Which Am I Using: WILD or MILD?

So, I've been joined to DV for 4 1/2 years and you'd think I would have figured this out by now...

This is really bothering me and I just want to know what technique I am using, WILD or MILD
Basically, I set my alarm for 3 or 5am and right when I wake up I immediately go back to sleep unless I have a dream to write down. When I go back to sleep, I repeat to myself, "I'm in a lucid dream. I'm in a lucid dream..." until I fall back asleep and hopefully end up lucid.

I thought the repeating thing might be considered a MILD technique, but isn't the waking up a WILD technique? Am I using both?

I suppose the name doesn't really matter since I'm just doing what works for me, but I am still curious.

      Thanks in advance!
I dream a lot, need not be asleep.

Although some people do use mantras as an anchor for WILD, what you're trying is MILD, since in WILD there is no lapse of consciousness into the dream.

That is right. If you go from awake into a dream, that would be WILD. If you have a dream and suddenlly become lucid, that is MILD.

Ohh okay. So in a WILD you don't become lucid right away when you fall asleep, right? And in MILD you do?

Does this method work well? I feel like that would be more convenient than staying up for a couple of hours then going back to sleep.

If you stayed up liitle longer, that would be called Wake Back To Bed. Which is not a method, just something we do to wake up our minds. You can use mantras like you use the "I'm in a lucid dream" in a WILD method. Used this way it acts as more of an anchor, something to keep you awake until dream is ready and you can enter it from waking state without loss of consiousness.

But If you repeat your mantra or a phrase, then fall asleep and hope for a DILD, you used it more as an affirmation to get you lucid in a later dream.

For me it works around 2 times a week, but I'm still having trouble stabilizing the dream once I'm in it. I'm still kind of experimenting with it though.

Ok so my technique of repeating over and over "I'm in a lucid dream" until I'm lucid is the WILD technique, correct?
Or is it MILD, like PostScript99 says?

      I'm sorry guys. I'm still a bit lost :/

It depend, if you lose consiousness (fall asleep) between mantra and a lucid dream.

WILD - you are awake, repeat your mantra, then enter lucid dream without any loss of consiousness.
MILD - you are awake, repeat your mantra, fall asleep, sleep for a while until in one of your dreams you realize that you are dreaming.

It's a MILD, but you're just combining it with WBTB.

Never forget,,, a serious attempt at WILD that fails, is still a great form of MILD and may get you lucid later in the night as a DILD, so it is all good.
