Oh man I feel your pain, I had an FA where I sat up, grabbed my dream journal to write down the dream I just had, only to realise it was completely full and no space to write anything down. Then I sat there wondering why I didnt buy a few back up journals just in case this ever happened -_- gonna have to start RC'ing when I wake up..

[QUOTE=Ermac;1790071]I was waking up because my alarm clock went off, i saw my dog and i went to go pet him, woke up and saw my dog wasn't there

Yeah I get these all the time and it has gotten to the point where there are odd things in my room that are meant to deter it (3 clocks plus a watch, placing certain objects on my nightstand that do something completely different in the dreamworld, etc). The best trick is to remember what your dream signs are and try to apply them when you get up. The reason for my clocks is I find in my dreams no 2 clocks read the same time so if i wake up and all the clocks read something completely different, then there is a good chance it's a false awakening. So the next time you wake up look for whatever dream signs you normally look for when you are doing a DILD (if you use that method) and it will keep you from having to do your morning routine twice. Although I will note, nothing is fool proof. I have had times where i had a false awakening but was too lazy to use the protocols I had laid out for myself....only to feel like an idiot when the real alarm clock actually went off

Seriously - 500? Pretty hard to believe, considering you've only been around here since August! Exaggerating sounds like a possibility here..

Have you trained yourself to always do an RC every time you wake up?

False awakenings are frustrating, but they are a good sign that you are on the right track.

I'm getting better myself at recognizing FA's, but I get these chains of them where as soon as I catch it I have another. I "woke up" about 5 or 6 times yesterday morning. It gets tiring after a while. I mean, how many times should you have to get up in the morning? It kind of reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day after a while.

Try to focus on your successes, not your failures! Put a positive order out into the universe to receive a positive result. Jack Canfield's "Key to the Laws of Attraction" is good for this. Change your mindset, telling yourself before you go to sleep each night that, "Tonight I want to know when I am dreaming" or "Tonight I want to become lucid whenever I think I'm awake" - something like these but in your own words. Do not say anything like, "Tonight I don't want to to have a false awakening" because that focuses on the negative. Find a positive way to say the things you want, and say these things 3 times before you go to bed.

Positively changing your mindset will positively change your experiences.

Yeah, the easiest way to solve this problem is by making a big sign next to your bed that says "RC." Make it habit to RC every time you wake up. Once this becomes habit, you'll be LDing all the time.

My favorite false awakening was something like this, over the summer:

I'm lucid dreaming and then wake up in my bed. I grab my dream journal, write very specifically what happened for a moment or two. I get up and think about how awesome it was to have a lucid dream. I go in the kitchen and my Dad is making breakfast. I talk to him about my lucid dream, and he listens, then says he thought I was just getting up to look at my Christmas presents.

      wat?

So I turn around and there's a ton of presents just lining the room, and I'm like, "It's not Christmas!" and he replies with, "But it's snowing outside!"

I go and look and the ground is covered with snow and realize school is probably going to be closed. I am so pleased.

Then I wake up and stare at my wall, trying to comprehend whether I really am awake or not, this time. False awakenings can be fun!

Every FA I've had since learning about LD'ing has been lucid, I just have a small suspicion that something is wrong, and I do an RC, I think that if I have a laid back dream where I'm not having an adventure (EX. Just sitting in my room or playing xbox) I would have an LD, because your usually not plunged into adventure right when you wake up (or when your at home. I hope). So I'm just gonna try to have laid back dreams, and hopefully I will have an LD from it.

Yeah just RC whenever you wake up and problem solved.
Not long ago, all my dreams would start as a FA and yeah, it was hard to catch them until I started to RC after waking up.
