      Lucid Dreaming Timeframe Poll

Hello everyone, I am new to dreamviews and new to lucid dreaming. I understand the concept and can remember my dreams but have trouble attaining lucidity. I am currently taking a poll to see how long it takes the average person to achieve their first lucidity while dreaming after practicing. For you veterans out there this thread is specifically directed towards you.

If you could take the time to post how long after you practiced LDing and which technique you used that would be very helpful.

      Thanks

      Yo.
It took me roughly a week to get my first WILD, though it was short, i seem to have some sort of natural preference towards WILDs i think, having 2 or more successful WILDs per week usually(though sometimes they are still too short, but it's getting better with time).
If you are having problem attaining lucidity check out the tutorials section, there are a bunch of helpful tips there.

Hey Checker, thanks for replying. I only started trying to become lucid last night. I hadn't really looked at this website much. All I was trying to do last night was be able to recall my dream after I woke up. I did recall it and I'm trying now to gather as much information about LDing as I can before I go to sleep tonight. I have already read about MILD, WILD and DILD. Also I have a basic understanding of RC's. So basically I have very little knowledge and I figured while I was at work and reading the tutorials I could get even more information about LDing from people who are FAR more experienced than I am.

It took me about 1-2 weeks to get my first one. After that, i started having them a few times per week.

I had my first lucid my second night after starting. But that was largely because of some serious luck

I started on January 9, 2013. My first lucid dream occurred on January 23, 2013. I had another one on January 24, 2013, January 29, 2013, February 5, 2013, and February 10, 2013. This all looks like a success, but I haven't had a lucid dream since February 10, 2013. I am growing impatient, desperate, and frustrated. I don't know what happened or why I haven't had one for a long time now.

The reason I am feeling like this is because I wanted to learn how to lucid dream in order to learn more about myself and to experience emotional catharsis. I can't do any of this if I am not having any lucid dreams. Without this, I cannot practice stabilizing dreams. I really just want to give up because I feel like a failure at yet another thing that has caught my interest. This means I've only had an 8% success rate now. Ugh!

OneirosOnkelos, bear with me and maybe I can help you out. I myself have not had my first LD however I have read a bunch on it recently. Maybe I can help or maybe this wont help but if you could answer me a few questions I might be able to solve your issue.

First, are you remembering any of your dreams?

If you are not remembering your dreams, do you have a DJ?, Do you have a regular journal (just for thoughts about daily awake life)?

If you are remembering your dreams, how many per night?, What are your nightly habits before bed (ie. what do you eat ect.)?, Do you practice RC's and awareness daily?

I have excellent dream recalls. I also have a DJ I fill in. Before bed, I'm online talking to a friend. What I eat varies. Sometimes soy crispettes (this hasn't been often lately), sometimes I'll drink tea, sometimes nothing. I eat or drink these while I still have about an hour left before I go to bed, though. I sleep at 10 pm. I kind of became a bit lax with the RCs, but only because I was trying ADA. I've been getting back to doing RCs, though.

Try taking some B6 pills, or eating a banana before bed. Also, ADA is GREAT from what I've read. Keep doing that, not only does it improve your chances of getting an LD (from what I've read) it also helps with daily activities. I mean come on, havn't you seen Psych? Shawn is totally aware of things around him.

From what I've understood, you don't have to only choose one or the other (RC's or ADA). Logically it would make sense to put the two together. Who knows what could make you realize it was a dream?

      Hope I've helped a little.

I got one the first time I tried!!!

But then I started up again a year later and it took me 45 days. Reading ETWOLD immediately gave me an LD after 45 days of searching the internet aimlessly.

It took me 2-3 days after starting an induction technique. I used MILD (still do). I think it worked better because I've been having lucids since before, I just didn't know what they were called

      Cheers

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

      I don't consider myself a veteran but:

I started in late December with dream journaling and regular reality checks every day, and shortly after I started, MILD with about 1 or 2 alarm awakenings per night. It took 16 days to have my 1st lucid dream. (What exactly I did that night is described here: 1st Lucid Dream)

Since then, it has gotten a little easier and somewhat more often. Recently, with the help of SSILD + MILD, I had 4 (short) LDs in just 3 days. So I have been steadily experimenting, getting the right balance of wakefulness during WBTB, and so forth.
Traditional LD methods not working as well as you'd hoped? Give SSILD a try!

Less than 24hours to start having DILDs. I used MILD with intense visualization and numerous reality checks and achieved 3 lucids the first 2 weeks. It was all due very intense practice (especially MILD + visualization).

First I was working on improving recall before I worked on lucidity, My recall improved quickly like within a couple of days, lucidity attempts were harder, I came close several times but never quite did it. until yesterday which was about 2 months in all.

I started actively trying to lucid dream in early May, 2009. It took me almost two months (about 7 weeks?) to have a lucid dream. Then I started having them at least a few times a month, with some dry spells. I pretty much used combinations of all the main techniques. I think my first ones were from WBTB and DILD.
      It's all in your head.

I started early and naturally, I was two years old the first time I realized I was dreaming and took control, honestly. I forgot about it a bit when beginning high school and started again when a friend kept talking about this site, i think it took a couple weeks to get back at it.
