Maybe i'm misinterpreting these posts, but it seems that way. Well, i just dropped the subject. I'm going to convert one of my close friends though. I believe he would be interested. He plays a lot of video games, so i'll be like "It's like your own sandbox in your head!!!"
Hm, this to me is good and bad, depending on how good your friends are. When I told one of my friends he had one within a week of barely trying. I was really demotivated because of that as it took me 4 months to have one that was shorter than his. But now he isn't really trying and I have had a few more since then so it's okay.

Lucid dreaming shouldn't be a contest, but more of a group activity at most.

I've probably got around ten people that will talk about it, or at least listen and appear interested.

I've got 3 or 4 that can lucid dream, and are interested in what I'm doing with it.

True. I see now how demotivating it would be to tell my friend to try it, and then he tells me he got one the next day. I then realize i've been trying for more than a month... That would suck.

I got talking to my girlfriend about it and some of my closer friends. My girlfriend has been a natural lucid dreamer for years. I got one of my best friends into lucid dreaming, he's read Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming and WILDed twice in a week, not too shabby So yeah I have someone to talk to about the previous night's nocturnal wanderings most days.

A friend of mine made a comment on it during a movie, but i said nothing since I was busy watching the movie and starting a conversation would be rude for the other people. It didn't come up again but maybe I'll start up a conversation soon.

Most of my friends have no interest whatsoever in LDing. They think it's stupid pretty much. Or else they think it's too much work. I've managed to convert a few though, so I do have a few I can talk dreams with now.

When I explain lucid dreaming to most people, they just interrupt me to tell me about some wacky dream they had as a kid. It is like their eyes glaze over at the word "dream" and they switch into selfish mode to start thinking of their own worst nightmares. Maybe I'm just bad at explaining it. The conversation ends there, because I refuse to interpret somebody's half remembered, half made-up dream.

I know, I get that too sometimes. I just give up trying to tell people since they either don't believe it for some reason or do as you said, and ask me about their dreams. Idiots.

I have one friend that I tell my lucid dreams to, but only now and again if I'v had that perfect intense one. He's too good a friend to tell me to shut up, but I can see it in his eyes. Thats why I come here, but it seems that most members here are alot younger than me. I'm 46, and cant help feeling a bit creepy hanging out here, so I seldom post. In fact this is the first time I been on the site in about 2 years. I dont dream about war games and dragons etc

I love LD'ing, Ive been doing it for years and and it never seems to get any less exciting or profound. But who do I talk to about it? there is non one.

If there are any other mature members, please send me a PM.

Aw man, you don't have to not post here because you think it's full of kiddies. I myself am 17, but almost everyone I know here is at least my age. You may as well feel like a creep for going to a public train station. Odds are there will be people of all ages there, same thing applies here.

I'm an adult and get the luxury of no longer giving a shit if I fit in or not so while I am the only person I know IRL that actually works at lucid dreaming, they pretty much all know I do it.

It still may look weird to people in class when I plug my nose randomly and try to breathe, but whatevs

Yeah, I gues your right, but I just feel more comfortable talking to people more my own age, thats only natural. Please dont get me wrong, I'v been a member here fore about six years, and I have always found the discussions here to be very interesting and intelligent, its good to see that people actually think about the big stuff.

In the vain of this thread, It's just frustrating that most people out there dont even know what LD'ing is. My LD's are a very important part of my life, its so natural to me that I cant understand why it doesnt happen to most people.

Its good that we have this site, if only to know we arent alone.

      And thanks for the reply.

Have you ever tried to do it discreetly? Whenever I do my reality checks, (looking at my hands, finger through palm and the nose pinch), I always just do it naturally and pretend I am looking at my nails or working a kink out of my knuckles or something. As for the nose pinch it is a simple matter of pretending you are wiping your nose.

That's if you care what people think. I don't, I actually kinda hope they would ask me what I'm doing so I could tell them, but if they don't have an interest, they won't ask, and then I won't tell.

Haha, I actually tell most of my friends about this. If you know how to word it correctly then you can make it sound pretty interesting. I actually got a few people I know in RL into lucid dreaming. I actually catch them doing RCs sometimes.
