recall gets affected by various things. Were there any major change in your life when it dropped, especially sleeping-wise? It might be the cause, but either way, thing positive and keep up dream journaling, dream recall will be back soon.

Your recall isn't really in your control so it's nothing to freak out about.

However what you can do is to observe the things that are in your control such as your bedtimes, the way you fall asleep or just how stressed you might be feeling.
Also observe the way you wake up before recalling your dreams. I used to go to bed early, sleep at regular times but then I had an alarm clock that I snoozed with and that little waking time between the awakening and the snooze made me forget everything that I had dreamt.

So experiment and see if you notice any difference and also think about what you might have changed.

I am going through dying recall as well at the moment and was about to post something similar. Then I saw this thread and many more, who struggle with just the same thing and I got satisfying answers already, seems to be nothing to worry about.

I would like to add one thing: maybe the recall is dying because of trying too hard. In my case this could be true for the past week (thanks to joining DV - so much tryharding ), so maybe I should give it a break and trust that it will come naturally like it has in the past.

I'm having exactly the same recall issues right now too. It's very demoralising as dream recall is such a fundamentally important part of the whole lucid dreaming process.

My memory in general is no way near as good as it was when I was younger - especially my dream recall which used to be incredibly good. I just took it for granted as I didn't know any different. What really worries me is my grandmother had Alzheimer's and I fear I may get it one day too.
