Well, I actually do take the time to ask myself about the surroundings when class gets boring That's a good start, but how long it takes to learn and how many LD's you get, and of what quality, vary far too much from person to person. I don't believe an approximation or an accurate guess to the average could be obtained, either. Everyone has certain methods that work great for them, and some not at all. I know people who have multiple LD's per night, using, at least in part, RC's; some have only a lucid a month, if that.

Most of my LD's involve little dream control. I usually only realise I'm dreaming, and I can change minor things that affect the plot. Once, in recent memory, did I get the chance to break off and explore flight and telekinesis. This is part of why it's so damn hard for me to complete the tasks of the month =/

Also... I've come to hate reality checks with a passion, lol. I know what they are and how to do them, but they (so far) have a 100% fail rate when I'm dreaming. I didn't know about RC's before DV. I always had DILDs from becoming aware of things when dreaming. So... I'm building on that now.
