Lesson 5: Applying Dream Control - Shape Shifting and Teleportation

Welcome to Dream Control+, lesson 5!

I apologize for the delay of this lesson's release. I have been pretty busy this week. Anyway, here it goes....

      Shape-shifting/Transforming:

Quite a few of you guys/gals have said you wished to shape shift/transform in your lucid dreams. I have shape shifted several times, so hopefully I will be able to help you out.

      Shape Shifting with Passive Control
In my first shape shifting experience, I transformed myself into a werewolf. I had noticed a full moon in the dream world and the thought crossed my mind. At first I simply tried to will myself into transforming, but it didn't do much at all. I thought to myself, "Well, in movies what happens when someone transforms into a werewolf." I then decided to get my acting going.

I looked up at the full moon and acted as if I was in some crappy horror film. I snarled my teeth and let out a growl as I tensed up my body. I clutched my stomach as if the transformation was painful. I dropped to my knees, curled my hands as if they claws and let out a bellowing howl. To my surprise, the howl sounded exactly like a wolf. I looked down at my arms and noticed I had claws, but they still looked relatively human. I then clenched my fists tight and forced hair to grow out of my arms ( I imagined it as it started growing). I knew that I had successfully transformed into a werewolf. I could just feel it.

This concept can be used when transforming into anything. If you have saw the transformation in some form of media, try and copy/mimic the scene. If you haven't. simply imagine how the transformation would play out and go for it. Many dreamers will try and look into a mirror to see if they have transformed correctly, but keep in mind, mirrors do not work the same in dreams as they do in waking life. In the dream state, what you see in a mirror isn't necessarily what you actually look like. Actually, it rarely shows a proper reflection. Go by feeling with your transformations. If you feel like a Wookie, then go about your dream acting like a Wookie. The longer you play the part, the better and more detailed the transformation will get.

Use your DCs. In the same manner that you would retrieve an object from a DC, you can manipulate him/her into transforming you. Simply walk up to the nearest DC and say, "Ok Joe, it is time. I'm ready for you to transform me into a wrinkly grandma!" Like before, try not to give your DCs an out. Act like you know them, expect them to assist you, and really sale your acting job.

      Shape Shifting with Active Control
Use your hands to manipulate/mold yourself into whatever it is you are trying to transform into. You can start by transforming your arms. If you wish to have wings, feel around on your shoulder blades for the tip of the wing. Once you find it, simply pull the wings out of your back. This can be done for multiple limbs as well.

Now, I said earlier that mirrors can be deceiving when you are shape shifting, but they can also be useful. One option is, find your reflection and use your hands to mold it into your desired transformation. You can manipulate this reflection or you can simply ask/command it to transform. Once this process is complete, press your body up against the mirror and become one with your reflection. Try to absorb it into you and complete the transformation.

Using a similar creature/object can also help with transforming. Lets say you wished to transform into a wolf. You could search around for either an actual wolf/dog/etc or an object/statue/figurine of a wolf/dog/etc. You then just stare at it and imagine yourself becoming one with whatever you are looking at. Now, you can either use this to help transform your body into the desired appearance, or you can possess the object/creature you are staring at. Both will result in the desired transformation.

Once you have transformed into a particular "thing" several times, it will become easier for you. With practice, you should be able to transform into that particular "thing" at will. Like everything else, this just takes some practice and experience. Stay confident, expect to succeed, and don't become discouraged by failures.

      Teleporting/Relocation/Scene Changing

      Dream Spinning
A dream spin is where you star spinning around in-place. You know, like you used to do when you were a kid. What this does, is it massively distorts your vision. Once you stop spinning, the blurred vision clears up and reconstructs a dream scene in front of you. Try to imagine the desirable scene as you are spinning. Instead of just hoping for success, try to see the blurred visuals of the scene you hope to create. In other words, as you spin in circles, look out into the distorted scene and search for signs of your new scene. For example, if you are in a city and want to change the scene into a forest, spin until you start seeing a lot of green blurs. As you are spinning, image those blurs/distortions becoming green. Once they do, slow your spin down to a stop while envisioning your scene.

Tip: If you are still having trouble, you can try this. Once you get the blurred visuals of your scene, try to perform a jumping stop into the scene.

      Creating Portals
Most dreamers who struggle creating portals because they don't get some sort of visual confirmation. Always keep in mind that the dream world does not work the same as waking life. If you try to create a portal and there is nothing there, it doesn't mean you failed. You may have simply created an invisible portal, so be sure to test it after your attempt.

      - Drawing technique. Simply take your hand/finger and draw a large circle in the air, on the side of an object, etc. Now, jump through that circle you drew whether it be invisible or not and get ready to end up somewhere else.

      - Waving hand technique. Hold your arm out in front of you and begin to slowly wave your hand up and down. Start to gradually pick up speed in your wave and try to distort the space around your hand. Once you have created your distortion, jump through your portal.

      - Rip it open. Take both hands, hold them out in front of you, and try to rip open the air. You are basically ripping open a gash in your dream scene that you can climb through and travel to another location.

      - Use your DCs. Use some passive control to get a DC to open a portal for you. Walk up to a random DC and say, "The password is, 'Fruit Bubbles.' I need a portal that goes to Disney World. Watch carefully as the DC opens the portal and try to learn how to do it yourself.

      Flying to a Desired Location
Simply fly around your environment and look for your desired scene. This is probably one of the easiest ways to change the scene for beginners. Here is an excerpt from my first lesson concerning the matter...

"Lets say you want to go to a beach. Why not take flight and simply fly there. Just because it looks like you aren't anywhere close to a beach doesn't mean you aren't. In the dream world, a beach could be on top of a mountain, on top of the clouds, right down the street, or behind the nearest door. Always remember that this is not the real world. It is not bound by the common rules of waking life. If you ever need reminding of this, tell yourself, "This is my world...and my world is different!"

      Direct Teleportation
This is basically, just flashing/teleporting to a new scene at will. This can be difficult to achieve without practice. The best way to practice this, is by performing mini-teleportations. Pick out a spot around in, focus on that spot and attempt to instantly transport yourself there. Take one hard step and try to just appear in this area. Start out by choosing a spot around 10 meters ahead of you. This technique is known as the "Flash Step." Practice performing this and once you get the hang of it, try to imagine a completely different scene when you take your hard step. Imagine a particular spot in that scene just like before. Take your hard flash step and attempt to transport yourself in that scene.

Use What the Dream Environment Gives You
Get creative and improvise. You can use all sorts of things to help change the scene. A lot of dreamers state that their dreams usually start in a house (generally their own house). Your house is filled with tons of make-shift teleportation devices.

      - Doors. Doors don't work the same in the dream world either. Many doors can lead to new places. Try to slowly open the door and if the scene isn't desirable, close it and try again. You can also, open a door, walk through, close it, turn around, open the door, and walk back through. The scene will often change when you try to enter the room you were just in. Do this several times to try and get a desirable scene.

Don't be afraid to go across the street and use your neighbors doors for this either. Sometimes, the best door is an unfamiliar door. Using this logic, try to find a door in your house that doesn't belong there and use it.

      - Mirrors. Mirrors are excellent scene changing devices. The idea is to phase into/through the mirror into a different scene. Here is some advice I gave in the "Tell me about your dream control goals" thread for phasing through a mirror/object.

Walk up to the object you wish to phase through. Go ahead and place your hands on the object and start your phase. Once you get your arms to sink through, you now have the idea of being able to phase through said object planted in your mind. Now pull out your arms, take a few steps back, run and dive right through the area where you arms phased through. You already know you can pass through this area and with a quick dive, you won't have time to think/worry about getting stuck.

If you want to learn to just pass through the wall without going through these steps, you can also try going one foot and one hand first. Place one foot on the wall/object and the same side hand on the wall/object. Try to phase both of these at the same time. This will keep you from feeling that top half or bottom half stuck feeling. If you manage to phase an area the length of your body, the rest should pass through just fine.

One other thing to try, would be standing straight with your back against the wall. Push back just a bit, until you feel yourself melt/phase into the wall slightly. Now just let yourself go and fall backward through the wall. It isn't the prettiest way to phase, but you likely won't get stuck this way.

If you wish, you can try to get a particular scene to show up in the mirror before you attempt to phase into it. You can also ask your reflection to pull your through the mirror. Reach your hand up to the mirror and tell your reflection to pull you into his/her world. You could also get your reflection to change the scene of the mirror as well. Don't be afraid to ask you reflection for help.

      - The toilet. Yeah, you heard me right. Go stand in the middle of your toilet and flush it. If you have saw the latest Harry Potter movie, you know this can work. The quality on this video is shit, but take a look here...

      - Alice's Advice. Alice found a completely different world in a rabbit hole. You could do the same. Walk outside and look around your environment. Try to find those hidden passages to different areas. Think to yourself, if I created this world, where would I hide a secret passage to a new place. Luckily, you DID create this world, so the secret passage will be there. Next time you see a stump, why not see if there is a hidden lid atop the stump. Check trees for built in doors, Nightmare Before Christmas style. Just think back to all the movies, shows, videos you have watched and get creative with your transportation/scene changes/teleportation. I have traveled through a fireplace with floo powder, Harry Potter style. There are no limits in the dream world.

Ah, I see. Its always good to try several different stabilization techniques and see which ones work best for you. What I started doing recently, is crouching down in a squatted position and looking at the ground. I try to sit fairly still and give the dream time to stabilize. You could also take a knee or something similar.

I used a TV as a portal in a recent lucid dream. It didn't work at first. Then I got a dream character to give me the password to make it work.

Thank you for the help with teleportation! I've been racking my brain and trying to figure out how to teleport and I did it in a non-lucid the other day, but in my lucid's I've always had trouble. I'm sure I'll nail it, if I can't blink somewhere, I'll just make myself a portal, door, mirror, TV, whatever the hell I want
