Dream Characters Tell Me I'm Dreaming

I read on here that most Dream Characters refuse to admit that the dreamer is in a dream but looking back at a lot of my dreams and lucid dreams, some characters have told me that I'm in a dream. One of them was my GF (now ex) telling me that she was going to leave because she knew I was dreaming and a few moments later, I became aware.

My most recent one, I had a false awakening and there was a male voice coming from somewhere telling me that I was in a dream. I replied "No It's too late, I'm already up" It replied to me, saying "You're still in a dream; look at your watch. Someone is waiting for you in the room with the open door." I looked at my watch and it was normal except that the date was moving along with the seconds, which made me become aware. I did what the voice told me and I found Lisa; an older lady who identified herself as my Dream Guide.

So... any similar experiences?

They're very fickle little b*tches… they'll pretty much always go against you. It's actually very common to have DCs tell you you're dreaming, when you're not lucid. It's when you're lucid that they tell you you're not dreaming.

I've had this happen once or twice. Another time I asked somebody if he has every lucid dreamed before, while I was still in a dream.

My favorite is one goes like this: I get into a particularly bad situation with a dream character, such as a car accident or something. I will then (completely nonlucid) say that it's okay because it's just a dream. Then the whole thing will catch up to me and I will actually realize it's a dream ONLY AFTER I say that.

Mine are usually pretty unpredictable. I've had some characters who flat-out tell me I'm dreaming, and some who refuse to acknowledge that I'm dreaming, even when I'm fully aware that I am. When my Dad first passed away, he used to come to me as a recurring character and would 'drop hints' that I was dreaming (usually saying something like "don't you find it strange that I'm standing here, right now?"), but would rarely ever actually tell me that I was dreaming. He's one character that has never actually denied that I was dreaming, when I was, though.
