      Lucid Dreaming and Paradise

Has anyone ever made the connection between lucid dreaming and heaven or paradise? It seems to me that unless heaven was like a lucid dream it wouldn't really be heaven, and would become hell in short order.

Do you think when we die, if we go on to paradise that it would be like a lucid dream?

Maybe, I sure hope not. Like I said before it would be too predictable.

Well i hope it's like a lucid dream with lots of people in it. Of course it would all awesome and stuff for a while lets say like... a year to be there all by yourself, but then when the reality kicks in that you're alone there that would be saddening. I just don't know would your subconsciousness be there with you like as another being or would it just die with the body? In my opinion I would have no problem actually to spend eternity in wonderland with my subconsciousness ONLY if it was self aware also.

I think you would get scizophrenic if you'd be locked up in an eternal dream Mikasan. Or go insane in some sort of way... that thought is kinda scary lol.

And yes I have made that connection, but I don't think there's much reality to it personally. Also I'm not really into that paranormal dreaming stuff, like AP or OBE. I think those are just forms of WILDing as well. Just another type of dream.

If you were in an eternal lucid dream, it seems to me you'd have to try to make your people "alive" in some way. You'd have to find a way to limit yourself in order to give them free will.

It might take time. It might mean suffering instead of pleasure. It might mean sacrifice on your part.

Hmmm. All the stuff we learn in this life. I wonder if there's a connection.

But even then you'd still know they weren't solid people, just your own creations. That'd be a bit upsetting.

It would be cool though, if it was like a giant shared lucid.

What is real? Or maybe the task is just that, creating a real person.

I think when we die...we die.

But when we lucid dream: we live more than we do at this very point. Like Laberge once said, perception is dreaming with restrictions from your sensory inputs. But dreaming is perception without restrictions, where anything can exist independent of laws or source. It's your own heaven, and with your own hell if you allow it. Which makes sense with what many people say: heaven and hell are mere realities inside your head.

Science and logic says we are dreaming and DCs are our own creation. But how do we know? Maybe we are in a spirit dimension. Or maybe we are in our own spirit world we create and it is an imitation (Although poor) of the true spirit world of the Creator. As I experience dreams in general I am amazed how different they all are. I didnt think I was that creative. Dreams and dream characters seem to have their own character. They dont always act the way I would expect. I am not proposing this as fact. Its just that we perceive reality with our senses, but that is out the window with LDs. Remember that all the great science we use to prove the facts about dreaming are also based upon our senses, which are now subject to question.

I was about to disagree with you, because a blind man cannot dream visually. But that's only true if he is born blind, so we're not fully making use of our sensory systems. Now you added another mystery I want to shed some light on, neuroscience research time!

Also, remember that you only 'perceive' there are blind people. Anyway, if you live in reality and have another state of consciousness called dreams, which you awake from, how hard is it to think there could be a 3rd level of consciousness that is more real than reality and we switch consciousness to that when we die?

I think one dies when they are born again. That which they are born again into can't die. Never could.

I don't know who you are, Rothgar, but I think we are on the exact same sheet of music when it comes to dreams.

Exactly! Look, Paradise, if it exists (and I believe it does because Jesus Christ said it did) has to be like a lucid dream. It cannot be any other way and still be paradise. Everyone is unique in this universe, so to make Paradise a real heaven for each person, it has to be like a lucid dream. Otherwise, it would become boring, limited, or even distasteful. I remember when I was a small kid, they used to tell me in heaven we'd be "praising God continually for eternity." And I always thought that meant heaven would be like sitting in church--for eternity! Not exactly heaven if you ask me.

I believe we have lucid dreams because our consciousness is traveling to the other dimension where Paradise is created.

Well... I believe in heaven as y'all see in my sig. here are my thoughts about it:

Lots of people talk about a "loneliness" when LDing. That is not paradise.

#1 thing about being in heaven is being with Jesus, someone that loves you, and being with someone you love and that loves you is more amazing than any LD I have experienced.

Heaven is a very big misconception in a lot of places. Heaven (according to the Bible, the new earth), the place that we will spend forever will be like here except all the bad things that sucks will be gone. Death, pain, rape, hate, etc.

New bodies that we will have in heaven. The Bible talks about us having new better bodies like the one Jesus had when he came back from his death. He ate, teleported, walked through walls, and flew. So we should have that power as well. check it out if you wish. At the end of the Gospel.

I can post verses if you wish. These are my beliefs from what I have read of the Bible, and the paradise that is mentioned in it.

Yes BrandonBoss...God is all about fellowship and oneness in Christ, so while I think there are similarities between what we experience in LDs and what we can do "for real" in heaven, the big difference is sharing in the experience with others in community never experienced before.

I myself am an atheist, not believing in a deity, afterlife, or any such things.

As for lucid dreaming being a paradise? Sure - if you know yourself well enough to know what your ideal paradise is. But even that will change, in time.

A perfect paradise for anyone is impossible - perfection is a goal to be chased, never reached.

As for whether it's Heaven or Hell, or what have you - I'd advise against bringing any sort of serious religious debate here. I find it ends in disaster.

Now, to answer your question about a possible afterlife being like a lucid dream - sure, it may very well be, though I do not believe it to be my place to know of a potential afterlife. However, if it is, it is far from my idea of "paradise."
