I suffer from the same thing and I use it I my benefit. this is sorta a good think. Just focus on that heart beat. Feel the breath your taking. Before you know it u will be in a dream again |

I've never noticed this prior to a few weeks ago for some reason, but you know how your pulse causes very slight movements throughout your body? It seems that my ears move a lot for some reason and it rubs up against my pillow, distracting me by causing me to focus on my waking body and not my dream body during DEILDs. The only solution I've found is to sleep looking straight up at the ceiling, or lay my head on my arms, similar to how somebody would while sleeping in class, but neither of these are comfortable for me. |

Have you tried just lifting your head off your pillow quickly then going back down? |

to tehmuffinman, doing what you told him would just wake him up completely which is the opposite of what he wants, he is trying to induce a lucid dream straight after waking up from one, and in order to do so, you cant move at all after waking, only focusing on your dream body. To the OP, I don't reallyh know what can help you other than what dreamguy posted. |

Wow, sorry, somehow i completely read over where it said DEILD, I am of no help here then. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I always thought focusing on your waking body was bad for DIELD/WILD, but now i recall people saying that you should focus on your breathing for WILDs, and DEILDs are very similar. Will try it again over the weekend. |

The times I focused too much on my physical body, I ended up failing those DEILDs. Focusing on your body (heartbeat, breathing, etc) is good for relaxing, but once you hit SP and the dream formation starts, you should be focusing on imagining sensations of a dream forming around you, including tactile, auditory, and visual ones. If you just can't ignore the pulse, try imagining it as a certain sensation in the dream and create an imaginary explanation as to why you're feeling it. It's a bit hard to explain, but here's an example - if you want to DEILD and you woke up with your right arm half-asleep, imagine a dream where your arm was above your head, which would cause it to lose some circulation. |

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.
