What's your motivation for lucid dreaming?

Mine is definitely for the adventure
I want to travel to foreign places, meet people, and explore. I'm much more into that than actually doing crazy things and having a lot of abilities, I just want to be able to teleport and fly places.
I also like to try to find supernatural things, see if I can meet who I was in a past life (don't know if I believe it or not), try to see the future and see if it comes true, meet people and see if there's any way they are actually people dreaming on the other side of the world, etc.
      What's your motive?

My main motivation is to create an entire world and watch how it works, like a simulation.
I also want to see if astral projection really is true and try to AP out of a lucid dream. Plus, from what I've read, it's not as if anything could go wrong.
Shared dreaming is another thing. I'd love to try it out with a couple of my friends that are into lucid dream, but only one of them has actual had a lucid dream. :/

Mine is for the excitement and funness of it. But if I started having them often, I'd definitely try to interact with my subconscious and gain motivation of some sort that can be applied to my real life.

As for me, the idea of a sandbox is why it appeals to me. I can literally do whatever I please, talk to whoever I want, do whatever I want. It's a self-actualization thing. It would allow me to explore ideas and concepts I'd never be able to do otherwise. My own personal laboratory, kinda thing.

Out of boredom. I'm kinda looking for something to do atm, as i'm bored by my life (routines, every week being the same, that stuff). Doing anything, anywhere, with anything/anyone every night would probably ease the boredom

The posibility to explore my mind, while your sleeping your brain is not caring about keeping you alive since you are asleep so I think is more powerfull and In dreams you can work with him the way is supposed to be (:

I just want to be able to screw with things minus the consequences. I'm in it purely for the fun, but I wouldn't mind seeing what creative ideas I can get out of it.

I like the idea of being able to do anything I want. That's what drove me to be here.

I enjoy flying the most, and realizing that I'm in a dream.

I am also motivated by the sandbox aspect of it. Just having the opportunity to live out your desires without consequences sounds amazing. I would also like to gain new insights, understandings, and experiences in the dreamworld so its pretty motivating

Besides seeing if shared dreaming is actually true.
I want to experience things nobody ever will in their waking life. Learn from my own self, get rid of my fears. Tell stories around the world and teach desperate lonely people that dreaming can give you something in life even tho ur all alone.

      This is my first post.

I think better control and understanding of my dreams could lead to a better understanding of myself and a better life for me. If it does I have a friend I think it could help out too.

But if that does not work, **** it, what other people have said flying, sex, doing whatever I want, not a bad consolation prize.

Also what the ****, I'll be asleep. Talk about great hobbies, I won't have to take off any time from work or miss out on family, it is literally time that I spend doing nothing now. Might as well fly around my own personal sandbox universe to kill time you know.

Mostly to "get to know" myself better. To explore my mind. I've been depressed for a few years and suffered from social phobia since childhood, so i'm hoping to find some way to work on that from within my dreams.

Then there's the fun factor of being able to do just about anything you could imagine.

What's my motivation for lucid dreaming? Very simple. It's that incredible unexplainable feeling when you realize you are in another world that looks 100% real, and realizing you are asleep in your bed. That feeling that you are exploring another dimension, and your subconscious at the same time.

      Motivation?

      Knowledge, I guess.

Wasn't my original goal, but now it drives everything I do in my LDs.

Action, adrenaline, adventure. Exploration and being able to discover new aspects of dreams is also a big motivator for me.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

My main motivation is exploring, but I also love just doing fun things that I could never do IWL, like visiting the wonka factory. I also have a lot of spiritual/metaphysical motivations for LDing.

It has been quoted "every man wish himself god, good thing it will never happen" it's like becoming god in your own little world. What you say is law. And the really good part is, no matter what you do your not hurting anyone by your decisions, you could blow up planets, rape a million girls a minute, rob 10 billion banks, none of it will do anything to real people.

For me, wanting to dream lucidly is sort of secondary to wanting to experience (or rather, remember) dreaming in the first place. A bit under a year ago I was really depressed and wanted to.... escape this stupid world. I'd wake up every day and be disappointed that I woke up again. Dreams became more important to me than waking life because I hated my waking life, and dreams were a way to get away from it, for a time.

I ended up remembering dreaming most days, just because I'd decided dreams were important, I guess. I normally keep a journal of my waking life, and one day after I'd had a really interesting dream, it just seemed natural to write it in my journal. Then I started keeping a regular dream journal, so I wouldn't forget my important dream experiences. Interestingly, my motivation for keeping a waking journal turned into the same one I have for keeping a dream journal: so I won't forget.

I remembered having read somewhere, after my first, frightening experience with sleep paralysis, that good dream recall was an important first step in learning to dream lucidly, so I decided to try lucid dreaming as well. I'm not depressed anymore, but my dreams are still as, or more, important to me than my waking life. I want to dream lucidly to explore and experiment and have fun with dreams. I want to be lucid to have a more profound and interesting experience of dreams. I wonder if there is a waking equivalent to lucidity, and, if so, how to attain that, as well...
