Does anyone dare to disagree with "yes" to the answer to the poll?
If you see a strange typo in my post, blame my iPad for that.

I once told a hardcore gamer that Lucid Dreaming is better than video games. He looked at me as if I just pissed on his future children.

If someone who has had a true lucid dream says that video games are better! Shit, I don't even know what to say to that.
Be in your own video game while lucid dreaming!

I had an idea today about "Lucid Gaming" in which someone would make a predetermined game. They would create the setting, characters, conflict, weapons, ect. and everyone else could use that in their own lucids, and tweak it for maximum fun. Idk, kinda sounds lame when I type it out like that, but... meh.

I think it's a pretty good idea as long as they really think about this game first so as not too waste a lucid dream.

Seeing how it is a 3d entertainment that you get for free (other than training for it), is done always in your free time (when sleeping) and you have an infinite number of things to chose from as to what to do, yes.

LOL! I guess he'd never had a lucid dream before. No other explanation if you ask me.

Just last night I had a dream that I was semi-aware was actually a dream, based on a video game- it was truly awesome. I'm sure it would have been infinitely better if I had been fully lucid, but hey, beggars can't be choosers, I'm an LD noob.

I don't know if anybody's ever played Halo, if so, think of the "Oddball" gametype, only with about 15 balls on different floors of what appeared to be Hogwarts. Brilliant dream, and way better than the real game!

      First ever post bam!

I've never had a proper lucid dream yet just from a bit of research into it, it's a bit obvious why lucid dreaming is better than video games.

Like other people have said, video games have a lot of restrictions, even if you own every single video game there will still be things that you won't of done that you can do in a lucid dream and video games are you controlling a character via buttons instead of you being the character.

      Joke vote maybe?

I think someone voted no because they are either:

      - Not an accomplished dreamer
      - Are REALLY into video games
      - Are craving attention

Whoever posted no, I'd really like to hear reasons why!

Try imagining yourself playing it. Everytime I play a computer game in my dream I end up getting sucked into it without knowing (although it eats away my lucidity).

Maybe it gets rid of your lucidity because when playing a game on the computer or something, you completely stop noticing everything around you but instead you try and immerse yourself as much as you can into the screen. So you start entering the game instead and forgetting your lucid and all about the dream already around you.

My dreams are shittier than they would be if I had never played a video game or watched a film.

When I fly as Iron Man, it feels as though I'm playing a game or watching a film. And it isn't very good. I know I can fix that, but I hate how my LDs suck by default.

Ok, they don't suck, but they could be a lot better.

So what I'm trying to say is, not only are games WORSE than dreams. They actually make dreams worse than they should/could be.

Let me tell y'all why Vidjeo Games are the bestest thing evar. Even better than your silly Lucid Dreams:

Firstly, Video games can last longer than any one Lucid Dream.

The "money" argument has no backing because anyone resourceful enough can get a game they want to play for free.

Video games are consistent, and allow you to control things with a push of a button. No fancy attention and focus shifting to bring about a certain archetype.

To have an experience and get lost in a captivating story all you have to do is pop in a disc, or cartridge, or other. If you want to change your experience altogether there's nothing fancy you have to do to change the scene. And when switching games there's no leftover archetypes that might mess up your fun.

Video games can be quite realistic. It all depends on what game you're playing. Very rarely are LDs actually as vivid as we like to think they are.

Controls in games aren't really that big of a deal. Furthermore, how many people have to get used to something simple like flying in LDs, Let alone something much more complex?

Most people have restrictions in LDs. They shouldn't, but they do for various reasons.

Most modern games use games use vision, sound, and touch. LDs only use whatever senses you're focusing on at the time. This could be all of them, or none at all.

None of those arguments will ever beat the fact that an LD is the greatest feeling ever.

And if you seriously think that video games are better than lucid dreams, then I don't see why you are in this site at all.
