Help with keeping lucidity in dreams

So for the last two nights in a dream I have randomly realized I was dreaming. But I forget to do my reality check and I also forget to rub my hands together and spin around and stuff like that. In both dreams I have lost lucidity in a couple of seconds and it annoyed me because I wasn't able to do anything in the dream.

Don't worry about it, it happens a lot, especially when you're excited.

All you need to do is to try to keep calm next time you become lucid, and try not to be afraid to wake up, cuz that may cause you to wake up.

Rubbing hands and doing a RC after becoming lucid are good, and they help, but they are not essential, so don't blame not doing them in losing lucidity. As I said, it must be excitement and or fear of losing lucidity/waking up too early.

PS: I'm not saying don't rub hands or RC. On the contrary, these are very helpful in keeping the dream stable.

Little trick: Try shouting "CLARITY NOW!" to the dream after becoming lucid to make the dream much more vivid and life like (turn it to HD lol)

I agree with LouaiB, the most important thing is to stay calm, big excitement or boredom will kill the dream. When you become lucid, stop for a moment, take a deep breath, calmly count to 10, then do RC, rub your hands and repeat to yourself, that this is a dream, that you control this dream.

I found that it helps to rehearse your "becoming lucid" moment in waking life, Mellanhavande gave a great little ritual that should work wonders. I'd add: really look around at the dream environment, that helps to establish yourself in the dream.

I love to practice these lucidity moments during waking too. I do it using reflection intention. Seems to get more stuck like that

What I did once to help me out was say "Don't wake me up yet!"

I stopped and wondered why there are aliens in the apartment complex. I counted my fingers and due to my hand having more than 5 fingers, I became lucid.
I felt happy and thought of what to do. My lucidity started to fade and I said "Don't wake me up yet!", which made my lucidity increase.

This reminded me of one excellent LD technique - when you become lucid and stabilized, say to your subconscious ''Please, make me lucid in dreams more often''. It really works and be nice to your subconscious.

      I tried something similar once.
I told a DC to remind me that I'm dreaming next time I'm dreaming........ He still hasn't lol

Well there is another way, ask the dream ''Show me how to have more lucid dreams!''. Maybe this is better, haven't tried.

      All good tips.

One of the biggest things that helps me stay lucid is spinning in a circle as I feel myself starting to lose it. 9 times out of 10 this will give me a few more minutes or plop me into a new random lucid dream.
