      New theory. Looking for participants.

I do believe I had an epiphany the other day in terms of attaining lucidity and I think I may be on to a new method in terms of vividness.

As far as I'm concerned, The ADA and Reality checks haven't bled into my dreams yet. Being over 2 months, moving on to the 3rd month and no lucid dream yet, I decided to revise my approach, while still staying relative to the concept of Dild's.

So the other night it was standard protocol for me: Stay aware of surroundings with heightened level of awareness, practice reality checks every now and then etc. etc. Come bed time I was drifting off to sleep recapping the entire day and its progress through the hours, but it wasn't too long before my mind hit the "day dreaming" state where my imagination began to wander in thoughts..... and then it hits me: Every time I daydream some weird scenario (be it about trains, rockets, or epic lightsaber battles), I never envision myself doing reality checks or being aware of my surroundings.

Now I'm more awake then ever because this notion got me excited. I spend the next few minutes calming myself down before I put my idea into practice. I let my mind wander with it's crazy thoughts, but instead I tried to "imagine" myself being aware. I imagined myself doing reality checks in mid-world. It felt weird at first, but I found myself getting exhausted and decided to just let go and fall asleep.

Well surely enough it had an impact. Sadly it was no lucid dream, but the vividness was amazing enough to compensate. I even managed to do reality checks (unfortunately they failed. Damn). Now being that this is only one night, I am going to give it a fair trial, but you have to admit: Nothing works for almost 3 months, and then suddenly bam - 120% increase in vividness)

To summarize this post in a nutshell: My theory is: If you imagine yourself being highly aware of all your senses, and you imagine yourself doing reality checks while your mind is wandering before you go to sleep, it will bleed over into your dreams. It's sort of like practicing both ADA and reality checks through an imaginary state.

It would be greatly appreciated if anybody takes this theory into practice. I really want to see if this works, or if I've just gone insane.

This sounds like great advice. Traditional MILD does something similar. You imagine yourself performing reality checks as you recount your dreams or daydreams in your mind. I think this is a critical step in remembering to do anything. You have to imagine yourself doing it.

This is utterly brilliant, i never imagine myself doing reality checks. Doing them IRL is important, but i think now that thats only half of the work. Day dreaming, is the closest you can get to dreaming without dreaming, so, if you reality check there, you can reality check in your dreams.

      T-two cookies?

But Thanks for the positive feedback. I really do hope that this is a mental breakthrough for me & that it will help me get close to lucid dreams. The 1 night alone was enough to get me all riled up in excitement.

Great advice here. I've always hounded myself to do physical RCs, but daydreaming them actually sounds pretty effective. Since you're closer to that imaginative state I would bet they would pass on into dreams more fluidly. I'll definitely be giving this a try; thanks for your insight.

Firebat, do you mean doing reality checks in the nighttime-daydream when you notice you are daydreaming, or forcing your nighttime-daydreaming to be about doing reality checks?
The statement below is the truth.
The statement above is a lie.

no, i think he means to day dream normally, but reality check and question the day dream, because you cant control dreams while dreaming unless your lucid.

Just Like Solarfalre says. Anytime you find yourself daydreaming, do an imaginary reality checks. My notion is that you will condition yourself to "imagine" a reality check when dreaming. You don't even have to be day dreaming, just imagine doing a reality check (that doesn't mean stop doing the psychical reality checks though). Hope that helps

Also if you can, try to imagine being aware of all your senses. Example. Lets say you find yourself in a grocery store, try and focusing on what the sotre looks like, what you hear etc. It's really akward at first and can feel tricky, but if you can get the hang of it, it could do wonders.

I'm gonna try this right NOW because I'm in bed at the moment and I'm very sleepy. Good night, people, I'll tell you if it has worked.
BTW. I'm currently awake for 24h so maybe it wont work. I was awake whole night.

Its pretty much the same thing, and whats cool is that if you practice it more, you'll get random shots of 'THIS IS A DAYDREAM' even when you arent consiously aware your daydreaming. Its almost the same thing for DILD, except now its a DILDd

This is brilliant! I've had some great results with reagular RCs, but I imagine this will help tremendously. I'll try it for a couple of nights and report back my results.

I've attempted to do something similar to this two days ago. Like you said, imagine the scenarios.
For instance, I normally dream about SNOW and SCHOOL. So would you say that visualizing that it is snowing, then performing a reality check(keeping snow in mind) is the way to perform your technique?

I've been doing this over the past couple of days with little results, but I'll keep trying. This sounds promising.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Got some interesting results with this... While it didn't produce any actual lucididty (is that a word?) during the two nights I was able to try this, I got some insanely vivid dreams by trying to activate all my senses after the daydream RC. Finding myself in locations like the plains of Mars, with grains of sand blowing against my face, and during a diferent dream in the ruins of a stone fortress, noticing things like the vibrations from thunder and the warmth of a nearby fire. I remeber doing a RC once and not beliving the results on acount of everything feeling so real. I will definitely keep experimenting with this.

Yes, I too have notice that my vividness has reached at maximum to what I can achieve. But the reality checks seems to fail constantly, and thus I have hit a road block. I trying to isolate the cause for this.
