Lucid dreaming experiences are entirely personal. Someone who claims to have them is trusted to be telling the truth. But it just occurred to me, it would be so easy for someone to pretend to have lucid dreams, or even to pretend to be a master at lucid dreaming but really have never had one in his or her life.

I bet it's happened, but I wonder how common it is. Stephen LaBerge himself might never have had a lucid dream in his life, and we wouldn't know the difference. I doubt that, but it's an odd thing to think about. I can't think of another achievement that could be faked so easily.
