      Hi everyone - new member

Ah, I'm really excited joining this site, I hope I'll be able to use it a lot and soon get results too!
My name is Wolfheart (Wolf, Wolfy for short), and Im 14 years old (turning 15 this year) and I just received a new determination to Lucid Dreaming. I was talking to one of my guy friends on the phone and he suddenly asked me "Have you ever controlled any of your dreams before?" I sadly said no and he explained what he did in one of his dreams. I was so surprised 'cause I never met anyone who's done this before and Im usually the one who talks about PSI balls, telekenisis, astral projection etc. So today I decided to look up ways on how to Lucid Dream and behold I found this website!

So here i am absorbing all the information I can find on this site and hoping on achieving Lucid Dreaming:3 I'm so excited and determined right now! >w<

Welcome to Dreamviews ! Definitely take a look around and try to learn all you can about lucid dreaming. I suggest starting a dream journal right away (you don't have to keep it on the site, but at least keep a notebook at home). Dream journaling will help you build your recall along with many other great benefits. If you ever have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! Best of luck to you!

Thanks and I have a Dream journal that I just used yesterday from a dream that I remembered^-^
I do have a question about dream journals though, is it better to record the date when you had that dream or is putting down the dream you remembered more important?

Yeah, you don't have to date them if you don't want to. The dating may help you look back and see how often you are dreaming and whatnot, but it isn't essential. With that said, I have always dated my entries.

Welcome to DV! Dream journaling is definitely the first step I'd take - learn to recall as many dreams with as much detail as you can! After a while this will naturally increase the vividness and clarity of your dreams, and you'll remember more dreams easily.

Start reading up on tutorials, Puffin's Beginners Guide is one of the best out there, I really recommend giving it a look! There's a lot here on DV to learn, and a Beyond Dreaming section if you wanna discuss telekinesis and AP

I'll be sure to read the tutorials soon but I have another question for someone to help me with.
I like having my TV on and I like to listen to my IPod when I'm about to go to bed. Will either one affect my dream recall? And if they do, should I turn them off when I start to get sleepy?

Hi Wolfheart, welcome to Dreamviews! =)

I joined when I was 15 and since then, I've learned a lot about LDing and have pretty much been glued to the forum. Saying that, I'm sure you'll find out a lot of interesting things about lucid dreaming in the future and meet lots of people who can help you along your way! As Yoshi said, it's not too important to date your dreams; I just type mine up in my online dream journal (Dreamviews has an awesome blog-style section for that) and the date I post that entry is close enough. It's definitely more about the dream itself than remembering when exactly you had it.

As for your next question, from my own experiences, looking into any bright lights up to half an hour before bed can reduce recall. The lights, and even if you're watching a scary or intense film, can keep your mind too awake, whereas it's important to just let it slow down a few minutes before you get into bed. If you're tired, it's best to go to sleep. Half an hour, or even an hour before you go to bed, it's easier if you just relax, read a book, write, or draw. Or, you can daydream, or think about what you'll do in your next lucid. The more prepared you are, the easier it will be! If you want to try a WILD (wake induced lucid dream), for instance, it helps to read up on sleep paralysis and imagine what kind of hallucinations you might experience - it can be a bit intimidating at first. Also, you could try MILD (mnemonic induced lucid dream); it's basically affirming to yourself that you will have a lucid dream, and being fully confident. In other words, it's a mindset, and it's known to work very well!

If you have any other questions, feel free to post or send me (or another member) a PM.

Thanks for your insight I really appreciate it. I'll try just sleeping with the TV on and see how that turns out 'cause I'm pretty sure I recalled a dream last night and my TV was on. I'll just practice dream recall for now and then I'm going to try the MILD when I think I'm ready

Alright I have one more question before I go to bedxD What does it mean in a dream when you can actually feel something? Like in one of my dreams someone hit me with a fire-ball or lightening ball and hit me in my stomach area. When I woke up I could distinctively remember how it felt and everything. I'm just asking this 'cause that was the only time that it has happened to me and in my other dreams I never felt anything like that before.

No problem, I'm happy to help!

In regular dreams, the amount of feeling depends on the person. I tend to feel very realistic pain in my dreams, but I don't feel my feet contacting the ground when I walk, or similar things. If you develop an awareness of different tactile feelings in waking life, it will definitely allow your dreams to become more vivid in terms of tactile sensations. If I'm typing, I focus on what the keyboard feels like, how the keys go down when I tap on them, and how heavy objects feel. You don't have to do this all the time, but noticing these sensations in real life is a great way to bring more of it into your dreams. Lucids can also be affected by doing that, although in your LDs you're conscious, so you have more of an expectation of what you're going to feel if something happens. Remember, mindset is a big part of lucid dreaming, both for attaining the actual lucid, and controlling your dreams.

Last night at around 2-something a.m. I settled down into bed and started to repeat "I will remember my dreams tonight" in my head. I soon fell asleep and when I woke up I couldnt remember anything at first but I changed my position and just layed there and I finally started to get information about my dream!

And I thought of another question:3 How can you tell that you've had more than one dream? 'Cause I think I had two dreams but I'm not sure.

Just keep focusing on your recall and once it gets better you will be able to tell.
