Juroara, speaking the syllables out loud is beneficial but not essential. You can 'speak' them with your mind's voice and it will still be effective. It helps me to still engage the muscles in order to really imagine the sound properly, but even that isn't necessary when you have done it enough to know what the feeling of "om" or "ommmnngg" is.
I also use the hindu gayatri mantra in meditation. I talked to a bhutanese guy I used to work with about it, and he told me that it is not traditional for an individual to speak mantras out loud.
I forgot to comment on this earlier; just as Darkmatters said, you may not open your chakras on the first try, and the more regularly you can do it the easier it will be. This is something that I have a lot of trouble with. Fortunately, my life will soon be changing in a drastic enough way that if I am diligent, I will be able to focus on it much more.
