      Wink Possibilities of Lucidity

Hey guys! I am fairly new to lucid dreaming and have a few questions. Although I have known about Lucid Dreaming for quite some time and given attempts here and there, I have no experience a lucid dream. Still working on it My questions on attaining lucidity will be in a different post probably under the WILD section. In this posts, I want to ask you (Dreamviews community) on what goals/objectives I should try when in a lucid dream? Ex: fly, shapeshift, etc. What can I do in a lucid dream? What are the possibilities? What is worthwhile trying? Thanks for the time!

to the forums! Don't get discouraged if you didnt get a LD yet. It takes time and practice. There are many things you can do, if you can imagine it then you can do it. I would start off by anchoring yourself in the dream. Don't try anything too crazy or you'll wake up. You have to ease yourself into it.

Hi Rapterbone, welcome to Dreamviews. Merry belated Christmas to you! I hope you had a great holiday. Honestly, the possibilities of lucid dreaming are endless. Do whatever you like, increase a skill, create music, use dreams as a creative spark. It is all up to you. What do you want to do? What sounds fun to you? You can do anything!

I recommend to look around this site and read other people's lucid dreaming experiences. Happy dreaming!!!

For first couple of dreams, I would recommend just learning to stabilize to make the dream longer. Then I would just walk around and take in the sights, maybe talk to some dream caracters. You would be amazed, how exciting are even simplest things in LD. Make a list of things, you would like to do. That way when in LD, you will remember them better.

Since the good people above already helped about doubts, I will try to give you some "encouragement" by telling you possible interesting things you might want to lucid dream. Remember that lucid dreaming is not something that ends like a game or a book. It's a lifetime of a 2nd reality, meaning you will never run out of things to do!

      - You can fly, shapeshift, drive a tank, or have a meal of your favorite dish. That means any feeling or sensation is nearby, you just have to go for it!
      - You can talk with anyone. Can always try to talk to your waking life pets, the girl you like, or even someone close to you or that you always wanted to meet. Personally, I would love to have a talk with Neo from the matrix
      - You can strike for spiritual quests. Finding your dream guide, learning to meditate within a dream (some oneironauts here do it and report a very calm sensation off it!), or even learn more about yourself by documenting your dream world: your personal and unique reality!

Don't forget that we also have monthly tasks around here. You should try to aim for the basic one, because they are rather easy if you focus and they will give you a nice feeling of accomplishment. Hope this triggered some ideas good luck

I am recent to lucid dreams. Ive been aware 13 times but only stabilized 3 times such that I could actually do anything before awakening. But let me say that it is so awesome an experience that just having a lucid dream is such an event that you will be satisfied for quite awhile just having one! Never mind about what should I do. Its like seeing the grand canyon.... You dont immediately worry about what should I do here, as just simply seeing it will strike you with awe.

Hey Guys! This is all really helpful, and thank you for your words of encouragement! I took a particular interest in lucid dreaming for the creative side (I am a musician and have been experiencing creative blocks). However, the new possibilities I have read about really have opened a completely new side and view on lucid dreaming. A few more questions What exactly is a dream guide? Where can I find the monthly tasks? Most importantly, what should I do to learn the art of lucid dreaming? I am stuck The methods I have been trying are failing to work (WILDS, DILDS, WBTB). With WILDS, I have only experience Sleep Paralysis once. I diligent try to find that feeling again, but end up either falling asleep, or experiencing serious discomfort and rolling onto my side (instant sleeping). WBTB either cause me to fall back to sleep without holding consciousness or wake me up. DILDS became to repetitive for me and really took a toll on my motivation :/ WILDS seem the most interesting me, but the whole idea of WBTB really discourages me and I need help. Any tips relating to keeping consciousness, what to think about, guidelines for what I should watch for, methods, or helpful words of wisdom would do me great justice! Nice to meet you all as well. Hope to hear from you all soon!

Practice. You may not get it at first but you eventually will! I had the same problem as you until one night it just "happened".

Do you prefer DILDS or WILDS and why? Also do you recommend WBTB or just trying as you go to sleep?

I just happen to DILD so those are kind of "free" lucids. If you try to WILD you really should to a WBTB because if you don't it will take over an hour and even if you do manage to get into the dream in will be almost impossible to stabilize. If you combine it with WBTB then you could enter a dream in 15 minutes or less!

Welcome to DV. To answer your first question, anything is possible, so you really don't need to ask anyone what you should do/attempt, anything you can think of is doable with the right ammount of patience, practice and confidence. For your last question, I prefer WILD'ing to DILD's because WILD's just feel a lot more vivid and clear. I have not really noticed a difference in the ammount of dream control I have in either, so thats not really a factor (for me at least). The only downside to WILD's is the difficulty, as many struggle with the technique only to later find out that they are doing it wrong, and that everyone is different = differnent techniques work better for different people. Many of my WILD's are by luck or intention, and I would definetly reccomend you combine them with WBTB, cuz I've only had one WILD without WBTB, and it was kind of a DEILD.

Can you guys tell me the biggest factors that helped you break the learning curves of WILDS? What mindset should I have and what should I think about?

You should just be focusing on going to sleep when attempting a WILD. Try not to think about anything. Let your thoughts drift in front of your minds eye.

The problem is, if I just let my thoughts wander, I just fall asleep instead of wilding? Can you give me a like step by step of what you do?

There really is no "step by step" because everyones different. Hell, almost all my WILDs are different but this is what I do anyway.

      1. WBTB after 3 hours of sleep.
      2. Stay up for 5-15minutes
3.Lay down and relax (5 minutes)
4.Place my hand under body (pain anchor, its just uncomfortable)
5.Completly disconnect from all of my thoughts. (practice meditation to help you achieve this better)
6.Then I sometimes feel small vibrations. (after around 3-10minutes)
7.Focus those vibrations to my frontal lobe of my brain. (it helps to enter dream)
8.I usually see intense visualization/hear sounds after focusing vibrations to my frontal lobe, and enter a dream (in under 5 seconds)

      9. Stabilize dream and do whatever.

What exactly does a "pain anchor" do? Wouldn't that prevent you from sleeping?

I have been trained to live with pain so it doesn't really bother me when I go to sleep at night. I make it so it kind've hurts just so I can feel it but not too much so its dominating my awareness.

I can't really help you with WILD, but if you wanna have a DILD it boosts your chances tremendously to have it on your mind at all times!

While you can't retain the thought ALL the time you need to reach a stage of excitement where you will remind yourself of lucid dreaming and reality checking every 5 minutes or so. You don't need to reality check every single time, just the fact that lucid dreams crosses your mind and you imagine what it will be like to become lucid will help you a great deal.

Try to feel the excitement the same way a child would feel if he was told he were going to a themepark the next day. Look forward to your sleep and make it important!

Lucid dreaming is not hard. It's actually very easy. You just have to want it and think about it enough, and it will eventually happen.

Don't put it on a pedestal, your brain is your brain, and it will work in your favor if you want it to.

      EDIT:

BTW: If you want some stuff to do in your first LDs, try some simple stuff like speaking and hearing your own voice, feeling different things (walls, skin, flowers, etc.), or just walk around looking at stuff.

One of my friends just had his first LD, and he spent the whole time lying under his bed licking the metal bars.
He was so surprised by the realism of the taste that he just kept on trying. xD

Now I am really LOL. too funny. I don't think I will add that to the list of things I want to do in my next Lucid dream.

Naah, it's not really the most amazing thing you can do in a LD. x'D
