      Recalling conversations

      Hi everyone,

I've been practicing LD'ing for for about 3 weeks now,
Since day 1 I've kept a dream journal, my recalling is hit and miss, sometimes I recall several vivid dreams and sometimes struggle for a few fragments, but that's another question.

The one thing I can't seem to do is to recall dream conversations, when I recall a dream I'm aware that I did have a conversation and can most often I can recall the subject too, but I can barely recall any dialog!

Any one got any advice on how to recall conversations more vividly

      Thanks!

I consider myself to have excellent dream recall but I usually don't remember more than simple phrases. I think it's because dream dialogue is essentially thought dialogue we have with ourselves (since that's what a dream is anyways). Can you remember every word you thought in your head five minutes ago? Neither can I! But I do know what I was thinking about. In the same way, within dreams I remember the essence of the messages I conveyed to others and received from them but not the exact dialogue. Does that make sense?
The only thing I think would increase the amount of recall for this is journaling through the night as soon as the dream ends. That's when I remember most quotes said. But IMO knowing the essence of the conversation is just as good as quotations.

Thanks for the reply! Makes sence when you put it like that, It's just because I've seen people's posts where they can write fairly long transcripts, but hey!

P.s I had a dream last night and I was able to recall a few quotes, so that's something

Recalling dialogue is not a strong point of mine, but FryingMan is correct, I tend to write down any dialogue I remember first, because it's always the first detail to disappear.
I seem to communicate telepathically in most of my dreams, rather than actually talking, so sometimes there aren't actually any words to recall.
If I'm lucid, there's a trick I use in-dream to remember dialogue more strongly, which is narrating the scene in my head as it's happening, and imagining how I will write about it in my DJ. I might repeat the dialogue a few times over in my head to make sure the memory is reinforced more strongly.

Hyu is a member who has very strong dialogue recall.
He says this about the conversations he recalls:

Especially with conversations, it sometimes happens that I clearly remember the topic and outcome of a discussion, but none of the wording.
If I feel like I can reasonably reconstruct such a conversation I usually do so for my public DJ.

I generally have good memory for conversations, what I do is simply think back on what I say at the time of the conversation and then everything else comes back naturally.

Like when one recalls a conversation with anyone "I told them that XYZ and then they told me that AYUH can you believe that!?" and that's what works? Though as pointed up there by dreamer/Hyu, sometimes will have to fill in gaps when the conversation is too long and some of it has been forgotten; or incidentally when it is too long and you don't feel like writting down everything it feels nice to cut on the details and make a small summary of the conversation <.<
